Teen Fatality Crashes Up 10 Percent

Teen involved crash fatalities increased 10 percent in 2015, according to a new report from the Governor’s Highway Safety Association. Distracted driving is the number one cause of teen driver crashes and teen passengers are the number one distraction for teen drivers. AAA suggests teen passengers avoid unnecessary conversations, don’t pull the driver’s attention from the road, silence phone notifications and navigate and stay alert to help the driver avoid danger. The statewide ACT Senior Retake will be next Saturday, October 22 for students who met the September 16 registration deadline. The retake provides every eligible high school senior, meaning any public school student who took the ACT as a junior, the ability to retake the ACT free of charge. UPDATE–Man Dies in local Ultralight Aircraft Crash

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department received a call around 4:47pm Sunday afternoon that some type of aircraft had crashed at 2376 Prairie Plains Rd, Hillsboro. Emergency crews arrived quickly on the scene and discovered an Ultralight Sky Cycle aircraft had indeed crashed. The area was secured and an investigation ensued. Emergency personnel then located Michael David Nelms age 52, 2376 Prairie Plains Road in Hillsboro and determined that he had perished. Early Voting Starts Wednesday

Early voting begins on Wednesday and in Manchester, residents can vote at the Coffee County Administrative Plaza, which is located at 1329 McArthur St., Suite 6. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. The hours will be extended through 5:30 p.m. on the last day of early voting, which is Thursday, Nov. 3. On Sunday Manchester Police officers were called to 726 Madison Street for an aggravated assault call. The victim stated she had been kidnapped by knife point by a male subject while in the parking lot at a restaurant in Manchester. Law Enforcement Searching for Stabbing Suspect

Authorities are searching for a Hillsboro man after a stabbing took place on Wednesday evening in Tullahoma. Tullahoma Police received a call about an aggravated assault on East Lincoln Street. When Officer Michael Wilder arrived he learned that the victim, Rodney Shiver, 48, had left the area after being attacked by an unnamed individual. While driving along East Lincoln Street, Shiver was found on Montclair Street. After locating Shiver they saw he had been stabbed several times. On Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:30 pm, an attempted child abduction occurred at the playground of the Old West Middle School just off S. Franklin St. in Tullahoma.
