Manchester Bike Trail to be Extended
Attention all bike riders! The city was awarded a grant that will fund a long-term project to extend the Highway 41 bike lane to the Little Duck River Greenway near Parks Avenue and Emerson Street. From there, the path will be extended across the river and run along Wolf Creek to Busy Branch Road at the Bonnaroo festival grounds. Franklin County Corrections Officer Injured after Altercation with an Inmate
A Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Officer was transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga on Monday for injuries sustained during an altercation with an inmate. An investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office revealed that on Monday, September 3rd at approximately 7:15 pm Corrections Officer Jonathan Baker was involved in a physical altercation with an inmate that resulted in Baker sustaining a broken leg. The inmate, Brandon J. Quick of Decherd, TN was incarcerated in the Franklin County Jail under charges of theft of property now faces additional charges. State Essay Contest Begins
The Tennessee Secretary of State’s office is kicking off its third annual student essay contest. The project is part of a larger civics engagement initiative to encourage students to be actively engaged citizens. The 2018 theme for the essays is leadership with length requirements varying by grade level. Schools may submit two essays for kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade and ninth through 12th grade. Local Man on Tennessee’s Most Wanted List has been Captured
A man who listed a Hillsboro address after he was arrested a few weeks ago in Manchester had been on the run from law enforcement since Aug. 25 was captured on Friday. U.S. Marshalls and law enforcement officials from Alabama are credited with arresting Brian Lee Cleckler. Cleckler, age 39 was wanted for two counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Evading Arrest, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Man Operating Personal Watercraft Dies on Tims Ford Lake
A jet skiing accident results in a fatality on Tims Ford Lake Saturday evening. Zachary Davis, 28, of Christiana, TN was operating a personal watercraft (PWC) around 5 pm on Saturday (September 1). His brother in law was on a separate PWC and indicated to officers that Davis, who was unfamiliar with the craft, had fallen behind. The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) and the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Commission are warning consumers to avoid purchasing vehicles advertised through a phony website created and operated by scammers posing as the proprietors of a legitimate Lawrenceburg auto dealer. Fully licensed and in operation since 1991, Fields Auto Sales operates its dealership at 1408 N. Locust St. in Lawrenceburg but does not operate a website.
