12/14/14 —– Michael Anthony Whittaker

Michael Anthony Whittaker, age 62 of Nashville, Tennessee formerly of Tullahoma, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014.

Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, with funeral service following at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Burial will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester, Tennessee.

Michael is survived by his wife, Ping Shen Whittaker, his mother Louise Wilder of Winchester, Tennessee, brothers; William E. McMahon, III of Rivermore, California, John Denis McMahon, of Santa Ana, California, and his half-sister, Rose Lawson of North Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray Whittaker of Jacksonville, Florida.

Michael was a graduate of Tullahoma High School (1970), Motlow State Community College (1972), and Middle Tennessee State University (1983). He served in the United States Navy, and was employed as a dedicated senior software developer for the Tennessee state government.

Michael was characterized as a generous, compassionate, hardworking man. He was also an avid reader with a keen academic curiosity.

12/14/14 —- Beverly Jean Reynolds

Funeral services for Mrs. Beverly Jean Reynolds, age 59, of Manchester, will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kevin Rhoton officiating.

Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Reynolds passed away on Wednesday, December 10 at Medical Center of Manchester.

Mrs. Reynolds was born in Fort Wayne, IN, the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret Ashley Whitman.

She was a seamstress at Viam.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reynolds was also preceded by her husband, William Reynolds.

She is survived by three children, Shawn Graves of Shelbyville, Tawnya Young and Yolanda Wise, both of Manchester; siblings, Charles Whitman of KY, Danny Whitman and Linda Leamon, both of SC, Mike Whitman and Phillip Whitman, both of IN, and Sharon Whitman of SC; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

12/14/14 —– Joseph Everett Benson

Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Everett Benson, age 76, of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2104 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Benny Benjamin officiating.

Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 noon until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Benson passed away Thursday, December 11 at the VA Healthcare System in Murfreesboro, TN.

Mr. Benson was born in Antioch, TN, the son of the late Everett Madison and Mary Louise Nipper Benson.

He served his country in the United States Air Force, as an air traffic controller. His hobbies include building and working on computers and cameras, which he did for Kingwood Arms residents, crafting wood, photography, reading, and playing pinochle.

In addition to his parents, J.E. was also preceded in death by one brother, Morris Benson.

He is survived by his six children, Jeff (Dawn) Benson, of Ackworth, GA, Melissa (Jeff) Flanary of Murfreesboro, Troy Benson of Summitiville, Carol (Wayne) Wilburn of Manchester, Teresa (Michael) Friedrich of Riverview, FL, and Kim (Bill) Bumiller of California; six grandchildren, J.J., Lauren, Ambrea, Chasity, Blair, and Jason; and one great grandchild, Audie.

12/12/14 —- John Creighton “Johnny” Stewart

John Creighton “Johnny” Stewart, of Winchester, passed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, December 7th, 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System in Mattoon, Illinois at the age of 64.

Mr. Stewart was born in Tullahoma to the late Creighton and Gladys Martin Stewart.

During his life, he served his country in the United States Army. He later went on to graduate with his bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and worked as an Analyst with the Tullahoma Utility Board.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Smith Stewart; and one sister, June Hand.

He is survived by three sons, Shawn Stewart and his wife Andrea of Winchester, Stacy Stewart of Lynchburg, and Shelby Stewart of Alabama; two sisters, Charlotte Cooper and her husband John of Nashville, and Barbara Walker of Nashville; and three grandchildren, Macy, Reece, and Kole.

Visitation for Mr. Stewart will be held on Thursday, December 11th, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 12th, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Hice officiating.

Burial will follow at Marble Plains Cemetery in Franklin County.

12/13/14 —— Celina Dees Stidham

Celina Dees Stidham, age 52 of Mayflower, Arkansas passed away, Tuesday, November 25, 2014.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be Saturday, December 13, from 4 PM – 6 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

A native of Tullahoma, she is survived by one daughter, Brandi King and her husband, Robert of Manchester; mother, Shirley Floyd of Manchester; three sisters, Connye Holliday and her husband, Terry of Manchester, Sheila Sweeton and Tabatha Floyd, both of Tullahoma; grandson, Anthony King of Manchester and many nieces and nephews.

She preceded in death by one brother, Brian Floyd.

12/11/14 ——- Forest E. “Ed” Haley

Funeral services for Mr. Forest E. “Ed” Haley, age 81, of Elkhart, IN, formerly of Manchester, will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Haley passed away Sunday afternoon at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN.

