Motlow Sports Update

Sophomore pitcher Kayla Green allowed only a harmless single in the fourth inning Saturday as the Motlow Lady Bucks split a doubleheader against non-conference opponent Gadsden State in Gadsden, dropping game one 5-3 before rallying behind Green to capture game two 9-0.

The Lady Bucks (14-22, 2-9) needed something positive to happen for them after suffering a sweep at the hands of 15th-ranked Volunteer State 9-0, 3-2 on Friday at the softball complex in Moore County.

Motlow will step out of TCCAA conference competition again on Tuesday when it travels to Columbia, Kentucky for a doubleheader against Lindsey Wilson College, a team it swept back on Mar. 7. The Lady Bucks return to conference play this weekend when they host Southwest Tennessee at 2 p.m. Friday.

The Motlow Bucks can’t wait to get back to their home field following a weekend sweep at the hands of TCCAA rival Dyersburg State in Dyersburg. The two teams entered the weekend separated by only one game in the conference standings.
Unfortunately for the Bucks (28-19, 7-14) they now trail Dyersburg State (25-15, 11-10) following 15-2, 5-4, and 4-1 wins by the Trojans. Motlow will regroup and host non-conference opponent Wallace State on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Driver Complex in Moore County.
