SOCCER: Raiders can’t find offense in second half, fall to Lincoln Co.

Westwood’s Rocket soccer team beat the brakes off of Webb in the conference tournament semi-finals Thursday at Dyer Bouldin Field. Capacity, concession restrictions lifted for Coffee County Central sports
Capacity limitations and restrictions on food sales for all athletic events at Coffee County Central High School have now been lifted. CHS athletic director Rebecca Koger made the announcement Thursday afternoon. The school has been dealing with varying capacity limitations and restrictions on concession sales due to COVID-19 pandemic all school year long. CMS track sending one to state meet
Tyler Smith qualified for the TMSAA state meet. Coffee County Track & Field had one athlete qualify for the state track meet during the sectionals this week. Tyler Smith placed second in the shotput with a distance of 41-7 – just about 2 feet shy of first place, but good enough to qualify for the TMSAA state meet. CMS had other athletes perform well and set personal records at the sectionals, including Sophie McInturff setting a personal record in the 1600 meter with a time of 5:36.86 to place 7th. CHS football pushes back spring practice
Coffee County Central High School’s football team was scheduled to officially open spring football practice this week, culminating in an intra-squad game on May 17. However, Red Raider head coach Doug Greene told Thunder Radio that dates have been pushed to next week after the unexpected resignation of defensive coordinator Roger Haynes, who had to leave the program due to family health reasons. The untimely departure of Haynes leaves Greene interviewing defensive coordinator prospects this week with hopes to make a hire by next week. For the second night in a row, the Coffee County Central baseball team shutout Shelbyville and beat the Eagles 12-0 in a mercy-rule shortened game.
