3/11/17 — Cecil “Blue” G. Blackman
Cecil “Blue” G Blackman of Cowan, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017
at
Tennova Healthcare – Harton at the age of 72. Memorial Services are
scheduled for 2 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral
Home with visitation from 12 PM until the service time.
A native of Oregon, he was the son of the late George and Opal Taylor
Blackman. He was a truck driver and was very proud of owning and operating
his own rig. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and watching car racing. His
favorite activities were spending time with his family and playing with his
dog, Romeo.
Mr. Blackman is survived by his wife, Evelyn Blackman of Cowan; sons,
Christopher George Blackman of KY, Jason and John Blackman, both of
Davidson County; step-sons, Terry Wayne Westmoreland and his wife, Marie of
Nashville and Raymond Allen Westmoreland and his wife, Jennifer of
Springfield; step-daughters, Robin and Linda Sue Zajac and her husband, Joe
of Goodlettsville; brother Timothy George Blackman and his wife, Andrea of
IL; sister, Teri Gimpert and her husband, Denny of Miami and eleven
grandchildren.

3/4/17 — Debra Jeanette Holder
Debra Jeanette Holder of Manchester, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the age of 51 years. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10 AM at Farrar Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5 – 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.
A native of Blue Island, IL, she was the daughter of the late Bobby Holder and Barbara Whipple Holder of Tullahoma. She loved music and enjoyed singing. She also enjoyed swimming, playing basketball and tennis and reading.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Dustin Logan Holder Blackman and her grandmother, Lillie Bell Smith.
Debra is survived by her mother, Barbara Holder of Tullahoma; grandmother, Ida Meadows of Tullahoma; boyfriend, James Phelps of Nashville; two brothers, Joseph Holder of Beech Grove and David Holder of Lakeland, FL; nephews, Jay Holder of Beech Grove, Davey, Mitchell, and Shane Holder of Lakeland, FL; nieces, Jennifer Frye of Wartrace and Bobbie Lee Holder of Beech Grove; uncle, Wayne Ward of Tullahoma and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

3/2/17–Wanda M. Brown
Wanda M Brown of Athens, AL, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at
the Limestone Health Facility in Athens at the age of 93 years. No services
are scheduled.
A native of Tullahoma, she was the daughter of the late Acie Edward and
Nancy Hammers Moore. She grew up and raised her family in Tullahoma and was
a member of Highland Rim Baptist Church. After her husband, Charles Herman
Brown away in 1991, she relocated to the Atlanta area and then Alabama to
be close to family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, quilting and gardening.
One
of her favorite hobbies was woodworking and making furniture.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Charles Herman Brown; one son, Phillip Herman Brown; brothers, Thurman
Hanes and Douglas Moore and sister, Willie Belle Colyar.
She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Brown Alsip of Murfreesboro; one
granddaughter, Cathy Michelle Romano and her husband, Michael of Madison,
AL and one nephew, Terry Colyar of Tullahoma.

3/2/17 — Barbara W. Myers
Barbara W Myers of Tullahoma, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at
St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro at the age of 85 years.
Funeral
services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 2, 2017 at St. Paul
the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Stephen Klasek officiating. Burial
will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will
be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home
and Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 10-11 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic
Church.
A native of Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Alice
Leona Forcythe Wilson. Mrs. Myers was certified professional secretary and
retired from AEDC. She was a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle
Catholic Church where she was very active with the Ladies Council and the
Women’s Prayer Group. Her favorite activities involved spending time with
her family. She enjoyed family vacations which included camping, boating
and going to the beach. She also enjoyed playing bridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers,
George “Sonny” Wilson, John “Pete” Wilson, Fredrick “Fritz” Wilson, Frank
“Husk” Wilson and Donald Wilson; two sisters, Jeanie Wilson and Marie
Wolfrom and one grandchild, Joshua Sherrill.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Myers of
Tullahoma; four sons, Ted Myers and his wife, Patti of Estill Springs, Jim
Myers and his wife, Pam of Tullahoma, John Myers and his wife, LaRue of
Murfreesboro and Paul Myers and his wife, Amy of Murfreesboro; three
daughters, Terri Daugherty and her husband, Tom of Tullahoma, Patty Green
and her husband, Marvin of Bailey, NC and Brenda Goethals and her husband,
John of Tullahoma; brother, Robert Wilson and his wife, Carolyn of
Woodstock, GA; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one on
the way and many nieces and nephews.

