CHS Volleyball Rallies to Claim Silver Bracket Title on Saturday

Hosting the most competitive field of teams in the history of the Southern Slam, the CHS volleyball team swept the final 2 matches on Saturday to take the title in the tournament’s Silver Bracket. After inconsistent play all day long, the Lady Raiders turned it up late as they avenged a loss to Tullahoma in the semifinals before sweeping Cumberland County in 2 sets in the finals. Eagleville defeated Lincoln County in teh gold bracket finals. In the silver bracket finals, the Lady Raiders got 22 kills against the talented Lady Jets front line as their offense worked to near perfection. Senior Peyton Nicoll had a great performance in the final match as she led the Lady Raiders in kills with 8, aces with 3 and blocks with 2 while adding 6 assists and 4 digs. Diana Davis also had 3 aces for the Lady Raiders while leading the team in digs with 10 and adding 6 kills. Maddie Taylor led the team in assists with 9 while adding a kill and 6 digs. The Lady Raiders host 2 pivotal district games this week as they welcome the top 2 teams in the district to the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. 2nd place Lincoln County visits on Tuesday while district leading Columbia comes to town on Thursday. A pair of wins could vault Coffee County from 3rd place to a first place tie. The Lady Raiders warm up with a 3 way match on Monday as they take on Warren County at 4:30 and Tullahoma at 5:30 at Warren County High School.
