1/26/18–Ronald Keith Keen, Sr
Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Keith Keen, Sr. age 78, of Manchester, TN will be conducted on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 6:00 PM with Bro. Benny Benjamin officiating at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until the time of service. Mr. Keen passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, at St. Thomas – Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN.
Ronald was born in Stacy, VA, the son of the late William and Nicati Keen. He was raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Iola and George Keen, and their children, George Keen, Jr., and the late Michael Keen. Ronald was a retired veteran from the United States Air Force. He fought in the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, Ronald is also preceded in death by two brothers, James and William Keen; one sister, Aleine Hurley. He is survived by three sons, David Keen Skuse, Ronald Keen, II, and David Cooper; two brothers, Bertie and Bobby Keen; one sister, Earnestine Honaker.

1/23/18 — Janice Robertson Medley
Janice Robertson Medley of Tullahoma passed this life on Saturday,
January 20, 2018 at Tennova-Harton Healthcare at the age of 81,
surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Medley was born in Pocahontas, TN
to the late Andrew Holland and Zena Mae Barnes Gold. During her life,
Mrs. Medley worked in general labor at Tennessee Apparel and Genesco, and
loved working in her flower garden, and caring for her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Medley in preceded
in death by her first husband, Lester Robertson; three brothers, Edward,
Andy, and Elvis Gold; and three sisters, Artrice Saine, Beulah Perry, and
Marlene Bice. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Damron and her
husband Jent of Tullahoma, Gail Preston and her husband Gary of
Lynchburg, and Penny Anderson and her husband Chris of Manchester; one
brother, Virgil Gold and his wife Phyllis of Tullahoma; one sister,
Winona Randolph of Manchester; six grandchildren, Chris Damron and his
wife Jackie, Sarah Damron, Bret Preston and his wife Stacy, Rhiannon
Preston, Lauren Trail and her husband Ben, and Tyler Anderson; four
great-grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob Preston, and Peyton and Hannah
Trail; and special friends whom she loved like family, Jessie and
Jonathan Johnson, and John, Tiffany, and Taylor LaCook. Visitation for
Mrs. Medley will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00pm
at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday,
January 23rd, at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Brian
Nave officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

1/24/18 — Onis A. Shelton
Onis A Shelton, of Lynchburg, passed this life on Saturday, January 20,
2018 at Tennova Healthcare Harton at the age of 70 years. Funeral Services
are scheduled for Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11 AM at Lynchburg Funeral
Home with burial to follow at Lois Cemetery. Bro. Forrest Bryan will
officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, from 5 – 8 PM at
Lynchburg Funeral Home.
A native of Taft, TN, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Lucille
Walden Shelton. He was a U S Army Veteran and a member of the Lois Church
of Christ. Mr. Shelton retired from the Redstone Arsenal. He enjoyed
rabbit hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joe and
James Shelton and sisters, Mary Lois Shelton and Faye Mason.
Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife, Dara Shelton of Lynchburg; son, James
Shelton and his fiancé Angie Hitchcock of Mulberry; daughter, Angie Harris
and her husband, Larry of McBurg,TN; brothers, Charlie Shelton and his
wife, Judy of Columbia, Johnny Shelton of Summertown, Paul Shelton and his
wife, Janice of Elora, Kenneth Shelton and his wife, Loretta of Elora, Pete
Shelton and his wife, Kathy of Fayetteville and Timothy Shelton and his
wife, Michelle of Ripley, MS; special aunt, Julia Robinson of Lynchburg and
seven grandchildren.

1/21/18 — Thelma Dean Grosch
Mrs. Thelma Dean Grosch, 78, passed away Friday January 19,
2018 at her home. She was born in Manchester on December 18, 1939. She was
preceded in death by her father, William Pless Clayborn; mother Mary Etta
Hobbs Henderson; sisters, Bobbie Meadows and Lucille Boyd; brother, Rusty
Clayborn; grandson, Daniel Clay Gilliam.
She was a custodian at West Wood Elementary School until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, William T. “Buddy” Grosch; daughters,
Delores Ann (James) Goin, Manchester, Donna K. (Randy) Grosch, Decatur, TN,
Debbie Sue (Scotty) Hamby, Hillsboro and Delana Lynn (Maxie) Butler of
Hillsboro; grandchildren, Carlton and Brianna Hamby.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday January 21, 2018 at
the Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Viola with Minister Joel Reynolds

