11/2/17 — Iris Eastman Akers

Iris Eastman Akers, 89, of Tullahoma, Tennessee, formerly form Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Life Care Center of Tullahoma, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alphon Akers and her parents Augustus and Violet Ruth Eastman along with three brothers Homer, Nile and Kenneth Eastman.
Iris is survived by one sister, Lois Eastman Sneed and her husband Jim of Tullahoma, Tennessee, in whose home she resided for the past nine years, blessing them with her gentle nature.
Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Ina Eastman of Ansted, West Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
Iris was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Homeland Baptist Church of Tullahoma with her sister and brother-in-law.
Visitation with family members will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, West Virginia from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

11/2/17 — Jessica M. West

Jessica M West of Winchester passed this life on Thursday, October 26, 2017
at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro at the age of 40 years. Memorial services
are scheduled for Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson
Funeral Home with visitation from 1 – 2 PM.

Mrs. West was the daughter of Roy D Brown of Decherd and Mary Castleberry
Brown of Houston, TX. She enjoyed crocheting and studying her Bible.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. West is survived by her husband, Johnny
West of Winchester; son, Keith West of Republic, Washington; daughters,
Jessica West of Chattanooga, Monique Napihaa and her husband, Michael of
Amarillo, TX; Ciscia West of Cowan and Natasha Ford and her husband, Steve
of Decherd; brothers Roy Dan Brown and Kelly Dwayne Brown, both of Decherd;
five grandchildren and two more grandchildren on the way.

10/29/17 — William Ashley Bush

Funeral services for Mr. William Ashley Bush, age 35 of Bradyville, will be conducted on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Manchester Funeral Home with Brother Benny Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow in Fredonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Manchester Funeral Home.

Ashley was born on April 4, 1982 in Murfreesboro, TN. He loved hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers, mudding and big trucks. The thing he enjoyed the most in life was spending time with his children and hunting with his Dad.

Survived by his father, Mickey Bush (Lori); mother, Teresa Franklin (Mike); grandfather, William Randall Bush (Glenda); son, Zackery David Bush; daughter, Ashlynn Elizabeth Bush; mother of his children, Kim Bush; half-brothers, Michael Franklin, Matthew Franklin; step-brother, Hunter Morrow-Elder; half-sister, Toni Parker.

10/28/17 — Bobby Young

Bobby Young of Tullahoma passed this life on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at
St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro at the age of 78 years.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2 PM at
Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 27, 2017 from 5 PM – 8
PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Mr. Young was the son of the late Marty and Goldie Lockhart Young. He was
born on April 25, 1939 in Tracy City, TN. He was a U S Army veteran. His
favorite hobbies included riding motorcycles and fishing.

Mr. Young is survived by four sons, Bobby Young of Boaz, AL, Joe Young and
his wife, Lori of Buhler, KS, Tim Young of Arab, AL and Tom Young and his
wife, Sue of Arab, AL; daughter, Kelly Young of Arab, AL; brother Danny
Young and his wife, Ruby of Tullahoma; sister, Patsy Adjmi of Atlanta, GA;
eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

10/27/17 — Michael Chadrick Smith

Graveside services for Mr. Michael “Mike” Chadrick Smith, age 42, of
Manchester, TN, will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 27, 2017
at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN, with burial following.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on
Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Mr. Smith
passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in Jackson County, AL.

Mike was born in McMinnville, TN, the son of John Michael Smith and Lynne
Denise (Ray) McKelvey. Mike served his country in the United States Army
and was a truck driver in the construction industry. Mike enjoyed
fishing, riding motorcycles, being out in the woods, hunting, and
grilling.

Mike was preceded in death by his maternal grandparent, Quill Briggs; and
paternal grandparents, John “Buzz” and Dot Smith. In addition to his
parents, Mike is also survived by two sons, Michael and Tyler Smith; two
brothers, Chris Smith and Brien (Nikki) McKelvey; two sisters, Annie
(Alan) Vickers and Amy (Josh) Barnard; maternal grandparent, Dot Briggs;
niece, Emma Singleton; nephew, Ethan Singleton; and several other aunts,
uncles, and loved ones.

10/27/17 — Allen Pollard Crick

Funeral services for Mr. Allen Pollard Crick, age 91, of Manchester, TN,
will be conducted at 11:30 AM on Friday, October 27, 2017 at First United
Methodist Church in Manchester, TN. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM on
Friday, October 27, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro, TN.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM until time of service at
the church. Mr. Crick passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October
24, 2017.

Allen was born in Nashville, TN, the son of the late Horace and Lillie
Frances Davis Crick. He served his country in the United States Navy
during World War II and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the
University of Tennessee in 1949. Allen was a mechanical engineer at AEDC
and a member of First United Methodist Church in Manchester, TN. He was
the last remaining graduate of his class at Eagleville High School, was a
founding member of the Manchester Lions Club, and was a Mason. Allen
enjoyed woodworking, TN sports, and loved and was very proud of his
family.

