Mary Frances Jones
Mary Frances Jones of Estill Springs passed this life on Saturday, January
30, 2021 at her residence at the age of 62. No services are scheduled.
A native of Coffee County, she was the daughter of the late Norman Earl and
Sara Ruth Wimly Cook. She was a former member of Decherd First Baptist
Church and enjoyed cooking, reading and being with her grandchildren. “She
was a wonderful mother.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in by one great grandchild.
She is survived by son, Bruce Jones Jr of Estill Springs; daughter, Misty
Brown of Estill Springs; brothers, Daryl Cook of Estill Springs and Michael
Cook; sisters, Nancy Long of Hillsboro and Kathleen Cook of Tullahoma;
grandchildren, Sara Abigale and Ethan Brown and great grandchild, Jaiden
Brown.

Gladys B Spry
Gladys B Spry of Manchester passed this life on Friday, January 29, 2021 at
her residence at the age of 72. No services are scheduled.
A native of Spencer, she was the daughter of the late Timothy Dalt and Lois
Brymer. She enjoyed collecting antiques, fishing and watching old Western
shows and movies on TV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Raymond
Lawson and Michael Spry Sr; brothers, Estill and Bobby Brymer and sisters,
Polly Ann Boyd, Beverly Hester and Mae Talley.
She is survived by son, Tim Lawson (Cristy) of Manchester; brothers, Larry
Hugh Brymer of Estill Springs and Andrew Jackson Brymer of McMinnville and
sister, Melanie June Brymer of Grundy County.

Dixie Austin Whitaker
Dixie Austin Whitaker of Decherd, Tennessee passed away January 29th
peacefully, at her home. The daughter of the late Richard M. and Mary P.
Austin, she was born in 1931, raised in Decherd. She was a cheerleader for
and graduated from Franklin County High School. Thereafter, she studied at
the University of Georgia and Tennessee Technological University. After her
graduation from college in 1953 she began teaching at Tullahoma’s West
Junior High School. She later taught, for many years, various grades at
East Lincoln Elementary School in Tullahoma. She loved and never stopped
talking about her students. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry T.
(Tommy) Whitaker, who she married in 1955. Her surviving children are Mary
Nell Hess (Bill) of Decherd, Richard M. Whitaker (Barbara) of Clearwater,
Florida, and Dixie Ann Anderson (Casey) of Decherd. Her oldest son, Henry
Thomas (Tommy) Whitaker, predeceased her. She is survived by twelve
grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The couple moved from
Tullahoma to Decherd in 1974 and lived a very happy married life there
until Tommy’s death in 1995. Thereafter, Dixie enjoyed her children and
grandchildren in Decherd until her health just recently failed. The family
will conduct a graveside service at Mount Gardner Cemetery, in Decherd.
Once the COVID virus retreats, the family plans to have a memorial service.

Clyde Junior Shelton
Funeral services for Mr. Clyde Junior Shelton, age 95 years, 1 month, and
27 days, of Manchester, will be conducted on Monday, February 1, 2021, at 1
PM in the Manchester Funeral Home chapel with pastor Roger Brown
officiating. Burial will follow in the Hurricane cemetery. Visitation with
the family will be held on Monday from 12 Noon until time of service at the
funeral home. Mr. Shelton passed away on Thursday, January 28.

Mr. Shelton was born on December 1, 1925, in Lakeland, FL, to the late
Clyde E. and Helen Roberts Shelton. He was a material clerk for Caterpillar
for 37 years. He was a member of the Bell Spring United Methodist Church in
the Noah community. Mr. Shelton enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting, gardening,
shooting, and digging ginseng.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelton is preceded in death by two
brothers, Bill and Glenn Shelton and sister, Margaret Johnston. He is
survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Mildred Ruth Simmons Shelton; son
Danny Shelton and his wife, Eliosa; daughter, Patsy A. Shelton;
grandchildren, Chessie Elizabeth Dow and her husband, Jonathan, and Claire
Diane Shelton; great grandchildren, Reagan and Caroline Dow; brothers,
Harold, Sam, and Don Shelton; several nieces and nephews.

