Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Shelbyville
A Shelbyville man lost his life around midday Monday when his motorcycle and a flatbed truck collided on North Main Street at Palmer Drive. Victor Curry, 58, of U.S. 41A South was responsive and talking with emergency personnel at the scene, Deputy Chief Brian Crews of the Shelbyville Police Department said. They added that Curry was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he died of serious internal injuries. Accuplacer Assessment Test Available Now at all Motlow State Campuses
Motlow State is offering the Accuplacer Assessment Test at all Motlow campuses multiple times through the 2019 calendar year. The Accuplacer replaced the Compass test. Students planning to enroll at Motlow for the fall semester who need to take the Accuplacer, which is used to assess a student’s readiness for college-level work, should do so as soon as possible. No Rate Increase and Rebates for ERPUD Customers
Elk River Public Utility District (ERPUD) serves more than 17,000 homes and businesses in Coffee and Franklin counties and they have some good news to pass along. ERPUD has announced no rate increases for the year to come. Rebates will also be coming to all active customers in the total amount of approximately $975,000. For residential ERPUD customers, the base service charge falls at either $10.75 or $14 per month, depending on whether the customer uses services year-round or for heating only. DREMC Warns about another Scam
Another electric bill payment scam has surfaced in the Lynchburg district this week as an impersonator told a DREMC member to call the number and pay his last three months bills with a credit card in the next two hours or his power would be cut off. This time, the scammer somehow knew the member’s last three bill amounts and the late fees. The member was wise to the scam and quickly reported it to DREMC. Asian Longhorned Ticks Detected in Tennessee
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture, United States Department of Agriculture – Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services, Tennessee Department of Health, and University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) has announced the detection of the invasive Asian longhorned tick in Tennessee.
