Charges are pending against two individuals in connection with a burglary of the D.W. Wilson Recreation Center located on North Collins Street Tullahoma. According to a report by Tullahoma Police Officer George Dodson, on Aug. 5 when employee Lily Medley arrived she noticed the front desk had been ransacked. Manchester Coffee County Conference Center Receives Grant
The Manchester Coffee County Conference Center and General Manager, Rebecca French working with Bonnie Gamble, Terri Hudson and Margie Lowe, were awarded by the State of Tennessee Tourism and Economic Development a grant in the amount of $50,000. The grant came with one stipulation- to raise matching funds. The match grant is tier 2 or 70/30 with matching funds of $15,000. They have already raised almost $7,500 with $7,500 left to raise. More Senior Citizens are being Hospitalized Due to Painkillers
Federal data shows the number of senior citizens in Tennessee who are hospitalized due to painkillers has more than tripled over the last decade. The Tennessean reports the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality data showed that in 2005, 467 seniors out of every 100,000 spent time in the hospital due to opioids. In 2015, the rate had increased to 1,505. The newspaper reports various reasons for hospitalizations, including auto accidents and falls after taking opioids, interactions with other medications and unintentional overdoses. Woman Rescued after 4-Wheeler Accident
According to WKRN-TV in Nashville, an all-night search in Franklin County had a happy ending Sunday morning. A young woman was found safe around 8 a.m. after spending more than 12 hours lost and alone in the mountains. One Person Arrested another questioned in Burglary Case
On Sunday (August 6, 2017) Deputy Benjamin Sneed of the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Fire Lake area of Coffee County in reference to a burglary of a residence. The owner stated that someone had broken into a garage and shed on his property and vandalized them. Tullahoma Man Arrested for Second Time for Similar Charges and More
For the second time in as many weeks a Tullahoma man has been arrested in connection with work he allegedly failed to perform. Elmer Ray Church, 46, of East Grundy Street, Tullahoma was charged with two counts of theft of property and five counts of forgery. In warrants, Tullahoma Police Investigator Johnny Gore alleges that between June 1 and July 10 Church was hired to do construction work at 100 Point Drive in Tullahoma but he failed to do it. Drug Round-Up Nets 23 Arrests
A warrant round-up in Grundy and Marion Counties resulted in the arrest of 29 people Tuesday. Nearly 40 law enforcement officers spread out across both counties to arrest the individuals in connection with failing to appear in court, probation violations and distributing controlled substances including meth, marijuana and painkillers. Those arrested were part of an undercover operation conducted by the 12th judicial district task force, Tracy City Police and sheriff’s departments in Grundy and Marion Counties. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department continues to search for a missing teen. Reports indicate that the teen could now be in Rutherford County. Keana Watters age 17 of Coffee County has been missing since June 30, 2017. Watters was last seen at her residence and reports now indicate that she could be in Rutherford County.
