7/17/12 — Cristy Renee Gipson

Cristy Renee Gipson, age 26 of Cowan, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Southern TN Medical Center.
She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Billy Sisk and father-in-law, Anthony Wayne Gipson, Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Jason Gipson of Altamont; daughters, Lily and Carly Gipson of Cowan; son, Noah Gipson of Cowan; mother, Tina Lauderdale (Gary Brady) of Cowan; father, Bobby Sisk (Stephanie Williams) of Winchester; sisters, Judy Sisk and Olivia Sisk of Cowan; stepbrother, Bud Williams of Winchester; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cheryl and Lee Roy Wilkinson of Cowan; paternal grandmother, Barbara Ann Sisk of Winchester; maternal grandparents, Betty Farless of Hillsboro and Ritus Arthur of Manchester; and niece, Chloe Sisk of Cowan.
Visitation is 5-8 PM Monday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with interment at Owens Chapel Cemetery.

7/15/12 — Michael David Smith

Michael David Smith, age 54 of Lascassas, Tennessee, passed away at his home with his family by his side on July 12, 2012.

He was a Food Chef and United States Navy Veteran.

He was born on November 16, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, James Adam Smith and Mary Jane Simmons Smith of Manchester, TN who survive.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oder & Jessie Smith; maternal grandparents, Leslie & Luceal Simmons; and grandson, Jamie Evreniadis, Jr.

He will be fondly remembered as a loving son, husband, father and brother.

7/16/12 — Donald E. Shetters

Donald E. Shetters, age 74 of Decherd, passed away Friday July13, 2012 at his home.

He was a native of Franklin County and a very talented carpenter. He enjoyed fishing and loved to build things. He was a member of Warrens Chapel Church where he enjoyed singing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois Marie Mosley Shetters and Henry Shetters, Jr.; sisters, Linda Harper and Sandra Gail Stevens; brothers, Johnny Shetters and Albert Shetters.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Lee Brinkley Shetters of Decherd; daughter, Christi Brinkley of Pulaski; son, Danny Ray Shetters of Brevard, NC; sister, Martha (Jimmy) Sherrill of Decherd; brothers, William Henry (Mable) Shetters of Estill Springs and Fred (Karen) Shetters of Decherd; 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday July 16, 2012 with Bro. J.T. Steele officiating.

Interment will follow at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Sunday evening July 15, 2012 from 5-8 p.m.

7/16/12 — William Gardner McCrary

William Gardner McCrary, of Huntland and formerly of Charlotte, NC, passed away Thursday July 12, 2012 at VA Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN.

A native of Waynesboro, NC he had made his home in Huntland for the last few years. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University and owned and operated an engineering firm, UNIMCA Inc. in Charlotte, NC.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Ashley Danielle McCrary; brothers, Samuel McCrary and Benton McCrary.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Teresa Pickett McCrary of Huntland; daughters, Lisa (Mark) McCrary Davis of Cornelius, NC, Tina McCrary Worsley of Charlotte NC and Camila McCrary Hopkins also of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Katherine McCrary Jackson and Doris McCrary Ward, both of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Kelli Davis Jack, Cari Davis, Justin Jacob and Jessica Worsley; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be conducted from the Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Monday July 16, 2012 with Mark Bolin officiating.

Interment will follow at Watson-North Memorial Park with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Monday from 11a.m till time of service.

7/15/12 — Dewey Clifton Crosslin

Dewey Clifton Crosslin, 87, of Manchester, passed away July 11th, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center after long illness.

Born in Coffee County on October 20th, 1924, he was the son of the late Thurman and Pearl Butler Crosslin.

He retired from Goodrich (formerly Cleveland Pneumatic) in Tullahoma and retired after 27 years service. He was member of local 6817 of the United Steel Workers of America.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mamie Ann Nowlin Crosslin; two daughters, Jo Anne Crosslin Cisneros and her husband Ed of Virginia and Phyllis Crosslin of Manchester; one grandson, Joel Cisneros and his wife Kristen of Virginia; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Cisneros of Virginia; one sister, Bobbie Carden and her husband Winfred “Wimpy” of Manchester; one brother, Norman Crosslin of Ohio; and many nephews, nieces, friends, and neighbors.

Mr. Crosslin is preceded in death by one brother, Howard Crosslin; and five sisters, Nellie Davis, Mabel Mason, Aline Bush, Evelyn Burks, and Hazel Crosslin.

He will be remembered as a dedicated family man who entertained family and friends alike with his humor. He loved to fish, hunt, and raise cattle.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-8:00pm on Saturday, July 14th, 2012 at Kilgore Funeral Home, where services will be conducted in the Chapel at 2:00pm on Sunday, July 15th, 2012 with Bro. Charles Williams officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Reddens Cemetery.

7/13/12 — Dona Dodd Barton

Dona Dodd Barton, age 100 of Lynchburg, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

She was born April 17, 1912; the daughter of the late Walter and Susie (Rowland) Dodd.

She was a member of the Lynchburg First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her husband, William Everett Barton, Sr. who passed away in 1984.

Surviving is son, Bill Barton of Lynchburg, TN.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday in the Jennings Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Lee officiating.

Interment will be in Lynchburg Cemetery, Lynchburg, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 181 Majors Blvd., Lynchburg.

