Murfreesboro Police looking for shooting suspect
Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) detectives are searching for the man who shot a woman multiple times and fled the scene early Saturday morning, July 4. The shooting took place at the Midtown Estates Apartments on Battle Ave. about 7:15 a.m. An arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect, Brandon Francis, 26. The preliminary investigation shows Francis shot his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend and then left the scene. The victim is in the hospital in critical condition. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee on Friday granted authority to mayors in 89 counties in Tennessee that would allow them to issue face mask mandates amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Manchester fireworks set for Saturday; hear synchronized music on Thunder Radio at 107.9 FM
The City of Manchester annual Independence Day celebration will include fireworks on Saturday, July 4. Local police are searching for a Moore County man after he allegedly shot someone in Tullahoma on Thursday. Unemployment falls as jobs increase; continued claims fall in Tennessee
Good news and bad news when it comes to Tennessee unemployment claims for last week. According to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce, new claims for statewide unemployment continued an upward trend for the second straight week, with 22,256 new claims for the week ending June 27. That makes 666,055 new claims filed since COVID-19 pandemic began affecting unemployment in mid-march. However, continued claims went down for the seventh consecutive week and is now at 262,224 – which is still abnormally high. In Coffee County, there were 2,227 continued claims.
