8/25/12 — Benjamin Robin McMahan
BENJAMIN ROBIN MCMAHAN, age 34, of Manchester, passed away onTuesday, August 21, 2012, at Manchester United Medical Center.
Mr. McMahan was born in Manchester, Tenn. He was disabled.
Mr. McMahan is survived by his wife, Becky McMahan, son, Benjamin “B.J.” McMahan, parents; James and Jean McMahan, sister, Donna Williams all of Manchester.
Visitation for Mr. McMahan is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 25, 2012 until service time at 12:00 in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services.
Interment will follow in the Summitville Cemetery in Summitville, Tenn.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made by contacting Grant Funeral Services for information.

9/8/12 — Charles Allen Hubbard, Sr.
Charles Allen Hubbard, Sr., was born on June 4, 1931 in Orange, TX and died at home on August 19, 2012 in Sewanee, TN.
A graduate of the University of Houston, he practiced architecture in Houston for 43 years and was a partner in the firm of Morris Architects. While on assignment in New Orleans as Project Architect of the Shell Building, he married Sarah McCrady Shumate (Sally) in 1974. He was made a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects in 1986. Mr. Hubbard was Director of Construction and Architectural Services at Hermann Hospital in Houston for four years and retired to Colorado where he resumed an architectural practice for seven years. He and his wife, Sally, moved to Sewanee in 2005. He was a member of Rotary International and past president of the Cortez and Monteagle Rotary Clubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Allen and Inez Foreman Hubbard; son, Gerald Matthew Hubbard and brother, Albert L. Adams, Jr.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Annette H. Baker of Park City, UT and Chee H. Claus (Chuck) of Salt Lake City, UT; son, C. Allen Hubbard, Jr. of Clifton, TX; stepdaughter, Anna Dowling Heath of San Francisco, CA; stepson, E. Hayne Shumate, III (Katie) of Fort Worth, TX; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at All Saints’ Chapel, Sewanee, at 10 AM on Saturday, September 8, followed by interment in the University of the South Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Monteagle Rotary Club, All Saints’ Chapel, or the University of Houston College of Architecture.

8/25/12 — Lacy Lawson
Mr. Lacy Lawson, age 73, of Tullahoma, passed away Wednesday at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville.
A native of Franklin Co. and was the son of the late Clarence and Effie Mae Evans Lawson. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by 4 brothers, James, Frankie, Doyle and Clarence Lawson and a sister, Bessie Lawson.
Mr. Lawson was a member and Deacon at Caanan Baptist Church, a retired homebuilder, a licensed Auctioneer a United States Army Veteran and sang gospel music with the Devotionals Gospel Quartet for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Lawson of Tullahoma, daughter, Debbie (Jeff) Kirkpatrick of Tullahoma, son, James Ty (Angela) Lawson of Tullahoma, sister, Frances Thomas of Tullahoma, brothers, Tony (Mary Jane) Lawson of Tullahoma, G.W. (Betty) Lawson of Tullahoma, two sister in laws, Kathleen and Anita Lawson, five grandchildren, Austin and Danielle Kirkpatrick, Pierce, Aubrey and Emory Lawson, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Mark Woodlee.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00AM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Buck Frazier, Rev. Tim McGehee and Bro. Corey Henley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.

8/25/12 — Margaret Elizabeth Davis
Margaret Elizabeth Davis was born on January 6, 1954 in Winchester, TN to Elder Guy and Luvenia Taylor.
She departed this life on Sunday, August 19, 2012.
Margaret served the Lord for many years at Faith Ministries Christian Center, Lorain, OH, Pastor Alvin and Diana Lindsey. She is a current member of Jesus Christ Abundant Life Christian Center, Charlotte, NC, Pastor Andrew Lockhart. She worked at the Red Cross as an Administrative Assistant for the past 6 years.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, and five brothers: Annie Laura Griffea, Anna Frances Wiseman, Elder Rufus Earl Taylor, James Thomas Taylor, Elder Carl Nathaniel Taylor, Walter Davis Taylor, and Leonard Taylor.
She leaves to cherish in her loving memory her devoted and loving husband George Davis of 38 years. A loving daughter, Nanyamka (Anthony) Harris; a loving son Jelani (Ellisent) Davis. Five beautiful grandchildren: Nailah, Antonio, Amani Harris, Jayden and Elise Davis. Five brothers; Thurman (Sundra) Taylor, Howard (Dorothy) Taylor, Elder Edward (Carlene) Taylor, Bobby (Emma Gene) Taylor, Minister Charles (Beverly) Taylor. Two sisters: Minister Juanita Vanzant and Minister Doris (Rufus) Valentine. Three Sister-in-laws: Liz Taylor, Stella Taylor and Anna Taylor. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2pm from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Farris Chapel with nephews serving as pallbearers.

