Tullahoma approves hire of Williams as police chief

The Tulllahoma Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted 6-1 in a meeting Monday night to approve the hire of Jason Williams as the chief of police for the Tullahoma Police Department. The move comes at the recommendation of city administrator Jennifer Moody.  The board had to approve Moody’s recommendation, per city charter. Alderman Daniel Berry was the lone dissenting vote.  Williams was one of four finalists for the position. Currently he is the chief deputy of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department. Manchester police trying to identify driver who nearly struck child in school zone

The Manchester Police Department needs your help identifying the driver of a vehicle. According to MPD, This vehicle sped through College Street Elementary school zone last week, passed two buses with their warning lights and stop signs activated and nearly struck a child getting off one of the buses. New students sworn in as safety patrol cadets

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department held ceremonies Monday to swear in students into its Cadet Safety Patrol program.  A total of five students at North Coffee Elementary, six at Hillsboro and six at New Union elementary school were sworn in to the program Monday. All of the students are fifth graders. The cadets are selected by teachers at each elementary school and will have duties of helping with special events at the school and other duties through the year. Coffee County Commission set to meet Tuesday

The Coffee County Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Coffee County Administrative Plaza. There are several items on the agenda, one of them is voting to fill the empty seat in District 8 – a seat that was vacated by Emily Howes, who moved from the district earlier this year. After a brief spike, gas prices in Tennessee are on their way back down. As of Monday, the average gas price in Tennessee for a gallon of regular unleaded stood at $2.25, which is a whopping 31 cents below the national average.
