The Union University baseball team had four players to receive National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) MidEast Region honors. Earning Honorable Mention was Samuel Davis, a 6-foot junior pitcher from Manchester, Tenn., was 3-3 on the season for Union with a 4.34 ERA. He tossed 56 innings, striking out 54 hitters and walking 35. Opponents hit just .205 versus Davis this season.
Davis transferred to Union in Jackson, TN from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he played one season of baseball. Prior to his season at Tennessee, Davis played two seasons for Columbia State Community College.
Davis was named the MVP of the District 8-AAA tournament in 2009 while pitching at Coffee County High School.
