Wreaths across America has placed Remembrance Wreaths on the graves at Arlington National Cemetery at Christmas for 25 years. Now Coffee County joins more than 1,200 other sites nation-wide participating in this program to honor our deceased military veterans interred at Oakwood and Citizens Cemeteries in Tullahoma and Hurricane Cemetery in Coffee County, with a plan to expand to other Coffee County Cemeteries in the future. The Coffee County Republican Women are taking on this project with 100 percent of all funds collected locally being used to order and place wreaths on veteran’s graves. $15 sponsors one wreath –...

Christmas Parade is Nov 25 in Manchester

The City of Manchester’s Christmas parade will take place on Saturday, November 25th at 6:30 pm. Parade line up will start at 5:00 pm. The theme for this year’s parade is Christmas Movie Magic. Following the parade, there will be a Christmas tree lighting on the square at 7:30 pm. The 25-foot tree is presented by the John Roberts Auto Group and Manchester Tourism. This time of year, there seems to be a lot more scam artist that are out to steal your money. Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves has issued a warning about an old scam making the rounds in Coffee County again. “It has been here in the past, but it seems to have started again,” the sheriff said this week. In a joint investigation conducted alongside the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained an indictment for a Grundy County man in connection to his wife’s homicide. On May 1, 2016, at the request of 12th District Attorney General Michael Taylor, TBI Agents joined the investigation into the death of Samantha Chandler, shortly after deputies found the body of the 26-year-old woman off Ross Creek Road in Gruetli-Laager. A Grundy County school board member’s truck was vandalized after Monday night’s school board meeting, according to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said the school board member was driving home when his truck stopped running, that’s when he noticed the vandalism. The word “rapist” was spray painted across the passenger side door and an unidentified substance was put in the gas tank to keep it from running. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department will start taking sign-ups for the Christmas boxes beginning Monday November 27, 2017. If you want to sign your children up for this program, you will need to come in person to the sheriff’s department at 76 County Jail Lane in Manchester.
