Jewell Elizabeth (Little) Dillard

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Elizabeth (Little) Dillard, age 93 of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00PM on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Manchester Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Cypress Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 9:00PM on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the funeral home.  Mrs. Dillard passed from this life on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Manchester Health Care Center in Manchester, TN. 

Gene Maurice Welch

Gene Maurice Welch age 80 of Asbury, Tennessee received his heavenly promotion on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Mr. Welch passed at the NHC nursing home in Tullahoma, Tennessee after a brief stay following a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted through the Manchester Funeral Home with burial following at the Asbury Cemetery.  

Gene was born in Lincoln County Tennessee in the Flintville community to James Hewel Welch of Flintville and Katie Pearl Welch. As one of nine children Gene grew up in the Asbury community and was a graduate of Coffee County Central High School. Gene was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1960-1964. Upon leaving the service Gene became a licensed Electrician, working at Raines Lumber Company, becoming a partner of G&R Electric, Carrier Corporation, and finally from AEDC from which he retired in 2004 after thirty-one years of service. Gene married Mary Elizabeth Freeze of Manchester and together they had 6 children; Pamela Sue, Linda Sue, Daryl, Mark, Clay, and Sarah. Gene through different periods in the course of his life was a farmer who raised hogs and beef. He thoroughly enjoyed working in the garden and orchard and grew a significant portion of the food that he and his family ate. He was a hard-working man that was well liked and respected in the community serving as Asbury cemetery trustee for numerous years. Gene was a member and deacon of the Temple Baptist church, attended the Asbury Methodist Church, and numerous other community churches. Gene felt he was called to teach Sunday School and traveled where he felt the lord lead him. He was a devout man of faith and lived a life that reflected his dedication to the Lord.  

Gene is preceded in death by his parents James Hewel and Katie Pearl; sisters,  Zuleika June of Oklahoma City, OK and Marilyn Janice Terry of Munice, IN; brothers, Joe Welch of Manchester, TN, and James (Jim) R. Welch of Asbury, TN; children, Pamela Sue, Linda Sue, and Daryl all of Manchester. He is survived by brother Gerald (Jerry) Welch of San Antonio, Texas; sisters; Judy Bell of Summitville, TN, Daphne Jane Fletcher of New Johnsonville, TN, and  Jennifer Stykes of Murfreesboro, TN; Children; Mark of Manchester, TN, James (Clay) of Dover Tennessee, and Sarah; grandchildren, Heather Grigsby, Colby Welch, Jessica Bevelacqua, Tyler and Shelby Cavendar, Drew Welch, Wesley Haggard, Katie Welch, Trystin Welch, Bray Marcom, and Elizalynn Welch. Gene was a devout man of faith, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather, uncle and friend who will be sorely missed until that day when we will all meet again

Larry Dale Broadrick

Larry Dale Broadrick, passed away peacefully at his home in Raus on March 18, 2021. He was surrounded by numerous family members and friends. If you have ever walked into the doors of Builder’s Supply you were indeed greeted by the man in the overalls. Larry worked as an outside salesman for Builder’s Supply for nearly 50 years, and recently retired to relish in farming, fishing, family, and watching the Roll Tide. Larry is a 1971 Graduate of Tullahoma High School and was a celebrated and honored Wildcat Athlete, playing both football and basketball. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Broadrick; daughter, Lori Timmis (Bryan) of Knoxville, son, Ken Allgood (Naomi) of Estill Springs, and daughter Angela Tooley Borgarello (Oscar) of Dallas, TX. He was born on December 20, 1952 to the late Ralph Broadrick Sr. and Elsie Garner Broadrick. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lillian Hogan and Helen Mangrum and brother, Ralph Broadrick Jr. He is also survived by sisters, Edna Moore, Betty Paris, Nellie Inglish (Don); brothers, Ben Broadrick (Phyllis), Leonard Broadrick (Patsy), Sammie Broadrick (Carol), and Harvey Broadrick (Nancy). He leaves behind 8 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 1 Red-Headed Great-Granddaughter. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21 st , 2021 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 4:00-5:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 5:00pm with Richard Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.

Robert Edward “Bob” Martin

Robert Edward “Bob” Martin , of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, March 17 th , 2021 at his home at the age of 73. Bob was born in Shelbyville to the late Houston Clay Martin and Mary Elizabeth Waye Martin. During his life he worked as a general manager at Mid-South Distributing. Bob was a former member of the American Legion Post 43, and was had also served as a volunteer fireman with the Tullahoma Fire Department. He enjoyed playing golf and a good card game, and was an avid Tennessee Volunteer Football fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, H. Clay Martin; two sisters, Barbara Pyrdum and Marie Moran; two nieces, Carol Pyrdum and Teresa West; and two nephews, Rod Carol and David Tribble. Bob is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Martin and her fiancé Derek Clark; three granddaughters, Alise, Alexis and Kaitlyn Clark; two sisters, Betty Young and Kay Woodlee; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21 st , 2021 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 11:00am-1:00pm with the funeral to immediately follow at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Glenn Thomas “Tom” Avey

Mr. Glenn Thomas “Tom” Avey, age 86, of Manchester, TN, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Avey was born in Dayton, OH, to his late parents Oren Glen Avey and
Edna Mae Hawkins Avey. He served our country in the United States Air Force
during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Avey was retired from the United States
Postal Service and was a member of the Ezel Lodge #381 as a Mason. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Phyllis
Cromley, David Avey, Mildred Lackey, and Mary Downing.