8/23/12 — Erin Noel Cummings
Memorial services for Erin Noel Cummings, age 33, of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church in Manchester.
Ms. Cummings passed away Monday at her residence.
Erin was born in Tucker, GA, the daughter of the late Wes C. Cummings and Elizabeth Shuford Cummings, who survives.
She was a secretary for Tullahoma Adult Mental Health Care. She served her country in the Army National Guard as Private 1st Class. Erin loved spending time with her son and family, playing guitar, loved music, reading, and decorating. She was of the Episcopal faith.
In addition to her father, Erin was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Col. Hugh G. Cummings and Rhoda Tittle Cummings; maternal grandfather, Davie W. Shuford.
She is also survived by her son, Jett Nathaniel Prince and a sister, Sasha Elizabeth (Shawn) Sloan.

8/21/12 — Oscar Franklin Meeks
Mr. Oscar Franklin Meeks age 77 of Tracy City, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at The Bridge in Monteagle.
He loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Pryor Ridge Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Gearldine Meeks; his parents Joe Vernon and Cora Elizabeth Meeks; brothers Walter and Gilliam Meeks; sisters Virginia Nunley, Hazel Dykes, and Clara Ruth Byers.
Survivors include his son Donald (Donnie) Meeks, Tracy City; daughter Cindy Moon, Tracy City; sisters Josephine Meeks, Anna Lou Anderson, and Elizabeth Caldwell all of Tracy City; grandchildren Miranda (Adam) Bennett, Dallas Moon, and Jessica Norman; great-granddaughter Shayla Bennett.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Bobby Winton and Reverend Dennis Rollins will officiate.
Burial will be in Pryor Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-9 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

8/21/12 — Zoe Ann Duke Bowen
Zoe Ann Duke Bowen, age 76 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012.
Mrs. Bowen was born on October 1, 1935 in Woodbury, TN to her parents, the late Thomas Vance Duke and Mary Josephine Duke. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Bowen; son, Tom Bowen; and brother, Sonny Duke.
She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who liked to work with flowers, cook and bake. Zoe Ann had also worked for several years with Wilson Sporting Goods sewing baseballs and softballs.
She is survived by her children, Betty Sue Collins (Russell) of Brodhead, KY and James M. Bowen (Connie) of Manchester, TN; sisters, Sally Wood and Linda Breeden both of Knoxville, TN and Betty J. Cole of Wisconsin; brothers, Richard Duke (Jeanie) of Florida, Jimmy Duke (Diane) of Wisconsin and Virgil Duke (Marsella) of Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Jason Messick, Michael Bowen, Bethany Bowen and Matt Asher all of Manchester, TN; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday evening, August 20, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brother Horace Lee Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at the Blanton Cemetery.

8/20/12 —- Greta S. Gipson
Greta S. Gipson, age 60 of Decherd, passed away on August 17, 2012. Greta was born April 18, 1952, in Winchester, Tennessee.
She attended Oak Grove Elementary and graduated from Franklin County High School in 1970. During her high school years, she was a soloist in the choir, a majorette, and in 1968, she was crowned “Miss Tennessee of Baton Twirling.” She was a lifelong member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ and active in their youth program. But a tragic accident in the fall of 1968 changed her life forever.
She received assoicate degrees in both music and accounting from Motlow State Community College. Afterwards, she operated Greta’s Studio of Voice for twenty-five years. In 1979, she was named an “Outstanding Young Woman of America.” In the early 1980’s, she was named “Tennessee’s Outstanding Woman of the Year with a Disability.” She was the founder and director of the Franklin County chapter of “Sweet Adelines.” She also served on both Governor Ned Ray McWherter’s and Governor Phil Bredesen’s Advisory Council for Vocational Rehabilitation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gaston and Thelma Barnes Gipson and a sister, Carol Linda Gipson.
She is survived by her sister, Glenda Gipson Partin of Decherd; two nieces, Stacie Partin and Stephanie (Alex) Hiscock of Decherd; two great-nieces, Shelbie Smith and Morgan Hunter; one great-nephew, Austin Scharber; four aunts, Ida Lou Disbrow of Decherd, Iva Sue Huffman and Helen Gibson of Winchester, and Aline Barnes of Cown and several cousins.
Active pallbearers are Steve Macon, Roger Wilcox, Donnie Gipson, Dennis O’Dear, Barry Barnes, and John Maybrey. Honorary pallbearers are former students of Greta’s Studio of Voice.
Visitation will be Sunday, 5-9 pm at Moore-Cortner Fuenral Home, and services will be Monday at 2:00 pm at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.
Memorial contributions may be made in Greta’s memory to the Oak Grove Church of Christ in Decherd, Tennessee.
