Charles Edward Broadrick, Sr.

Broadrick, Sr., Charles Edward, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday, December 25th, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family at the age of 87. Mr. Broadrick was born in Tullahoma to the late Roy and Ethel Garner Broadrick. During his life he owned and operated Broadrick Auto Supply and was a member of Wilson Avenue Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Broadrick was preceded in death by five brothers, Eugene, Archie, Ross, Roy and Leighton Broadrick; and one infant sister, Ethel Florence Broadrick. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Broadrick; one son, Chuck Broadrick and his wife Tracy; one sister, Joyce Winton; and one granddaughter, Tabbitha Anders and her husband Don. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 31st, 2020 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 1st, 2021 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Jeanne Willis Bryant

Bryant, Jeanne Willis, of Newport News, Virginia, passed this life on Friday, December 25th, 2020 at her family’s home in Estill Springs, surrounded by her children.  Jeanne was born in Morehead City, North Carolina in August of 1932 to the late Fredrick Earl Willis and Virginia Guthrie Willis. and moved to the Hampton/Newport News, Virginia area when she and her two sisters were in Junior High School. She graduated from Hampton High School in the Class of 1950 where she was a member of the cheerleading squad and a devoted “Crabber”.  Jeanne and her husband, Buddy Bryant lived in the Grandview area where they raised their 3 children. Jeanne followed Buddy’s and son, Tom’s interest in sports through fast-pitch softball in Fox Hill, Little League, Pony League, American Legion, and Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School baseball. Her role as “fan in the stands” continued into basketball season starting with Youth leagues followed by teams at Spratley Junior High, and Kecoughtan High School. Jeanne worked for and retired from the State of Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles in 1987. After retirement, she and Buddy moved to Tennessee to join their daughter, Diane and assist with the newly expanded Olympia Health and Racquet Center in Tullahoma. Their son, Tom managed the fitness center, Buddy became the Racquet Sports coordinator and Jeanne learned to play tennis at the age of 55. She and Buddy returned to their home in Hampton Virginia in 1994 where they continued their tennis involvement as a part of several local tennis groups at the Hampton Tennis Center and Newport News Centre Court. Jeanne continued to play women’s doubles until fall of 2011 when she retired her tennis racquet at the age of 79. Her final 5 years she resided at the Arbors in Port Warwick where her daughter, Barbara was a frequent visitor. Jeanne was an avid Bridge and Dominoes player, loyal UVA sports supporter, and matriarch of a network of her extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Bryant; one sister, Norma Armstrong; and one son-in-law, Arthur Wilson. Jeanne is survived by one son, Tom Bryant (Doris) of Mechanicsville, Virginia; and two daughters, Barbara Bryant of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Diane Bryant (Ron Mayes) of Estill Springs; one sister, Mary Mosby (Bob) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; three grandchildren, Kaitlin Botts (Chris), Chase Bryant and Rachel Bryant; and one great-granddaughter, Mia Botts. A memorial service is planned for late spring at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton, Virginia.

Janet J Hall

Janet J Hall of Tullahoma passed this life on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at
Boulevard Terrace Healthcare in Murfreesboro at the age of 88. No services
are scheduled.

Janet, a native of Detroit, MI, was the daughter of the late Ernest and
Leila Roberts Gibbs.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed flower gardening
and teaching Sunday school.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Gloria
Hollingsworth.

Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Cyril E. Hall of Tullahoma;
daughters, Jancy Traversa (Doug) of Tullahoma and Amy Fleming (Peter) of
Massachusetts; brother, Douglas Gibbs (Camille) of Arkansas; six
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Cheryl Roland

Cheryl Roland of Petersburg passed this life on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Elk River Health and Rehabilitation in Ardmore at the age of 61. No services are scheduled at this time.

Ms. Roland was the daughter of Bill Roland and the late Barbara Luna Roland of Fayetteville. She loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed camping and canoeing. 

In addition to her father, she is survived by daughter, Amber Ann Davy (Chris) of Las Vegas; brothers, Jimmy Thompson (Bella) of Fayetteville and Lee Roland (Laura) of Fayetteville; sister, Christie Brown (Michael) of Pulaski; grandchild, Destin Davy.

John H. Roberson

John H. Roberson, 92, of Manchester, died Wednesday, Dec. 23. 

Born in Smithfield, N.C., on May 24, 1928, Roberson graduated from Cleveland High School before earning an associate degree from Mars Hill College, a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University, and a master’s degree from West Virginia University.  He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and completed aviation training in 1953 at Malden Air Base, Mo., where he met his future wife, Bettye J. Wall.  They were married March 28, 1953.

Roberson flew the F-86 and F-86D before becoming a civilian instructor pilot for the Air Force.  Recalled to active duty in 1961, he flew the C-123 and F-4 and served in the Vietnam War in 1962 and 1969.  He retired from the Air Force in 1979 while on the faculty of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla.  He then began a second career as an engineer for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, Mo.  He retired in 1990 to Manchester, where he raised beef cattle and pine trees.

Roberson was an American Contract Bridge League Silver Life Master, a hunter and competitive pistol shooter, a woodworker, a lifelong Methodist, and until his last years an active volunteer for various civic and charitable projects.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye;, and by his sons David H. (wife Nancy) of Nashville, Mark S. (Christine) of Oldsmar, Fla., Philip W. of Concord, N.C., Alan Y. of Ormond Beach, Fla., and daughter Ann M. Young (Dana) of Chesterfield, Mo. ; and 15 grandchildren.   His youngest son, John M., preceded him in death in 1972.

