The Coffee County Middle School varsity teams opened preseason play in the Woodbury Grammar School Border Battle on Tuesday night. The Lady Raiders built a 24 to 2 halftime lead on their way to a 44 to 10 win over Dibrell. Julia Duncan led Coffee County in scoring with 18 points. Ellie Graham and Keelie Hillis added 8 points each. The Lady Raiders will advance to the semifinals of the preseason tournament as they will take on North Elementary Thursday night at 7:00 at Woodbury Grammar.
The Red Raiders raced out to a 23 to 3 halftime lead as they dispatched the Dibrell boys 49 to 13. Eleven different Red Raiders scored points for Coffee County. Blanton Brown netted 8 points in the Raider win while Trevor Horne, Brandon Jernigan and Kyle Farless each scored 6 points. The Red Raiders return to Woodbury on Thursday night for the semifinals of this preseason tournament as they will take on Auburntown. That game is set to get underway at 8:15.
