Monday was a great day for the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders of Coffee County Middle School as all 3 teams in action on Monday got big wins. The Lady Raider soccer team played host to North Franklin in a lightning shortened affair on Monday afternoon. The Lady Raiders got a pair of goals from Allie Amado and a goal each from Julia Duncan and Bailey Sherrell in the first half to take a 4 to 0 lead at the halftime break. At the half, both teams were pushed off the field due to lightning and the game never resumed giving the Lady Raiders a perfect start to their season. Even though this was a conference opponent, the game was played as a non-conference game. The Lady Raiders will host Harris Middle on Thursday at CCMS at 5 PM in a conference battle.
The Lady Raider volleyball team traveled to Flintville on Monday and tamed the host Bobcats. The varsity and JV teams each got straight set wins over the Lady Bobcats to open their seasons in winning form. Coach Lora Selvog and the Lady Raiders will take on Warren County on Tuesday night at Warren County Middle School beginning at 4:30 PM. The first HOME match of the year for the Lady Raiders will be on Tuesday, August 19 as they host Eagleville in a 5:00 PM contest. The Coffee County Middle School JV football team opened the season under the lights at Carden-Jarrell Field on Monday night with a 40 to 0 win over Warren County. After a late start due to weather, the Raiders got two 1st half rushing touchdowns each from Hayden Skipper and Tanner Hulvey, along with a 37 yard fumble recovery TD from Drake Medina to lead 40 to 0 at the half. Hulvey and QB Bryson Hullett each scored a pair of 2 point conversions, while Justin Gravitt added the other PAT. The Raiders reserves held the Pioneers scoreless in the 2nd half to seal the win. The Coffee Middle varsity team is off this week, they return to action on Tuesday, August 19th as they will travel to take on Whitwell. That game is set to kick off at 6:30 PM