3/3/17 — Janice Dean Wingo
Janice Dean Wingo of Tullahoma passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at
Tennova Healthcare – Harton at the age of 73. Funeral Services are
scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1 PM at the Daves-Culbertson
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marty Nutter officiating. Burial will follow
at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Friday,
March 3, 2017 from 6 – 9 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.
A native of Carrollton, GA, she was the daughter of the late William A and
Dorothy Robison Dean. Janice loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and
singing. When she was growing up, she and her sisters, Marilyn and Carolyn
formed a trio, the Dean Sisters, and traveled thru out Georgia performing.
Janice was a registered nurse and had worked at Queen City Hospital and
Harton Hospital in Tullahoma; Southern TN Medical Center in Winchester;
Coffee County Medical Center in Manchester; the Lynchburg Nursing Home and
the Bedford County Nursing Home in Shelbyville. She was a “Working Mom”
and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a
devout Christian and enjoyed reading spiritual material. She also enjoyed
coloring in adult coloring books.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Darrell “DZ” Wingo, who passed away in 1995 and two brothers, Billy and
Kenneth Dean.
Janice is survived by one son, Jason Zachariah Wingo and his wife, Stacie
of Ooltewah, TN; one daughter, Shannon Wingo Thomas and her husband, Shawn
of Manchester; two sisters, Marilyn Overholt of Douglasville, GA and
Carolyn Phillips of Carrollton, GA and five grandchildren, Blake, Sarah,
Rebecca, Grant and Lanie.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her honor
to the Hospice of the Highland Rim, 110 E Lauderdale St, Tullahoma, TN
37388.

3/4/17–William C. “Bill” Boyd
William C. “Bill” Boyd, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare-Harton at the age of 88. Mr. Boyd was born in Cobb County, Georgia, the son of the late William H. and Bertha King Boyd. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged with the enlisted rank of Quartermaster Mate 3rd Class. After his active duty, he also served in the Navy reserves and the National Guard. During his life, Mr. Boyd worked at AEDC as an Instrument Technician/Supervisor and retired as an Engineering Associate with Sverdrup. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Manchester and was very active in sports both locally and state-wide. In Manchester, Mr. Boyd was involved with almost all youth sports such as baseball, softball, basketball, and football where he was well known as an official and coach. He was the head coach for the Golden Hawks, the first Pop Warner football team in Manchester. Mr. Boyd also was a TSSAA official and officiated most college sports, including baseball, softball, basketball, and football. Bill officiated some of the early Lady Vol basketball games when Pat Summit was beginning her coaching career. He also volunteered as the golf coach in Grundy County and was known to help with scoring and data gathering for PGA events in the Atlanta area. At the age of 81, Mr. Boyd graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. He also loved playing pool with his friends at the area Senior Citizen’s Center. He was married for 66 years to Mrs. Effie Watkins Boyd who survives. Mr. Boyd is also survived by three children, Sheila Brown and her husband Eugene of Estill Springs, David Boyd and his wife Suzi of Manchester, and Danny Boyd and his wife Debra of Tullahoma; three grandchildren, LeAnne Henry and her husband Boz, Will Boyd, and Amanda Bone and her husband Jason; and three great-grandchildren, Josey, Emmaline, and Cora. Visitation for Mr. Boyd will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2017 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00pm with a memorial service to immediately follow at 6:00pm with Randy Brown officiating. 2/27/17 — Clyde “Ronnie” Vanzant
Clyde “Ronnie” Vanzant, age 70 of Manchester, Tennessee passed away into Eternal Rest on February 24, 2017 at the Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Mr. Vanzant was a retired (35 year) Tow Motor Operator from Carrier Air Conditioning in Morrison. Ronnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Manchester, where he helped with the Children’s Church. He also worked with a Chaplain visiting Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Centers for several years in our community.
Ronnie had a black belt in karate, umpired, coached baseball, and was involved in all sports! He will be fondly remembered as one who loved his family and friends, and somehow still found time to go to the Recreation Center to work out. He enjoyed all his friends he swam, worked out, walked, and jogged with. He loved to watch his grandsons play all sports and all his friend’s children play their sports…he just loved watching everyone being involved in athletics and enjoying life.
Mr. Vanzant was preceded in death by his parents, the late Martin L. Vanzant and Mary M. Maurer Vanzant and a brother Glen Vanzant.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jana L. Vanzant of Manchester, Tennessee; a daughter, Donna L. West and her husband Tim of Tullahoma, Tennessee; a brother, Frank H. Vanzant and his wife Sue of Estill Springs, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Caleb and Cameron West, both of Tullahoma, Tennessee.