Mr. Avey is survived by his loving wife, Karen Jernigan Avey; son, Michael
(Amy) Avey; grandchildren, Madeline and Hawkins; brother, Daniel Avey;
several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 21, 2021, from 12 noon until
2pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral service will be
conducted following the visitation at 2pm in the chapel of Central Funeral
Home with James Colwell officiating. Burial will immediately follow in
Bethany Cemetery near Normandy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Mr. Avey’s memory be

Cindy Roberts

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Cindy Roberts, loving
mother, aunt, sister and friend, passed away at age 53. Cindy was born May 2, 1967 in Tullahoma Tennessee to the late John Buford Bennett Jr. and Marilyn Faye (Tankersley) Burks.

Cindy began a career in healthcare at the age of 16 and became a registered nurse in 1997. She dedicated her life to serving others in healthcare. Cindy diligently worked her way through the ranks of the healthcare ladder from a Candy Striper to at the time of her passing the Vice President of Clinical Operations Mid-South Division for Signature Healthcare.

Cindy was a loving and caring mother to her son, Chris. Cindy had a passion for photography, reading, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved taking trips to the beach, cruises, and most of all spending time with her two dogs, Bentley and Daisy. She was a passionate person who was incredibly humble and encouraging to those around her.

She is Proceeded in death by her father John and her brother Scott Bennett.

She is survived by mother, Marilyn Faye Burks of Tullahoma, TN; son Chris (Kayley) Perry of Manchester, TN; sister, Kristy Bennett of Tullahoma, TN; brother, Brian Bennett of Tullahoma, TN; nieces, Kylee Benitez of Tullahoma, TN, Ashleigh Nicole Hill of Tullahoma, TN, Halie Bennett of Manchester, TN, Jessica Bennett of Manchester, TN, Ally Bennett of Winter Springs, FL; nephews, John Bennett of Winter Springs, FL, and Austin Bennett of Chattanooga, TN.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 19, 2021, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 2:00pm in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma, TN. Family will also receive visitors from 10am until the time of the service on Saturday.

John Lester Smith

John Lester Smith of Tullahoma passed this life on Tuesday, March 16, 2021
at his residence at the age of 97. Graveside Services are scheduled for
Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 3 PM at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

A native of Franklin County, he was the son of the late Luther Cleveland
and Lela Jane Stovall Smith. He was a US Army WW II veteran and a member of
the Raus Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for many years. He
worked with is wife and son in the Smith Auto Repair family business, He
enjoyed fishing, camping, working jigsaw puzzles and farming. He loved
being with his family, especially the grandchildren, great grandchildren
and great great grandchildren.  In 1971, he and his wife, Ava Christine
traveled with a camper from Tennessee to Fairbanks, Alaska to see their
first grandchild. Mr. Smith also loved his faithful dog companion, Topper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ava
Christine Glascoe Smith; brothers, Chester and Robert Smith and sisters,
Bernice and Ruby Preston.

Mr. Smith is survived by son, Ricky Smith and his wife, Barbara of
Tullahoma; daughter, Kay Reynolds and her husband, Glen of Tullahoma;
grandchildren, Glenda Painter and her husband, Dan of Tullahoma, Greg
Reynolds and his wife, Lori of Tullahoma, Adam Reynolds and his wife, Beth
of Murfreesboro and Barry Smith and his wife, Kim of Tullahoma; ten great
grandchildren and two great great grandsons.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in his name

James “Jim” Almon Young

Young, James “Jim” Almon of Tullahoma passed this life on Monday, March 15, 2021 at his home at the age of 77. Mr. Young was born in Pulaski, TN to the late Henry and Lillie Dugger Young. Jim was a devoted UT sports fan, an avid golfer, and a musician, he played the tuba in the Giles Co. Marching Band in high school. He served his country proudly in the Army National Guard for six years. He was a car enthusiast, a dog lover, and anything he did in life he did 100%. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Newman Young of Tullahoma; two sons, Brian McCoy (fiancée Heather Brockman) of Madison, AL, and Brent McCoy (fiancée Lauren Franke) of Madison, AL; two brothers, Don Young (Melissa) of The Villages, FL, and Joe Young (Sandy) of Pulaski, TN; five nieces and nephews, Lucy Terrill, Jack Young, Molly Winterton, Mack Young, and Riley Young; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Don Jackson- with whom he served in the National Guard, and Bill York. Visitation for Mr. Young will be held on Saturday, March 20 th , 2021 from 11:00-1:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home with funeral services to immediately follow at 1:00 in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Elbert Smith officiating. John W. Greeter

John W. Greeter, age 85 of Cowan, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. He was born in Chattanooga on September 14, 1935 to the late Harvey and Ethel (Roberson) Greeter and had served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. Before his retirement, John had been the owner and operator of Greeter Building Center. He had a great interest in politics and was a strong advocate of education for all children. He was an active member of the Friends of South Cumberland and had earned the Jim Prince Memorial Award for his years of service and leadership in the group. John was a kind and generous man, and he always saw that others had what they needed. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alan Greeter; and wife, Lois Bradley Greeter. John is survived by his loving companion, Sandra Johnson of Cowan; daughter, Patricia Nobles of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Ashton Nobles, Caleb Purdue, Seth Nobles, Lauren Elizabeth Harless, Mary Madison Tesler, and John Parkes Tesler; fur babies, Coco and Teddie; and extended family, Brad (Keri) Thompson, Everett Thompson, Angie (Jamie) Jacks, Levi Jacks, Jama (Logan) King, Brandt King, and Honey King. Mark Allen Shavers

Mark Allen Shavers, of Lynchburg, passed this life on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the age of 56. No services are scheduled at this time.

Mr. Shavers was the son of the late Ronald and Rebecca Reese Shavers and was of the Church of Christ faith. He was a lifelong resident of the Lois community in Moore County. Mark enjoyed spending time with his family, working on the farm, and hunting and fishing with his son, Will.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Diane Brown Shavers; son, Will Shavers; brother, Tim Shavers of Lynchburg; sister, Melissa Norris of Huntsville.
