Coffee County could not shut down the Lincoln County set piece offense on Thursday night as the Lady Falcons converted 3 goals off of corner kicks to beat the Lady Raiders 5 to 2 in the District 8AAA soccer finals. The Lady Raiders out shot Lincoln County 17 to 9 but the loss will force the Lady Raiders to travel on Tuesday night for the Region 4AAA semifinals.
Lincoln County got a pair of 1st half goals in the 25th and 30th minutes to take a 2 to 0 lead into the intermission. The back breaker was in the 44th minute as Lincoln County notched their 3rd goal to put Coffee County in an insurmountable hole. Caitlyn Moore added Coffee County’s first goal in the 53rd minute on a feed by Eliza Masters, but Lincoln County scored less than a minute later to shut down any potential rally. Moore added her second goal in the final minute off an assist from Jenna Garretson.
Coffee County will travel to Murfreesboro on Tuesday to take on the District 7AAA champion Lady Stars of Siegel. Siegel defeated Stewarts Creek 2 to 1 in the District 7AAA finals to advance to the region semifinals as a host. That match is tentatively scheduled for a 7 PM kickoff at Ken Nolan Stadium at Siegel.