3/3/17 — Robert Cecil Miles
Mr. Robert “Bobby” Cecil Miles passed away on Feb. 25, 2017 at St. Thomas – Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was 61.
Mr. Miles was born on Feb. 9, 1956 in Shelbyville, Tennessee to Margaret Rose James Miles and the late Rev. Floyd L. “Bud” Miles.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. As a member of the Triple R Motorcycle Club, he was known by his fellow bikers as “Gypsy,” where along with club members enjoyed charitable fund raising events. Along with being a racing fan, he enjoyed the outdoors, camping and canoeing.
He made his career in construction and mechanic work.
Along with his mother he is survived by daughters Laura (Nathanael) Anderson of Kelso, Tennessee; Mitzy (Kevin) Dillion of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Jennifer (Kyle) Hartline of Hixson, Tennessee; Shonna (Tyler Bolin) Miles of Winchester, Tennessee; and Ashley Miles of Belvidere, Tennessee. A daughter, Amber Hill preceded him in death.
Surviving grandchildren are Cobe, Kathryn, Emmie, Levi, Hillary, Olivia, Katy, Connor, Harrison, Zoe, Cameron, and Alyssa.
One brother, Sonny (Elaine) Miles of Columbia, Tennessee also survives.
Visitation with family members will be on March 2, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home. A funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 from the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tullahoma.

2/26/17 — Kenneth Gene Daniel
Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Gene Daniel, age 77, of Conover, NC will
be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Coffee County
Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 noon until time of service
at the funeral home. Mr. Daniel passed away on Thursday, February 23,
2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC.
Kenneth was born in Lynchburg, TN, the son of the late Haywood and Mary
Anna Ross Daniel. A native of Franklin County, TN, he had resided in
middle TN for many years, and finally settling in Conover, NC for the
past 20 years. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served from 1966-1972 in
the United States Army and received many medals, including the Bronze
Star Medal with Valor Device. He was a construction contractor and
enjoyed gardening, fishing, and cooking.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was also preceded in death by one
daughter, Rhonda Woods. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Brown
Daniel; four daughters, Kelly (Brad) Sanders, Kelsey (Julian) Metter,
Ketah (Andrew) White, Karen (Jeff) Evers; one son, Kenneth (Phyllis)
Daniel, Jr. one sister, Ada Mae Brown; and 14 grandchildren.

Carmen Louise Souder Miles
Surrounded by family members, Carmen Louise Souder Miles, 65, passed away on Feb. 23, 2017 at her residence in Frankewing, Tennessee.
She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Nov. 9, 1951 to the late John B. and Mary McKinney Souder. She loved her children and grandchildren along with her pets. She was a hardworking woman that loved to read.
Survivors include her daughters Vanessa (William Coolahan) Earls of Laceys Spring, Alabama; Angela (Michael Owens) Whitaker of Frankewing, Tennessee. Surviving sons include Roy (Melissa) Miles, Jr of Shelbyville, Tennessee; Troy (Christy) Miles of Lewisburg, Tennessee; and Russell David Nickell of Moorehead, Kentucky. Surviving siblings include her brother John Souder of Madison, Alabama and Deborah Fraley, a resident of Arizona. T.J, Caleb, Carmen Serina, Tristan, Kayla and Carson are surviving grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