In addition to his parents, Allen was also preceded in death by his wife,
Pauline Crick; one daughter, Lee Ann Dean; two brothers, Horace and
Thomas Crick; and one sister, Zelma Smotherman. He is survived by one
son, Michael (Wendy) Crick; one daughter, Paula Jo (Bill) Harris; two
brothers, Herbert and Robert Crick; one sister, Frances Victory-Oldham; 8
grandchildren, Heather (Richie) Billings, Heidi (Jeff) Stone, Haven
(Charley) Paul, Holly (Levi) Bouton, Bailey (Taylor) Bowman, Janie Crick,
Christen Dean, and Nicole Pryor; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Manchester Lions
Club or First United Methodist Church.

10/28/17–Charles V. “Chuck” Ledford, Jr.


Charles V. “Chuck” Ledford, Jr. of Tullahoma passed this life peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the age of 52. Mr. Ledford was born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey to the late Charles V. Ledford, Sr., and the surviving Mary Carhart Ledford. During his life, Chuck proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during The Gulf War. Later in life, Charles worked as an electrician and as a mason for Brindley and Son’s Construction Co. and Brown Construction. Many Tullahoma residents may have seen him, he is the man behind the Downtown Revitalization project, and could be found laying brick and pouring concrete there. A long-time member of the NRA, he was an avid gun, knife and fishing lure collector. During his life, he became a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed fishing with his son, playing dolls with his granddaughter, boating with his best friend, and being the greatest man his wife and daughter ever knew.  He was an honest man, a hard worker, jack-of-all trades, a mountain man with a heart of gold. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lori Ledford, his son Logan Ledford, his daughter Auburn Ledford and her fiancé Tyler Marshall, his granddaughter Braelyn Paisley Marshall, his puppy, Yuli Bug, and dear friends David, Angie, and Kirsty Brown. He is also survived by two brothers, Danny and Kevin Ledford, a sister Jessica Cardwell, and many nieces and nephews.  A celebration of Charles’ life will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home. A graveside service officiated by Leo Bechard with military honors will take place Saturday, October 28th at 11:00am at Hurricane Cemetery in Moore County followed by a balloon release. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, there has been an account set in the name of Charles Ledford and Braelyn Marshall at Trader’s National Bank where donations can be made. 10/26/17 — Elvis Gene Mathis

Funeral services for Mr. Elvis Gene Mathis, age 78, have been postponed and will be conducted at a later date. Mr. Mathis passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at his home in Manchester, TN.

Elvis was born in Woodbury, TN. He was a truck driver, and loved to work in his shop. Mr. Mathis loved watching old westerns, horses, racing cars, and his dog. Elvis was a very loving father, grandfather, and brother.

Elvis is survived by his son, Anthony (Charmayne) Mathis; two brothers, Jimmy Mathis and Delward “Paul” Mathis; one sister, Rachel Reed; and one granddaughter, Destani Thompson.

11/4/17 — Dotty Jo Duggin

A celebration of life for Dotty Jo Duggin, age 62 of Woodbury, will be conducted on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Woodbury. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Dotty passed away on October 19, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Ms. Duggin was born on May 7, 1955, in Cannon County, TN to the late Oran and Lena Duggin. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodbury. She was currently Vice Mayor and an Alderman for the City of Woodbury, and loved her community. Dotty worked for Floyd and David Wilsons State Farm Agency as an insurance agent for over 40 years. She was always taking care of everyone, and life revolved around her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Oran Duggin. Survived by her husband, Allen Ray Portwood; daughters, Chrissy Vaughn, Cecilia Bowman, Cassie Bowman; step-son, Jeff Portwood; brothers, Harold Duggin, Virgil Duggin, Mitchell Duggin; sister, Genda Perry; grandchildren, Victoria, Davin, Ally, Kelsey, Andre, Jaycob; step-grandchildren, Katrina, Julianne, Joshua, Lucy.

10/25/17 — Gerald Hice, Sr.

GERALD HICE, SR., age 75, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at STRHS in Winchester. Mr. Hice was born on August 4, 1942, in Winchester, Tenn., to the late Robert Hice, Jr. and Lorene Holt Hice. Mr. Hice was employed for over 30 years at the former Eaton Corporation in Shelbyville, Tenn. as a machinist where he retired from. His hobbies were Fishing and Nascar. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, brother and grandfather.

He is survived by his sons; Rev. Gerald Hice and wife, Benita of Tullahoma, Greg Hice of Tampa, Florida, Sister, Joyce Edwards and husband Mike of Winchester. 3-grandchildren – Aaron Hice and wife, Ashley of Tullahoma, Josh Hice and Seth Hice both of Winchester, 1-Great-grandson – Nolan Hice of Tullahoma and a Special Friend – Regina Haney of Winchester.

Visitation for Mr. Hice will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday evening, Oct. 24, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Interment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester with family serving as pallbearers.