7/12/12 —- Bettye Robison Knight

BETTYE ROBISON KNIGHT, age 96, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the home of her daughter, following an extended illness.

Ms. Knight was a member of the Estill Springs United Methodist Church.  She was a self-employed seamstress for many years and previously she was employed at the Patton Manufacturing Company in Decherd. Ms. Knight was a member of over fifty years of the Winchester Chapter #196  Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving and devoted sister, mother, and grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude “Dizzy” Knight and infant son, Claude Lee Knight, Jr. 

She is survived by her daughter Linda (Tom) Rose of Estill Springs, granddaughter, Lara (Steve) Medley of Winchester, grandsons; Bill (Julie) Rose of Conifer, Colorado, Tom (Angie) Rose of Floral City, Fla.  sisters; Ida Cohenour of Winchester, Ethel Lovett of North Ft. Myers, Fla., Henrietta Sidoli of Estill Springs. great-grandchildren; Elizabeth and Ella Medley, Caleb and Samuel Rose, Riley, Molly, and Lilly Rose, special niece, Mary Bunn Harris of Estill Springs.

Visitation for Ms. Knight will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. 

Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 12, 2012 in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services  with Bro. Joe Rutherford, officiating. 

Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer, Steve Medley, Active Pallbearers; Tom Rose, J.Tally Arnold, Mark Sidoli Tom Cohenour, Charles Cohenour and Jay Arnold. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Estill Springs United Methodist Church in her honor at P.O. Box 251, Estill Springs, TN 37330.

7/12/12 — Ronald Potts

Mr. Ronald Potts, age 63, of Tullahoma, passed away Monday night at Harton Regional Medical Center.

A native of Nashville, he was the son of Nell Coffman Potts and the late Hubert W. Potts.

He was an active photographer, especially in Tullahoma Sports and was very active in his grandson’s sporting life and loved to camp. He was also a member of the Tullahoma Booster Club.

In addition to his mother, he was survived by one daughter; Bridgett Potts of Tullahoma, one son; Brian Potts of Tullahoma, one sister; Judy Sweeney of Spring Hill, TN., one grandchild; Kristofer Potts of Tullahoma, and one nephew; Scott (Carri) Sweeney and family of Spring Hill, TN.

Memorial Services will be conducted Thursday, at 11:00AM at Cedar Lane Church of Christ with Bro. Gary Johnson officiating.

Visitation will follow the memorial service at the Church.

7/13/12 — Elizabeth Alberta Lowe

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Alberta Lowe, age 91, of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Rigsby officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lowe passed away Tuesday evening at Manchester Healthcare.

Mrs. Lowe was born in Coffee Co., TN, the daughter of the late Robert Oscar and Betty Crocker Arnold. Alberta was retired from Carrier and attended Gnat Hill Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Alberta was also preceded in death by her husband, Mannie Lowe; one son, David Lowe; one daughter, Vanita Norris; five brothers, Grady, Marvin, Junior, J.C., and Cleveland Arnold; six sisters, Clady Anderson, Opal West, Elora Anderson, Fannie Cooper, Gertie Haley, and Modean Ferrell; two grandsons, Marty Lowe and Michael Lowe; and one granddaughter, Angela Lowe.

Mrs. Lowe is survived by one son, Clebern (Lois) Lowe of Manchester; four daughters, Helena Brandon of Murfreesboro, Wanda Noblett of Tullahoma, Joyce (Connell) Frazier of Manchester, and Jodi (Bobby) Warren of Tullahoma; 10 grandchildren, Deborah Foster, Laura Hickerson, Roger Lowe, Kendell Frazier, Steve and Danny Brandon, Craig Taylor, Kyra Hill, and Brad and Toby Rapoza; 31 great grandchildren; 8 great, great grandchildren; and special friends, Lauren Tobitt and great niece, Penny McKelvey.

7/11/12 — Ramona Leteff Burrhus

Mrs. Ramona Leteff Burrhus, age 73, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at her home in Pelham, Tennessee.

Memorial Services will be scheduled at a later date.

 She was born March 12, 1939, in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Louis F. and O’Dra Pritchard Leteff Sr.

 She was a retired Truck Driver and for approximately 12 years, she and her husband, Lawrence Charles Burrhus of Pelham, did team truck driving across the country.  She was a Certified Truck Driving Instructor and Examiner and trained future examiners for Louisiana and Mississippi.  She was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed playing computer games.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Frank Leteff, Jr. and Andrew Lance Leteff and one sister, Ruby Gwen Leteff Hoffman

Mrs. Burrhus is survived by her husband, Lawrence Charles Burrhus of Pelham; two sons, Cleveland Louis Williams and his wife Doris of Virginia and Steven Clark Williams and his wife, Angela of Wartrace, Tennessee; three daughters, Donna Celeste Williams Johnson of Rock Island, Tennessee, Darryl Lynn Williams Adams and her husband, Paul of McMinnville, Tennessee and Rebecca Sue Williams Woods and her husband, James of Albany, Louisiana; two step daughters, Monica Tucker and her husband Colin of Fair Hope, Alabama and Kimberly Miller and her husband Daniel of Saraland, Alabama; one brother Robert Leteff and his wife, Faye of Central Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three sisters, Patricia Pugh of Virginia, Myrle Mixon of West Lake, Louisiana and Joyce Roark of Texas; fourteen grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
