9/11/14 —- James M. Gammill Jr.

Mr. James M. Gammill Jr. of Lynchburg passed away Saturday September 6, 2014 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

A native of Bedford County he was a son of the late James M. Gammill and Eva Prosser Gammill.

He was a Plaster Contractor and a member of the Lynchburg First United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed tinkering and building things, he was active in his childrens lives and their activities.

He is survived by his wife Marge Gammill of Lynchburg, sons; James M. Gammill III and his wife Bobbie Sue of St. Louis, MO, Michael James Gammill and his wife Emma of Lois and Jeffery Scott Gammill and his wife Katie of Murfreesboro, daughters; Nancy Ann Robinson and her husband Rick of St. Louis, MO and Laura Lee Long and her husband Shannon of Lynchburg, his brothers; Steve Floyd Gammill and his wife Jeannie of Fort Lauderdale, FL, John Orval Gammill and his wife Mary of Okeechobee, FL, Ricky Lee Gammill and his wife Kathy of Okeechobee, FL, sister-in-law Marsha Gammill of North Carolina, sisters; Judy Julian and her husband Dave of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Patsy Gammill of Tamarac, FL and Kathy McCann and her husband Mike of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren; Andrew Robinson and his wife Carla of St Louis, Mo, Megan Robinson of St. Louis, MO, Matthew Robinson of St. Louis Mo, Dacia Gammill of St Louis, Mo, James M. Gammill IV of St Louis, MO, Blake Gammill of St. Louis, MO, Tyler Gammill of St Louis, Mo, Maebry Long of Lynchburg, Kristopher Eslick of Lynchburg, Anthony Eslick of Lynchburg, Thomas Sears of Murfreesboro and Ryan Gammill of Murfreesboro and 2 great- granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother Gary Everrett Gammill and a grandson Garrett Grayson Long.

The family will receive friends on Thursday September 11, 2014 from 4-7 PM at Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel with Memorial Services to follow at 7 PM with Bro. Ricky Lee officiating.

9/9/14 —- Marvin Gooch Carter

Funeral services Marvin Gooch Carter age 77 of Manchester will be conducted at 10 am Tuesday September 9th at the Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Howard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Blanton Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation with the Carter family will be from 8 am until service time at Manchester Funeral Home.

Mr. Carter passed this life Saturday at the Life Care Center in Tullahoma.

Mr. Carter was born in Coffee County, Tennessee the son of the late Hooper Carter and Georgia Anna Driver Carter.

He was a retired auto mechanic, having worked for Haley’s Auto Salvage. Mr. Carter loved to fish and hunt ginseng.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Carter, by 4 brothers, Benny, Billy Edward, Charles and Raymond Carter and by a sister, Anna Jones.

His survivors are:

Mr. Froland passed away Friday September 5, 2014 at the Lynchburg Nursing Center.

9/9/14 ——- MARTHA KATHY WARREN

MARTHA KATHY WARREN, age 60, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Southern TN Regional Health Systems Winchester following an extended illness.

She was born in Fayetteville, Tenn., to the late Horace Lee and Grace Johnson Warren.

She was employed for many years, before her illness, as a cashier at different retail stores in the area.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Ashley of Winchester, Son, Carl “Bug” and wife, Roberta Bryant of Lewisburg, Tenn., Daughters; Gracie Taylor and Martha Rodriquez both of McMinnville, Tenn. Brothers; Bob Warren of Tullahoma, Gilbert Warren of Lynchburg, Ralph Warren of Wheatfield, Indiana, an Uncle Fred Johnson of Huntsville, Ala., 8-grandchildren and 1-great-grandchild.  Her loving and devoted pets; Chandler and Gizmo.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2014, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Visitation with the family from 12:00 until time of the Service at 2:00, with Pastor Ronald Forrester, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gum Springs Cemetery in Flintville, Tenn.

9/3/14 —— TIMOTHY ANDREW STAMPER

TIMOTHY ANDREW STAMPER, age 49, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville following an extended illness.

Mr. Stamper was born in Jennersville, Pennsylvania to the late Carl and Evelyn Stamper.  He was disabled.

Mr. Stamper is survived by his wife, Gale Stamper of Winchester, step-children, Sarena Able of Fayetteville, Tenn., Michael Keeley of Belvidere, Lori Keeley of Lake Forrest, North Carolina and one grandson, Julian Able.

It was Mr. Stamper’s wishes that he be cremated.

No services are scheduled at this time.