A celebration of lie will be held Monday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Manchester. Arrangements are by Manchester Funeral Home.

Elsie Alberta Davidson Woodard

Mrs. Elsie Alberta Davidson Woodard, age 84, of
Tullahoma, TN, passed from this life on Thursday, December 24, 2020, in
Fayetteville, TN.

Mrs. Woodard was born in Bedford Co., TN, to her late parents Jessie
Davidson and Ruth Rippy Davidson. She was of the Baptist faith. In her free
time, Mrs. Woodard was very involved in fishing and would go any time of
year no matter the circumstances. She also loved cooking and playing cards
and bingo. Mrs. Woodard lived her life to the fullest, enjoyed life and
loved having a good time. She will be missed by her dear family who she
loved so much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, George Woodard; sons, Melvin Woodard and Clarence Woodard;
daughter, Francis Woodard; brother, James Davidson; and sisters, Willie
Sims and Betty Noon.

Mrs. Woodard is survived by sons, Jimmy (Barbara) Woodard, Larry Charles
(Ann) Woodard, and Daniel Woodard; brothers, Cecil Davidson, Jerry
(Carolyn) Davidson, and John (Vickie) Davidson; sisters, Lovie Mitchell,
Louise Wellington, and Theresa (Sammy) Northcutt; sister-in-laws, Margaret
Holman and Lily Woodard; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and
great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 12 noon
until 1:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral services
will be conducted immediately following visitation at 1:00pm in the chapel
of Central Funeral Home with Pastor Theresa Northcutt officiating. Burial
will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Tullahoma, TN.

Ronald Dale Sons

Sons, Ronald Dale, of Wartrace, passed this life on Thursday, December 24th, 2020 at Unity Medical Center at the age of 77. Mr. Sons was born in Tullahoma to the late Emmett and Katie Lawson Sons. He served his country proudly in the National Guard during Desert Storm and went on to work as an Electrical Operator at AEDC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Darden Sons, who passed away just three days before he did; and one brother, Danny Sons. Mr. Sons is survived by his two brothers, Tony and Bobby Sons. A graveside service for both Mr. and Mrs. Sons will be held on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020 at Maplewood Cemetery with Bro. David Wall officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Alzheimer’s Tennessee, P.O. Martha Ida Fletcher Swanger

Funeral services for Martha Ida Fletcher Swanger, age 95 of Manchester, will be graveside at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens at 1 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020. Family visitation will be at 10:00 AM, and all others from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020, at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel. Martha passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday morning at McArthur Manor from an extended illness.

Martha was born in Summitville, TN to Vernon and Ruth Fletcher, August 16, 1925. She graduated from Coffee County High School and enjoyed many class reunions. Martha had various jobs in her lifetime, but her family, church, and community were her most favorite. She was a dedicated and founding member of Forest Mill Church of Christ. Martha put God first and foremost in her life and that was evident through her personality and prayer life. Whether it was a handwritten card or a hug, she always encouraged every soul as: Forest Mill 4H Club, Summitville Homemakers Club, and VIPs. She kept busy with many hobbies, including gardening (especially iris), playing cards, baking, journaling, and sending cards in the most beautiful handwriting.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde E. Swanger; brothers, John (Buster) Fletcher, Basil Fletcher; son-in-law, Lee Whitham; granddaughter, Christy Whitham. She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Steve) Gannon of Smyrna, Cindy Whitham of Manchester; one sister, Nelda Twitchell (Richard) of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Tyler (Melissa) Gannon of Smyrna, Andrew (Katie) Gannon of Murfreesboro, and Lindsey (Nick) Hibdon of Manchester; and especially proud of her great grandchildren; Aaron and Rylee Gannon, Jackson and Griffin Hibdon, and Mac Gannon. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, church family and friends. Katie Mae Judge

Katie Mae Judge of Manchester passed this life on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital at the age of 65. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 30 at 11:00AM at Gum Creek Cemetery.

A native of Coffee County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Goldie Payne Johnson. She loved God and her family. Mrs. Judge was kind and had a heart for people, always put others before herself.

In addition the her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; daughter, Betty Jane Judge; son-in-law, Jimmy Pinegar.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Judge; sons, Mark Johnson (Debbie), Kenny Judge (Angel), Keith Judge (Erica); daughter, Goldina Pinegar; brother, Jerold Johnson (Darlene); sister, Janie Crouch; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.

Terry Wade Priest

Terry Wade Priest of Estill Springs passed this life on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Vanderbilt Hospital at the age of 63. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 2:00PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Little Hurricane Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home on Monday, December 28 from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Mr. Priest was born in Tullahoma to the late Raymond Priest and Gerline Weaver Priest.  He was a member at Little Hurricane Baptist Church and enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting. He and his wife, Gayle, liked to travel and had just bought their dream beach bungalow last year, where they had just begun to spend quite a bit of time.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Gayle Priest of Estill Springs; son, Steven Priest of Nashville; daughter, Jennifer Priest of Estill Springs; brother, Tim Priest (Shanon) of Winchester; sisters, Lisa Lee (Troy) of Estill Springs and Wanda Priest of Estill Springs; son-in-law, Jacob Bower of Tullahoma; brothers-in-law, Mike Ray (Patsy) of Tullahoma and Pat Ray (Rita) of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews.
