The City of Manchester has been designated a Healthier Tennessee Community by the Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness, an organization dedicated to enabling and encouraging Tennesseans to lead healthier lives. Manchester was named a (Bronze) Healthier Tennessee Community’ based on local engagement, promotional efforts, and measurable progress to address critical health challenges. The Chair of the Healthier Tennessee Committee in Manchester is Recreation Director Bonnie Gamble. Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has announced eight school districts selected to receive grants as part of Tennessee’s ‘State of the Arts’ music grants in partnership with the Country Music Association (CMA) Foundation. One of those counties is Coffee County. This new, competitive grant opportunity is focused on expanding students’ access to high-quality music and arts education statewide and was made possible by a $1 million investment from the CMA Foundation. Tennessee begins Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Program

Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett has announced the introduction of the Tennessee Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Program. Tennessee now joins the more than 35 other states offering similar domestic violence safety programs. Safe at Home launched March 1 and aims to protect Tennessee victims of domestic violence, rape, human trafficking, stalking and other related crimes from their abusers by keeping their address concealed from public records. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, 18 of the 84 domestic violence-related murder victims in Tennessee in 2017 were repeat victims or had reported domestic abuse prior to their deaths....

Motlow State Community College has joined forces with CMT and the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) College System of Tennessee as one of four community colleges selected to be a part of CMT’s Empowering Education initiative. Names Released of the Two Pilots Injured in Helicopter Crash

Officials at Arista Aviation have identified the pilots injured in a helicopter crash near the Tullahoma Airport on Thursday afternoon. The pilots identified as 70-year old Jack Cook of Ozark, Alabama and 69-year old Larry Cornell of New Brockton, Alabama, were treated at Vanderbilt University hospital. Both pilots are said to be highly experienced, retired Army Aviators, who have flown the Blackhawk for over 35 years. Cook and Cornell joined Arista in 2015. Woman Arrested for Possession of Meth and Fentanyl

Grundy County deputies arrested Donna Shadrick (47) of Sequatchie,TN in Palmer after stopping her for suspicion of DUI. During the course of the investigation, deputies found suspected methamphetamine wrapped in one-dollar bills and what they believe to be the deadly drug fentanyl wrapped in a five-dollar bill. A field test kit confirmed the presence of fentanyl. Shadrick has been charged with DUI, Possession of Schedule II drugs, Possession of Schedule IV drugs, Possession of Drugs for Resale. Traffic Stops Ends with Drug Bust and Recovery of Reported Stolen Car

On Wednesday February 27th, 2019 Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chuck Stines initiated a traffic stop on Industrial Drive in Winchester, TN. Investigation did reveal that the vehicle which was the subject of the stop had been reported stolen from the Huntland area the previous day. Sgt. Stines and Investigator Kalyn Machuta made contact with the suspect involved in what was believed to be a vehicle theft. On March 30, 2018 at the Coffee County Fairgrounds a Vietnam-era Veterans Honors Day and Fair will take place. This event is free and open to the public.
