Stabbing in Tullahoma

On Friday July 28, 2017 Tullahoma Police Officer Jacob Smith and other patrolman responded to a home on South Jackson St in reference to a domestic situation. According the arrest warrant, upon arrival officers made contact with a male victim that had been stabbed multiple times with a large kitchen knife. The victim is allegedly the boyfriend of Marie Ann Martin age 49 of South Jackson St Tullahoma. The victim was transported from the scene by ambulance. The arrest warrant goes onto state that Martin admitted to stabbing the victim. Martin was charged by Officer Smith with aggravated assault...

Reports of Vandalism at the Viola Cemetery

Around mid-July there was a report of vandalism at the Viola Cemetery when several tombstones were knocked over and a hole on top of a grave had been dug approximately four to five feet deep. On July 24th 2017 a second vandalism to the Viola Cemetery was reported to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. The second vandalism that was reported involved 24 headstones that were either damaged or destroyed. Gas Prices in Tennessee continue to Rise

Gas prices saw another round of increases last week. Tennessee gas prices averaged $2.08 on Sunday. The state average is 3 cents more than last week and 18 cents more than this time last year. The price for regular unleaded is below $2 a gallon at fewer than 25 percent of gas stations in Tennessee. The national average price for regular unleaded was $2.31 Sunday. Shelbyville Woman Reports Rape in Murfreesboro

A 30-year old-Shelbyville woman told Murfreesboro Police she was raped on Chaffin Place. The victim, who was in custody at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department at the time of the report, told Officer Robert Jamison last Thursday, she was with two black subjects in the overflow parking lot of Cracker Barrel. She reports they prepared her a shot of “ice” and that’s the last thing she remembers until waking up six hours later in the parking lot of a South Church Street gas station. Governor Bill Haslam has proclaimed this week as Safety and Health in the Workplace Week in Tennessee. The Governor’s proclamation coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Tennessee Safety and Health Conference, which started Sunday in Nashville. Each year Tennessee workers are injured or die as a result of workplace accidents or illness. As of today, 21 persons have died in Tennessee this year after they were involved in an accident while working. County Unemployment Rates Go Up

The latest unemployment rate increased in each of Tennessee’s 95 counties in June 2017, according to data released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD). The county unemployment rates are not seasonally adjusted, whereas the state unemployment rate is modified to account for seasonal fluctuations. The county rates take into account seasonal workers who are temporarily out of work. Between May and June, education service jobs were down by 35,100. On Wednesday, July 26th Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested three individuals on indictments returned by a Federal Grand Jury form Chattanooga, Tennessee. 37 year-old Calvin D. George of Fairview Campground Winchester, TN., Thomas D. Mayberry age 31 of Syler Road and Shay L. Williams age 24 of Safe Haven Circle were all placed in custody and are to be transferred to federal custody as soon as possible.