Ed was born May 18, 1933 in Manchester, TN to Benjamin F. and Lula Jane (Jarrell) Haley.

He married Marilyn Slough on June 27, 1952 in Elkhart. She died February 20, 2005.

Surviving are son, William (Marsha) Haley of Elkhart; daughter, Jane Harrington of Polk City, FL; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson.

Ed retired from sales at Shaum Electric. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed spending time with his family, photography, and pictures.

vetFuneral services for Mr. James Edward Cardwell, age 79, of Tullahoma, TN, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Owen officiating.

Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, TN.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, at the funeral home.

Mr. Cardwell passed away at his residence on Sunday, December 7, 2014.

James was born in Lick Skillet, AL, the son of the late John C. and Nancy Ellen Bowen Cardwell.

He served his country in the United States Air Force and before retirement, was employed by Batesville Casket Company in the rubber plant. He was an ordained minister and a chaplain for Transport for Christ.

In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary L. Brawley Cardwell, who passed in 1958, and his second wife, Kathy Cardwell, who passed away in 1997; one daughter, Sherry Cardwell; two sisters, Ethel Woods Lowe and Sue Dudley; and one son-in-law, Ronald Vance. He is survived by five children, Susan Vance of Tullahoma, Jimmy (Jane) Cardwell of Manchester, Kimmy (Tony) Terry of Lebanon, Johnny (Jeannie) Cardwell of Tullahoma, and Connie (Kenneth) Hardaway of Cottontown; ten grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

12/11/14 — Willie Ray Bradford

Willie Ray Bradford, age 47 of the Pleasant Grove Community of Estill Springs passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Medical Center of Manchester.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 11 at 1 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Hawkins officiating.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, December 10 from 5 PM – 8 PM.

A native of Manchester, he was the son of Willie Bradford of Estill Springs and the late Margaret Rice Bradford.

He was a truck driver who enjoyed playing the guitar, working on automobiles and watching NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed playing with his beloved Chihuahua, “Harley”.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Betty Bradford of Estill Springs; one son, Justin Bradford of Tullahoma; two daughters, Brittany and Courtney Bradford, both of Winchester; one sister, Becky Dye and her boyfriend, Daryle Frye of Tullahoma; one grandchild, Raelann Bradford; special nephew, Duane McCreary of Estill Springs and two nieces, Tanya Porter and her husband, Wesley of Manchester and Kandie Brannon and her husband, Joshua of Belvidere.

12/8/14 —– Robert Daniel “R.D” Turner

Robert Daniel “R.D” Turner of Tullahoma, passed this life on Thursday, December 4th, 2014 at Lynchburg Nursing Center at the age of 82.

Mr. Turner was born in Franklin County to the late Lewis E.B. Turner and Edith Bradford Turner.

During his life he served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Turner was a Television Repairman with Turner and Son and was a former member of the Tullahoma Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Turner; three brothers, Eugene, James, and Ira Turner; three sisters, Judy Tipton, Elizabeth Turner, and Carrah Bell Arnold; and one grandson, Charles Roy Foreman Jr.

Mr. Turner is survived by two daughters, Judy Craven and her husband David of Saucier, Mississippi, and Mary Lynn Lyda and her husband Joe of Tullahoma; two sons, Roger Turner of Tullahoma, and Craig Turner and his wife Tammy of Friendsville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, Billy, Kenneth, Jonathan, Joseph, Aaron, Madison, Kaley, Michael, Brian, Tina, and Jason; six great-grandchildren, Brendon, Ava, Peyton, Lilly Ann, Brian Jr., and Elly; two brothers, Malcolm Turner and his wife Mary of Tullahoma, and Richard Turner and his wife Alice of Belvidere, Tennessee; and one sister, Naomi March and her husband Paul of Charleston, South Carolina.

Visitation for Mr. Turner will be held on Sunday, December 7th, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 8th, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Lyda officiating.

Jerry Lee Rogers, age 73 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on December 2, 2014 at the Manchester Health Care Center.

Jerry was born in Manchester, Tennessee to his parents, the late William B. Rogers and Mary Ida Poff Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda K. Shelton Rogers of Manchester; son, Kenneth Rogers of Manchester; brother, A.C. Rogers of Tullahoma, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.