Joseph Melvin Meadows
Mr. Joseph Melvin Meadows, age 88, of Hillsboro, TN, passed from this life on Friday, January 29, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Meadows was born in Haley, TN, to his late parents Henry Norris Meadows
and Lettie Gertrude Shofner. He served our country in the United States
Army in his early years, then went to work for AEDC as a pipefitter until
his retirement. Mr. Meadows was a faithful member of Hillsboro Church of
Christ. He was an avid gardner, loved fishing, watching westerns, boxing, a
good football game, and horseshoes. Mr. Meadows was affectionately known by
his grandchildren as “Horseshoe” or “Biscuit Boy.” In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Story Meadows; sisters,
Glyndon Aaron, Muriel Phillips, Nancy Willis, and Cassie Morrow; brothers,
Shofner Meadows and Jackie Meadows; two daughters, Trina Wooden and Susan Sweeton.
Mr. Meadows is survived by two children, Ronald D. (Vanessa) Meadows and
Gina Moore; grandchildren, Danielle (Wayne) Medley, Ashley Meadows, and
Seth Moore; great grandchildren, Cyrus Medley, Trey Medley, John Medley,
and Wayne Allen Medley; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 31, 2021, from 12 noon until
2:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral services will be
conducted immediately following visitation at 2:00pm in the chapel of Central Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Monday, February 1, 2021, at 1:00pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, TN.

John Earl Flath
John Earl Flath, of Wartrace, passed this life on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021 at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro at the age of 75. Mr. Flath was born in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Clarence and Mae Ogg Flath. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Flath then went on to work as a Math Professor at Motlow State Community College and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tullahoma. He is survived by his wife, Connie Flath; two daughters, Julie Flath and her fiancé Jason Kreider and Jennifer Flath and her fiancé John Craig; one granddaughter, Savannah Ruth Craig; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Hayden, and Ariel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021 at 11:00am at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Revs. Alex Hoffner and Stephen Yates officiating. Freda Mae Eslick Dye
Born April 9, 1937
A native of Moore County, daughter of the late Horace and Lavonia Sullenger Eslick. She was a graduate of MCHS class of 1956 and was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Christopher Dye; son, James Eddie Dye; sisters, Pauline Sanders, Sue Bain, Ann Pierce; brothers, Jack Eslick, Milton Eslick; daughter-in-law, Helen Platz Dye.
She is survived by son, Bobby Dye of Lynchburg; sisters, Hilda Eslick of Lynchburg, Hazel Brazzell of Ohio; brother, Harlan Eslick of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Dickey of Lynchburg, James Matthew Dye of Nashville, Tanya (Wesley) Porter of Manchester, Kandi (Josh) Brannon of Belvidere; daughter-in-law, Sybil Dye of Elora.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 2PM. The family will welcome friends for a visitation at Lynchburg Funeral Home from 1PM until the time of service.

at Vanderbilt Medical Center at the age of 79. Private family services are

*A native of Lee County, VA Joyce was the daughter of the late Claude and
Mossie Maddle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband Don Toler; 4 sisters and 3 brothers. She was a member of Grace
Baptist Church and an avid reader. Mrs. Toler retired from the office of
the Christian Church of Indianapolis, Indiana. She also served as the board
member for the Black Star Alumni Association of Alva Kentucky. *

Robert “Bob” Pepper
Robert “Bob” Pepper, passed away on January 24th, 2021 in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Covid-19 took him from his loving family far too soon. He is survived by his wife, Joan Pepper, son, Josh Pepper, daughter, Jessica Tunjic, and her husband, Zoran Tunjic; siblings Ethel Hendrickson, John Pepper, Carolyn Wood, and Richard Pepper. He is preceded in death by parents William and Helen Pepper, and his sister, Grace Wills. Bob was born in Washington, Iowa on June 9th, 1951. He married his best friend, Joan Pepper on October 6th, 1984 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They raised two wonderful children with love and a sense of responsibility for the future. “Clean your plate” and “save your money” still rings true in their ears. Employed by Amana/Goodman for 46 years, Bob was a skilled draftsman and engineer, nicknamed “Doc” by his Amana friends. His talents in woodworking were constantly shared with friends and family. Bob loved being outdoors and spending time with his family: boating, camping, and trying to fish. Bob was an avid blood donor, and his family will fondly remember his extensive collection of blood donor t-shirts. He was a lifelong dedicated Catholic. Bob will be missed, we mourn not only his unexpected death, but the years left he so richly deserved. A graveside service will be held January 31, 2021 at 2:30pm at Rose Hill Memorial Garden with Father Stephen Klasek officiating. Donna Ann Bush
Donna Ann Bush of Wartrace passed this life on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at
St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital at the age of 71. Private family services
are scheduled. *
*A native of Columbus, MS, Mrs. Bush was the daughter of the late John and
Mamie Hollingsworth Robinson. She was a member of Riley Creek Baptist
Church and she was very active in her church. She enjoyed working as a
dental assistant and playing golf.*
*In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary
Hammett and Jean Taylor.*
*Mrs. Bush is survived by her husband, Dan Bush of Wartrace; daughter,
Wendy Boyce (Gary) of Shelbyville; brother, Bill Robinson (Shelia) of
