Grant to help Qualifying Manchester Homeowners
With so many houses in Manchester that are in desperate need of repairs, a grant is coming at a great time. The Tennessee Housing Development Agency granted the city $500,000 to rehabilitate homes for low-income homeowners. Report: Minimum Wage isn’t Keeping Up with Worker Productivity
This summer marks the seven-year anniversary of the last time the federal minimum wage was raised, from $6.55 to $7.25 an hour. Meanwhile, the buying power of those dollars has fallen by 10 percent because of inflation, that comes from a new analysis from the Economic Policy Institute. Barrett Donating Rifles to all Tennessee Sheriff Departments
The president of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing said Monday the company is going to donate a REC7 DI rifle to every Tennessee sheriff’s office or department. Barrett Firearms President Chris Barrett made the announcement at the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association Annual Conference and Exhibition in Sevierville. Wayside property owners Mandated to pay Sewer Fees
Recently property owners in the Wayside Sewer System area received a letter from Coffee County Mayor Gary Cordell. The letter stated that starting Oct. 1, 2016 owners in the area of Wayside, Country Air and Deer Range will be required to pay fees for the sewer system. Due to new standards set by the State of Tennessee Water and Wastewater Financing Board for the Wayside Wastewater system it has become necessary to reassess the financial situation. Man Arrested for 12th time Driving on Revoked/Suspended
Last Thursday night a Tullahoma officer received a call that a car was in a ditch behind Pet Smart on No. Jackson St. When the officer arrived a male subject and a child had left the car and were running down the street near the Pizza Hut. After contact was made two witnesses said they were riding with the man and he was the driver. The child also said the subject was driving the stuck vehicle. Area law enforcement continues to receive tips about IRS imposters threatening arrests, lawsuits, and property seizures unless the victim pays up. Law enforcement says they’re investigating alongside several other law enforcement agencies across the United States. Police say these calls are not coming from the IRS. The department will never demand payment over the telephone. Typical IRS communication comes in the form of U.S. Mail.
