Police are investigating a bomb threat that was made Friday morning against the US Bank building downtown Shelbyville. Detective Lt. Brian Crews of the Shelbyville Police Department said, “The caller stated, ‘There is a bomb in the building, it is going to explode.” Crews said the caller is believed to have been a male. Shelbyville Police Department is conducting the investigation, said Scott Johnson, Bedford County Emergency Management Agency director. State Lawmakers to Discuss Medical Marijuana

Two Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation to make medical marijuana legal in Tennessee, but only in oil-based products. Senator Steve Dickerson of Nashville and Representative Jeremy Faison of Cosby announced the bill’s filing Thursday amid wide support for medical marijuana in state polls. The lawmakers said they believe the change could benefit 65,000 Tennesseans. Patients would have to have certain medical conditions, from cancer to post-traumatic stress disorder. Manchester Police is investigating the burglary of three businesses in the early morning hours of Thursday Jan. 17, 2018. According to Investigator Jackie Matheny, thieves broke into Great Clips and Posh Nails located on Relco Drive near Walmart and Pappy’s Restaurant located on Skinner Flat Road. Inmate Escapes Bedford County Jail for 3rd Time

Authorities are searching for an inmate who has escaped for the third time from a jail in Bedford County early Thursday morning. The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office says that Andrew Marshall escaped the Bedford County jail during the overnight hours. Marshall was among three inmates who escaped from the jail in September 2017. He escaped again with two other inmates in October 2017. He was jailed on misdemeanor charges. We have an update on a story we brought you yesterday. We reported that around 200 copies of the Manchester Times had been stolen from Walmart. A Manchester man has now been cited for shoplifting after allegedly taking the papers without paying for them. The 20 year-old Manchester man was cited by Manchester Police Department officer Daniel Ray. The man is set to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court in February.
