Hundreds of sex offenders got unannounced visits over the weekend from officers with the Tennessee Department of Corrections. It’s called Operation Clean Sweep. Unlike Operation Blackout, the Halloween sweep that TDOC conducts each year, offenders do not know officers are coming. Once at the residence, they search inside and outside of the offenders’ homes. Operation Clean Sweep started Wednesday and ended late Saturday night. Officers visited 356 homes. Twenty-four large companies would reap about half of the savings of a $113 million corporate tax cut proposed by Republican Gov. Bill Haslam’s administration. The Chattanooga Times Free Press obtained a Haslam administration analysis that said a total of 518 companies would qualify for the tax reduction that is part of a package of cuts the governor wants to make to balance a planned hike in the state’s tax on gas and diesel. On Friday (April 7th 2017) Manchester Police responded to a call from Mill Street in reference to a stabbing attack at the residence. According to the arrest warrant Investigator Jonathan Anthony states that Jimmy Lee Thompson age 44 from South Ramsey St Manchester allegedly stabbed the victim, Jerry Williamson in the upper left part of his chest causing serious bodily injury to the victim. The mother and grandparents of a homicide suspect have been indicted on charges that they tried to hinder the ongoing investigation of a murder in Warren County. As authorities were investigating the death of Barry Cole on February 6th, investigators eventually arrested Wesley Leverett and charged him with criminal homicide. As the investigation progressed, authorities determined that Leverett’s mother, 54 year old Debra Daniels and his grandparents, Charles and Dorothy Daniels, attempted to hinder the criminal investigation.
