The Coffee County Central High School basketball teams will close out the regular season this weekend as they prepare for the postseason. The Raiders and Lady Raiders begin with Senior Night tonight at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium. On Saturday, both Coffee County teams travel to McMinnville to take on Warren County in a 3 PM non-district matinee.
Against Tullahoma, the Lady Raiders need a win to lock up sole possession of 5th place in the district standings and a season sweep of the Lady Cats. Win or lose, Coffee County will end up in 5th place and will be the 5th seed. At Thursday’s district meeting Coffee County won the tiebreaker with Tullahoma and will open postseason play against Franklin County in the first round of the District 8AAA tournament. That game is scheduled for 6 PM on Thursday in Winchester.
The Red Raiders are playing for pride and momentum entering next week’s district tournament. With Tullahoma’s upset of Lincoln County on Wednesday night, Coffee County is locked in as the 7th place team. Regardless of that, the 4 Red Raider seniors will be playing to avoid a season sweep by the Cats and a chance to mount a charge in next week’s district tournament. Coffee County will open the postseason on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM when they travel to Tullahoma for the District 8AAA play-in game. The semi finals and finals of the District 8AAA basketball tournament will be held at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium. As always, Thunder Radio will bring you exclusive coverage of every minute of Red Raider and Lady Raider basketball.
