9/19/14 —– Marian Ruth Curry Clifton

Mrs. Marian Ruth Curry Clifton, age 88 of Morrison, Tennessee, passed from this life on September 16, 2014 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents Weldon and Leona Curry, two sisters, Buell Thompson, Patty Pyle, and two brothers, Jimmy Curry, Merle Curry and one grandchild, Chad Bentley.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Cread J. Clifton, Sr., three daughters, Merry Lynn Adams and husband Paul of Smyrna, Tennessee, Linda D. Cunningham of Morrison, Tennessee, Sheila L. Webb and husband Thomas of Cookeville, Tennessee, one step-daughter, Minanette Warren and husband Gray of Alabama, one son, Cread J. Clifton, Jr. and wife Tamela of Gallatin, Tennessee, one brother, Leon Curry and wife Brenda of Georgia, four grandchildren, Cam Conry and family of Morrison, Tennessee, Cody Bentley of Alabama, Staver Anderson and family of Clarksville, Tennessee, Kyle Clifton of Gallatin, Tennessee, one great grandchild, and many other loving family members.

Mrs. Clifton was a member of the Summitville United Methodist Church for many years. She began teaching in 1948 and retired in 1990 after many years of serving as a teacher, principal, supervisor of special education, and educator. Marian was a member of the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed genealogy studies and spent countless hours organizing and preparing genealogy information to share with her family. Mrs. Clifton was a devout Christian woman, who treasured family. Her faith and her family were her life.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Marian C. Clifton will be conducted on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Danny Freeman and Pastor Jonathan Tolbert officiating.

Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Coffee County, Tennessee.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Coffee county Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to a hospice organization of your choice.

9/22/14 —— Eleanor Josephine Chatham

Memorial services for Mrs. Eleanor Josephine Chatham, age 97, of Manchester, will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 22, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Manchester with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating.

Mrs. Chatham passed away on Monday, September, 15, 2014 at McArthur Manor.

Mrs. Chatham was born in Caddo, OK, the daughter of the late Dayton Andrew and Olive Harris Teel.

She was a retired teacher at Mojave School District, after serving 17 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Manchester.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Frank” Chatham, two brothers, Doug and Dale Teel, and one sister, Veo Gustafson.

She is survived by one son, Richard (Dolores) Chatham of Fremont, CA; two daughters, Linda (Ron) Hudson of Manchester and Joan (Barry) Chatham-Ackling of Antigua, Guatemala; one brother, Alan Teel of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Fund at First Baptist Church, 1006 Hillsboro Blvd, Manchester, TN 37355.

9/20/14 —– Roy Henry Barton Sr.

 Roy Henry Barton Sr. of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, September 17th, 2014 at Life Care Center in Tullahoma at the age of 82.

Mr. Barton was born in Normandy, Tennessee to the late Bertie and Mary Ceal Thronberry Barton.

During his life he worked as a Steam Plant Operator at A.E.D.C. and was a member of the church of Christ at Cedar Land and a past member of the Tullahoma Downtown Lions Club.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Barton is preceded in death by one brother, Lavoy Barton.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Barton of Tullahoma; one son, Rusty Barton of Tullahoma; one daughter, Melanie Elam and her husband Les of Tullahoma; one brother Thomas Barton and his wife Arey Jean of Tullahoma;  sister-in- law, Susie Barton of Tullahoma; four grandchildren, Andrea Muse and her husband Greg, Deanna Bratcher and her husband Jimmy, C.T. Gurley and his wife Heather, and Amber Odette and her husband Derek; nine great-grandchildren, Madeline, Maddox, Mason, Katelyn, Tucker, Lilly, Spencer, Kaydence, and Alex; nephew and niece, Bruce Brayton and Jennifer Baker; and his beloved dogs, Annie and Ryan.

Visitation for Mr. Barton will be held on Friday, September 19th, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20th, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pat Allison officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma.

Active pallbearers will be Rusty Barton, Dusty Hereford, Rick Hereford, Eddie Barton, Bruce Brayton, and Josh Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be James Myers, Ken Farler, and Orville Glenn.

9/20/14 —– Martha Josephine Knight

Mrs. Martha Josephine Knight, age 90 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, September 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Knight, a native of Coffee County, she was the daughter of the late Amacie Muse and Delia Dyson Knight. Mrs. Knight was a member of Westside Pentecostal Church.

She enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil L. Knight.

Mrs. Knight is survived by her son, Wayne Knight of Moore County, Tennessee, one half –brother, Billy Muse of Christiana, Tennessee, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

9/19/14 —– Sam P. Morton

Sam P. Morton, age 71 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on September 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Morton was a farmer and recipient of the TN State Outstanding Young Farmer in 1972 and the Rotary Farmer Award in 1979; a Coffee County Commissioner for 12 years; Fire Chief of the New Union Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years; and a member of the New Union Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Omar and Margaret Morton; and sisters, Clara McCartney and Betty Stutler.

flowers 8Sam is survived by his loving wife, Anna Rose Burnett Morton of Manchester, TN; son, Sammy P. Morton and his wife Amala of Manchester, TN; daughter, Angela M. Harris and her husband Kyle of Manchester, TN; two sisters, Esther Henning of Indiana and Linda Cole of Tennessee; a brother, Bill Morton and his wife Evelyn of Indiana; five grandchildren, Brett Harris, Dillon Harris, Abagayle Morton, Ashlynn Morton and Samuel Morton all of Manchester, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.

flower 13D.M.Coker, age 80, of Decherd, Tenn. departed this life on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at The Willows At Winchester following a brief illness.

Mr. Coker was born in Winchester, Tenn. to the late Jim and Katie Walls Coker.

He was of the Baptist Faith. He was employed for many years at the Franklin Farmers Co-op in Decherd at the Tire Center before his retirement. Mr. Coker was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball fan and loved to play poker.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Coker of Decherd, Sons; Danny D. (Wanda) Coker of Decherd and Randall Coker of Hillsboro, Tenn., Sister, Sue Willie (Bill) Payne of the Greenhaw Community, Brother, James (Brenda) Coker of Winchester, Grandchildren; Chris Coker, DeeAnn Coker Scott, Cassie Townsend, Randall Coker and Hannah Coker all of Decherd, several Great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Coker will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday Evening, Sept. 18, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, Sept. 19, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Jim Thomas, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd.

Mrs. Forrestine Rowe, age 67 passed away Friday, September 12th.

Mrs. Rowe is survived by one son Aaron E. Rowe; four sisters Nellie (Bobby) Battles, Myrtle Mae Dillard, Elizabeth Diane Peppers and Sara Alice Dillard; four brothers Tom (Jeannette) Dillard, Melvin (Phyllis) Dillard, Dennis (Phyllis A.) Dillard and Harry Eugene Dillard.

Services for Mrs. Rowe will be Saturday, September 20th at the Lane Street Church of Christ (310 Lane Street, Manchester).

She will Lie- in- State from 10:00 am till 11:00 am.

Family Visitation will be at 11:00 am with Funeral to follow at 12:00 noon.

Mr. Anderson was born in Winchester, TN to the late Guy and Tucker Anderson Sr.

He passed this life Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Anderson, sons, Kelly, Wade, Marty and Jeff Anderson, sisters, Joyce Shelton, Sherry Holt and Glenda Johnson and a brother, Stan Anderson.

9/17/14 —– Janice Anne Sharleville Davis

Janice Anne Sharleville Davis, age 77, of Tullahoma, Tenn., departed this life on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma following an extended illness.

She was born on July 19, 1937, in Worchester, Mass. to the late Walter and Hilda Blair Sharleville.

Mrs. Davis was of the Catholic faith.  She was employed for many years in management at the Cat’s Meow in Virginia Beach, Virginia before her retirement.  She loved working crossword puzzles, cooking and gardening. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Davis of Tullahoma, Son, Stephen Sullivan, Granddaughter, Jamie Lee Sullivan both of Auburn, Mass., Sister, Gay (Sam) Latimar of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Brother, Ronald (Carolyn) Sharleville of Holden, Mass. and Sister-in-law, Carol Sharleville of Tullahoma, Tenn.

Arnold Hurst, age 59 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on September 12, 2014 at the Horizon Health & Rehabilitation Center in Manchester.

He was an Electrician in the Construction Business.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Paul Ray Hurst and Novella Grace Collette Hurst.

He is survived by his loving wife, Frankie L. Hurst of Manchester, TN; daughter, Paulette Davis and her husband Alan of Hillsboro, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, September 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m.  –  7:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home.