9/7/14 — Charles Porter Walker

Charles Porter Walker, age 95 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on September 4, 2014 at the McArthur Manor in Manchester.

Mr. Walker was a retired United States Postal Inspector and Supervisor; a United States Army Veteran; a member of the Masonic Lodge in Manchester and a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel B. Walker; parents, Joe Wiley Walker and Mae C. Williams Walker; sister, Addean Fletcher; and brothers, Allen Walker, Ervin Walker and Elmer Walker.

Funeral services for Mr. John Riley Hill, age 50, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hill passed away Thursday afternoon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Mr. Hill was born in Coffee County, TN, the son of the late Frank and Dorothy Crosslin Hill.

He was employed as a painter for Volunteer Paint.

John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Ramona Louise Hill of Manchester; two sons, Todd (Linda) Dalton and Anthony Tyrone (Heather) Dalton, both of Manchester; two daughters, Lahonnah “Nonie” Beckhart of Shelbyville and Tabatha Ann (Chris) Gunsell of Bell Buckle; three brothers, Frankie Hill of Manchester, Randy (Pam) Hill of Virginia and Jason (Tammy) Hawkins of Manchester; two sisters, Penny Hill of Manchester and Monica (Rodney) Housand of Florida; nine grandchildren, Lane C. and Blake R. 9/7/14 —– Kenneth Wayne Cheney

Mr. Kenneth Wayne Cheney, age 71 of Morrison, Tennessee, passed from this life on September 3, 2014 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by his loving family.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Dick Cheney and Gladys Olivia Maxey Cheney, and one son Karl Wayne Cheney.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Naomi Lynn Cheney of Morrison, Tennessee, one daughter, Kendall Dawn Cheney of Manchester, Tennessee, two sons, Keith Dewayne Cheney and wife Maranda Jeane of Sulphur, Louisiana, Kevin Wayne Cheney and wife Cheyenne of Tamai, Italy, one brother Roger Dale Cheney and wife Cindy of Morrison, Tennessee, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two nieces, Destiny Ray Roberts and husband Thomas of Killeen, Texas, Fawn Maye Briggs and husband Jef of Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Mr. Kenneth was of the Baptist Faith and he attended Encounter Life Church in Manchester, Tennessee. He retired from Bridgestone after many years of service. Ken worked on computers and was very skilled in this area. Ken enjoyed camping, boating, and was a single engine IFR rated pilot. He was a fun man and he enjoyed life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services for Mr. Kenneth Wayne Cheney will be conducted on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Pastor Billy Levengood and Vern Duncan officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Red Cross.

9/5/14 —- Thomas Barger Walker

Thomas Barger Walker, age 84, passed away quietly on September 2, 2014 in Manchester, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hester May Barger Walker and Thomas Spurgeon Walker of Chalybeate, Tippah County, Mississippi.

Tom was a business major and graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. Following his military service in the Korean War, he returned to Mississippi and employment with Boatmen’s Bank where he later retired as a vice president.

Tom was a good and kind man, a devout Christian and former member of the Presbyterian Church in Southaven, Mississippi.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Martha Edmonds Walker, and his adopted family of two step-daughters, Cecilia Cavendish (James) of Manchester, Tennessee, and Tracy Patterson (Donald) of Cleveland, Ohio; three step-grandchildren, Stephen Cavendish (Jennifer), Jessica Hertter, and Nathaniel Patterson; and two step-great-grandsons.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014, Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite church or charity.

9/8/14 —— Naomi Allean Crosslin

Funeral services for Mrs. Naomi Allean Crosslin, age 89, of Manchester, will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Milton Stanley officiating.

Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, TN.

Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Crosslin passed away on Wednesday afternoon at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Mrs. Crosslin was born in Beechgrove, TN, the daughter of the late Willis and Kitty Phelps Floyd.

She was a homemaker and retired as a seamstress at Washington Manufacturing in Nashville. She was a member of Fredonia Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Naomi was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Frazier and her second husband, Charles Crosslin; her son, Larry Frazier and daughter, Barbara Tarpley. She is survived by one sister, John Anna “Johnnie” Brown of Goodlettsville, TN; grandchildren, John Robert (Amanda) Crawford of Nashville, Connie (Larry) Stetz of New Jersey, and Diane Tice of Maryland; great grandchildren, Robert J., Alan M., Joseph L. and Heather; and great great grandchildren, Petyon Grace and Madison Rose; and her two caregivers, April and Dana.
