Local elections and state primaries will culminate on election day on August 4. Early voting begins Friday, July 15 and will end on July 30th. The August 4th election will include County General Election, Manchester municipal along with the state and federal primary elections. Races of note A few winners from the May 3 primary will square off against Independent candidates in August who were not on the May 3 ballot; while others will be Republican and Democratic winners from May 3 facing each other. McMinnville man charged with attempted criminal homicide

A McMinnville man is facing charges of attempted criminal homicide after shooting his roommate during an argument that allegedly took place early on July 4, 2022. William Fernandez, age 21, is in jail and being held without bond. Fernandez allegedly shot 25-year old Devon Grove at their residence on Mauzy St. Detective Todd Rowland with McMinnville PD told WOWC that Grove told Fernandez to pack up and leave. Potomac horse fever reported in nearby Murfreesboro, Dekalb County

The State Veterinarian’s office has confirmed two cases of Potomac horse fever. One is in Rutherford County and the other in Dekalb County. Freshwater snails are the source of the bacteria that causes Potomac horse fever. Horses may be exposed when drinking from creeks or rivers, and can then suffer from colic, fever, and diarrhea. Potomac horse fever has not been found to directly transmit from horse to horse. Manchester water department to perform semi-annual flushing over next two weeks; drop in water pressure possible

In an effort to improve quality of water in the distribution system, the Manchester Water and Sewer Department has announced it will be performing its semi-annual cannon flushing of fire hydrants. System-wide flushing will take place Monday through Friday during the weeks of July 11 and July 18 during the hours of midnight to 5:30 a.m. During this event, water customers may experience low pressure and discoloration of water. Heat advisory in place for Coffee County through Friday

Dangerous heat will continue across the midstate, including Coffee County, through Friday. The US National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Coffee County and other counties in the eastern portion of Middle Tennessee. Meanwhile, NWS has issued a Excessive Heat Warning for many other nearby counties, including Bedford, Moore and Rutherford counties. Excessive Heat Warning meats heat index values are expected to reach north of 110.
