The Independence High School Eagles soared into Manchester on Friday night and cruised to 42-6 win over Coffee County.
The Eagles star player Vic Wharton III threw a 19 yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, had a 52 yard punt return later in the first, and had a 68 yard touchdown reception just before the half to lead Independence now 4-2 on the year.
Deangelo Rozier lead the way for Coffee County with 130 yards on the ground on 17 carries. Rozier scored the lone touchdown for the Raiders with a 39 yard burst late in the third quarter. Rozier was named the Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game.
The Raiders look to get into the win column this week as they travel to McMinnville to play the Pioneers of Warren County in District 6-AAA play.
