It’s Official; Hastings to Close

Retailer Hastings will be liquidated and all 126 of its stores will close including the store in Tullahoma by October 31, 2016. Amarillo.com reports that Hilco Merchant Resources LLC and Gordon Brothers Retail Partners LLC co-purchased Hastings and will oversee the liquidation of its assets. According to the court documents filed Wednesday, the two companies can frame the liquidation as a “going out of business” sale. And by Halloween, Hastings will be closed. Master Distiller leaves George Dickel

Allisa Henley of Manchester, the master distiller at George Dickel in Tullahoma has left the company to become the master distiller at Popcorn Sutton Distilling LLC, the Ohio-based whiskey maker that operates a large distillery in Newport. According to the Knoxville News-Sentinel, Henley was named to the top distiller spot at the Dickel distillery near Tullahoma in 2014, replacing John R. Lunn, who left to take the same post at Popcorn Sutton. Tennessee comes in 28th in the nation for installed solar capacity according to the Solar Energy Industries Association. Last year the state installed 11 megawatts of generation potential. Two People arrested for Sex Trafficking now facing more Charges

Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained additional indictments for two people who are already facing charges in connection to an ongoing TBI juvenile human sex trafficking investigation. TBI Agents opened the case on July 8, 2015 after receiving information from the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. Agents found the between February and July 2015, Kasity Fults-Hill and her husband Christopher Hill participated in trafficking a 17-year-old for the purposes of commercial sex. 13% of Tennesseans still have No Broadband Internet

A survey of state residents and businesses has found that about 13 percent of Tennesseans do not have broadband internet access. The study was commissioned by the state Department of Economic and Community Development to determine the current state of broadband availability and to inform future options for improving access. Republican Gov. Bill Haslam in a release called the report a “starting point to advance the conversation” about high-speed internet in Tennessee. Students planning on attending Motlow State Community College this fall must submit an application for admission or readmission by Aug. 15, according to Shawn Gilbreath, assistant director of admissions and records at Motlow State. Suddenly, without warning, the week of Bonnaroo, Daryl Welch who works for Coffee County Emergency Management/Homeland Security office experienced stroke like symptoms.
