Some Areas of Tennessee Showing High Job Growth Rates
A new study says four Tennessee metro areas are among the top 10 metro areas for job growth in the southeast so far this year. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that a study of employment trends by 24/7 Wall Street found Nashville, Morristown, Chattanooga and Johnson City ranked fifth, sixth, ninth and 10th among Southern cities for employment growth. The study found Tennessee’s jobless rate fell to 3 percent this fall, which is the lowest level on record. Lawmaker looking to Change Frivolous Lawsuit Law in Tennessee
A state lawmaker is afraid that a law passed by the state legislature last year meant to shield some people from frivolous lawsuits could actually stop sexual harassment victims from speaking out. Rep. Mike Stewart says the legislature needs to repeal the law, which was aimed at reducing frivolous lawsuits aimed at public officials. The bill forces people who sue public officials to pay their legal fees if they lose in court. Local Authorities Locate and Arrest Wanted Man
Investigators with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department have been searching for 27 year-old Corey Franklin Keele. Keele was wanted for being in possession of a weapon where prohibited, failure to appear and promotion of methamphetamine. On Wednesday morning, Keele was located and arrested. Coffee County Investigator James Sherrill along with Deputies Brandon Reed, Kevin Smith, Ben Sneed, Larry McKelvey and K-9 Yoshi worked with Manchester Police Investigators Jonathan Anthony and Trey Adcock to locate and bring the Manchester man into custody. Two Tracy City Residents Charged with the Sale and Delivery of Oxycodone and Fentanyl
An investigation by Special Agents with the Drug Investigation Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of two Tracy City residents, charged with the sale and delivery of oxycodone and fentanyl. Over several months in 2016, Agents with the Drug Investigation Division conducted undercover operations in Marion County, pursuing leads on fentanyl and oxycodone distribution. During the course of the investigation, Agents purchased fentanyl from the subjects that had been pressed into a pill form, and disguised as oxycodone. New Live Music Series coming to Cumberland Caverns
Bluegrass Underground has moved on, but it doesn’t mean there won’t be live music at Cumberland Caverns. Cumberland Caverns in Warren County, along with RCS Productions, has announced a new concert series called Cumberland Caverns Live, it will kick off on February 3rd. Man Caught trying to bring Drugs into the Coffee Co. Jail in His Hair
A Tullahoma man was arrested after trying to sneak drugs into the Coffee County Jail in an unusual way. Octavius Isiah Wooten, 27, of Rickenbacker Drive, Tullahoma was charged with having contraband in a penal institution after corrections officers at the Coffee County Jail found drugs hidden in his dreadlocks. Wooten reported to the jail on December 8 to serve time for a drug sanction sentence. When the correction officers searched him they allegedly found two full strips of Suboxone, 2.06 grams of marijuana and four Hydrocodone pills hidden inside his hair.
