Coffee Middle Softball Gets Walk-Off Win Over Warren County

Down to their final out in the final inning, the Lady Raider softball team scored 5 runs to defeat Warren County 11 to 9 on Thursday night at CCMS.  Haley Richardson hit the 2nd pitch of her at-bat over the centerfield fence for a walk-off home run to score Ashley Evans and Gracie Pippenger and complete the 2nd comeback of the night for Coffee County.  Tied at 6 going into the last inning, Warren County plated 3 runs, including a home run of their own, to make the score 9 to 6 and erase the first Coffee County rally.  The Lady Raiders loaded the bases with 2 outs in the 5th before Pippenger hit a 2 RBI single and set up Richardson’s heroics.  Richardson, who came into the game to pitch in the 2nd inning got the win for the Lady Raiders and was 2 for 4 at the plate with a double to go with her home run.  She finished with 5 RBI.  Pippenger was 2 for 2 with 2 walks and 5 RBI and scored the tying run in the bottom of the 4th on a wild pitch.  Jayden Scheller was 2 for 3 on the night for Coffee County as well.  Coffee County, which trailed 6 to 0 after 2 innings, banged out 7 hits on the night and took advantage of 6 walks given up by Warren County’s pitchers.  With the win, the Lady Raiders avenged a 5 to 0 loss in the opening game of the season to Warren County.  The Lady Raiders improved to 4 and 1 on the season and 4 and 1 in conference play.  The Lady Raiders are off for Spring Break and will not play again until April 6th when they play host to South Franklin.

Middle School JV Baseball – North Franklin 11, Coffee County 8
The Coffee County Middle School Red Raider Junior Varsity baseball team started strong against the Gators of North Franklin scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning but could not hold on to take the win. North broke thru with 4 runs in the 4th inning and 5 more in the 5th inning to but the Raiders in a 9 to 3 hole. Coffee County scored runs in each of the last 4 innings but could not string together a big inning in the loss. Garrett Davis was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored for Coffee County while Slade Owens had 2 singles in 2 plate appearances. The Red Raiders are scheduled to take on North in a rematch on Friday night at 6:00 PM in Winchester.
