Anti-Drug Coalition and the Raider Academy teaming up to Help Female Students

The Coffee County Anti-Drug Coalition has partnered with Coffee County Raider Academy to pilot a program called Transition Academy. The Transition Academy is a 3 part series for 9th grade female students and their parents. The goal of this program is to build life skills to empower our young women and encourage parent involvement during the transitional years of high school and young adulthood. During each week the young women are invited to attend a 2-hour program. The second hour (4 p.m. – 5 p.m.) parents/ caregivers are invited to attend interactive sessions with their young women. The United States has filed a False Claims Act lawsuit against Vanguard Healthcare LLC, and six of its nursing homes and related entities, as well as Vanguard’s Director of Operations, announced David Rivera, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee and Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Benjamin C. Franklin County Man Charged with Arson

Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for a Franklin County man accused of aggravated arson and aggravated assault. At the request of 12th District Attorney General J. Michael Taylor and the Winchester Police Department, TBI Special Agents joined investigators with Winchester Police and the Department of Commerce and Insurance Fire Investigations, in investigating a suspicious fire on June 27th at a Winchester residence. Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest non-profit law firm, announced Thursday that it has relocated its Tullahoma office from 123 NW Atlantic St. to 281 Industrial Blvd. The new 4,400-square-foot office location is located just minutes from downtown Tullahoma. “While our old office served us well for the last 35 years, we are pleased to have found an office that will be an even better environment for our clients and staff,” according to the managing attorney of Legal Aid Society’s Tullahoma office. Patriot Day observance in Manchester is scheduled for Sunday, September 11th, at 2pm, on the courthouse lawn. Westwood Middle School Students Helping Others

Students at Westwood Middle School in Manchester are going through a program to help their community. The student body is divided into what is called “Houses”. The “Houses” are evenly divided between 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The houses are all named after different rockets: Falcon, Saturn, Atlas, and Delta. Fire at Captain D’s in Manchester

Wednesday morning at around 4:30am Manchester Fire-Rescue received a call from the Coffee County Communications Center reporting smoke coming from Captain D’s on the Hillsboro Hwy. Fire units responded and upon arrival crews reported smoke coming from the roof area of Captain D’s. Firefighters made entry into the facility and discovered a fire above the false ceiling and they extinguished it rapidly. Crews remained on scene conducting overhaul and salvage operations till about 8:30am ensuring there was no further fire extension in the facility.
