CHS Softball Finishes Lincoln County Tournament with 1 and 2 Saturday

With the majority of their starters missing on Saturday due to the CHS Prom, the Lady Raider softball concluded play in the Lincoln County Border Battle.  Coffee County played 3 games on the day coming away with a 1 and 2 record.  Coffee County opened play on Saturday morning with a 7 to 4 walk-off loss to Page.  The Lady Raiders opened tournament play with a 4 to 2 win over Stewarts Creek before being eliminated by Hazel Green, Alabama.

Despite 2 different leads for Coffee County against Page, the Lady Patriots hit a 3 run home run in the bottom of the 5th inning to end the game due to the expiration of time.  Coffee County grabbed a 1 to 0 lead in the first inning and a 4 to 3 lead in the 3rd inning.  Raven Rogers had 3 singles and scored twice for the Lady Raiders.  Shelby Scrivnor added a single, a triple and 2 RBI.  Ashley Evans and Keri Munn each had 2 hits.

In the win over Stewarts Creek, the Lady Raiders plated 4 runs in the 3rd inning with the big blast being a 3 run home run from Jayden Scheller.  Scheller added a single and scored once.  Rogers added a single and a double and 1 run scored.  Keri Munn pitched a complete game 4 hitter striking out 6 batters in 6 innings of work.

Hazel Green jumped on the Lady Raiders in the first inning scoring 7 runs to put the game out of reach.  Coffee County surrendered 11 unearned runs after committing 5 errors and was held to 3 hits on the game.  Eliza Carden, Ashley Evans and Shelby Scrivnor each finished with a single for the Lady Raiders.

The Lady Raiders are set to travel to Marshall County on Monday afternoon for a non-district contest with the Lady Tigers.  Weather permitting, that game will get underway at 5:30 PM.
