After Coffee County defeated the Lady Yellow Jackets of Grundy County by 39 points last week (55-16), the ladies from the mountain were much better at home. The Lady Raiders were down 26-23 at half but they held Grundy County scoreless in the 3rd quarter to take a 30-26 lead. Coffee County could not hold off the Lady Yellow Jackets in the 4th, falling 43-39.
Tyger Fenton led the Lady Raiders with 17 and was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game. Aerial Williams added 10.
The loss drops the Lady Raiders to 1-2 on the season.

In boys’ action the Raiders were looking to improve to 3-0 on the season, but came up short to Grundy County, 40-38 in Coalmont, TN.
In the first half J.P. Duncan had the hot hand scoring 11 off the bench as Coffee County held a 21-17 lead at the break. In the second half the Raiders held a 15 point lead, but the Yellow Jackets fought back to defeat Coffee County. The loss drops the Raiders to 2-1 on the season.
Garrett Eldridge was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game. Duncan’s 11 first half points led the Raiders.

On Thursday night Coffee County will host their first home games of the year as Fayetteville High School comes to the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium for a 6pm tip for girl’s play.
