Coffee County Split Games At Warren County

On Friday night, Coffee County opened the District 6AAA season with a trip to McMinnville to take on Warren County. In Girl’s action, Coffee County jumped out to a quick 10 to 0 lead, led in part by 2 early baskets from TaNeesa Buchanan and cruised to a 52 to 24 win. The Lady Raiders placed 3 players in double figures as Ginny Clayborne scored 19 points, Alaina Lusk added 14 and Buchanan finished the night with 10 points. The Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game was TaNeesa Buchanan for her quick scoring start and her defensive performance. With the win, Coffee County improved to 7 and 9 on the season and 1 and 0 in district play.

Lake Elam makes a free-throw at McMinnville

In the boy’s game, Coffee County managed to incrementally build a 9 point lead late in the 4th quarter before Warren County closed out on an 11 to 1 run in the last, furious 3 minutes of play falling by a final of 46 to 45. The Warren County comeback was completed with 3 seconds remaining as the Pioneers got a 3 point play in the paint from 6’6” senior Nick Simmons before a packed house at Warren County. Coffee County was led in scoring by Lance Crismond and Lake Elam who each had 12 points. Lucas Crismond added 8 points and Anthony Jackson finished with 6. Lake Elam was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game. With the heartbreaking loss, Coffee County’s record fell to 5 and 10 on the year and 0 and 1 in district play.

The Raiders and Lady Raiders will be back at home at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym on Monday night to take on Cannon County. Tipoff for the girl’s action will be 6 PM.