1/27/18 — Betty Delle Hix Merritt
Betty Delle Hix Merritt, passed this life on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at
Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville at the age 79 years. Funeral Services are
scheduled for Saturday, January 27 at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home
with burial to follow at Concord Cemetery. The family will begin receiving
visitors at 12 PM.
Mrs. Merritt was the daughter of the late Runa D and Mattie Ree Hix. She
was born on July 29, 1938 in Shelbyville, TN. She attended David Lipscomb
University and was a member of Wilson Avenue Church of Christ. Mrs.
Merritt loved music and playing the piano. She also enjoyed volunteering
at the Walking Horse Show as a hostess. In later years, Mrs. Merritt
enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends with phone conversations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd
E Merritt.
Mrs. Merritt is survived by son, Roger Alan Merritt and his wife, Linda of
Tullahoma; daughter, Melanie Neal and her husband, Michael Shane of
Nashville; brothers, Henry Holt Hix of Shelbyville and Dan Hix and his
wife, Brenda of Tullahoma and three grandchildren, Reanna Louise Merritt,
Mattie Ree Neal and Lily Kate Neal.

1/20/18 — John Robert Tracy
John Robert Tracy, 89, of Murfreesboro, passed away early Wednesday
morning, January 17, 2018 from heart complications caused by Alzheimer’s.
Born
December 28, 1928, to Llyal and Lucille Tracy in Port Angeles, WA, he grew
up in Aberdeen, WA and graduated for Weatherwax High School in 1946. John
played center for the University of Washington Huskies football team. He
graduated from the University of Washington in 1951 with dual degrees in
chemical and industrial engineering. Upon graduation, he was invited to
play for the Baltimore Colts, but chose to join the U S Army. After his
time in the military, he embarked on his career in the pulp and paper
industry. John first worked for the Rayonier Paper Company and then joined
Weyerhaeuser where he helped to open a plant in New Bern, NC. He retired
from Weyerhaeuser in 1995.
John truly loved to serve and was active in many civic organizations,
including the Exchange Club, Rotary, the Elks and Civitan. He was the
North Carolina Junior Civitan State Director for many years and also served
as President of New Bern High School Band Booster. Upon retirement, John
lived in Wilson, NC and then Tullahoma. A natural athlete, John played
basketball and football until he was fifty years old, but developed a true
love of golf during retirement. A lifelong Christian who loved and served
the Lord, John had a gentle sweet spirit and will be missed by all who knew
and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ray
Tracy. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Freeman Tracy of Murfreesboro;
two sons, Robert Llyal Tracy and his wife, Alice of Boise, ID and John
Barry Tracy and his wife, Meredith of Islamorada, FL; step sons, Charles
Fredere of Orange Beach, FL, David Fredere of Flint, MI and Kim Fredere of
Morehead City, NC; step daughter, Ann McClaugherty and her husband, Robert
of Murfreesboro; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2 PM at
Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial
Gardens. The family will begin receiving friends at 1 PM.

Claudia Ann Owens of Shelbyville, passed this life on Thursday, January 18,
2018 at Tennova Healthcare – Shelbyville at the age 75 years. Funeral
Services are scheduled for Monday, January 22 at 1 PM at Daves-Culbertson
Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lynchburg Cemetery. The family will
begin receiving visitors at 11 AM.
Mrs. Owens was the daughter of the late Claude Owen and Adele Sanders
McLaughlin. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of
Tullahoma. She loved working jigsaw puzzles and playing gin rummy. She
also enjoyed crocheting, reading and clipping coupons. She was an animal
lover and especially loved her dog, Baby Doll.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Betty
Jean Ervin and Patsy Jo Cyree.
She is survived by her husband, John Owens of Shelbyville; sons, Charles
Castile and his wife, Wendy of Normandy and Robby Castile of Hartsville,
TN; step-daughters, Cindy McGee and her husband, Russell of Wartrace, Tammy
King and her husband, Chris of Shelbyville and Lori Mitchell and her
husband, Bob of Shelbyville; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Vincent Joseph Kattanick
VINCENT JOSEPH KATTANICK, better known as “Santa Claus”, age 97, of Tullahoma, Tenn., departed this life on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Life Care Center of Tullahoma, Tenn., following an extended illness. Mr. Kattanick was born in Oneonta, New York on September 17, 1920, to the late Fortunatus Kattanick and Elizabeth Kattanick. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Kattanick was employed for many years with D&H Railroad in New York. He then left employment with D&H Railroad and was then employed as a carpenter working on the high rises in New York City. After the loss of his wife he moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. He lived there for approximately 10 years before Hurricane Katrina hit and forced him to leave his home and he then relocated to Tullahoma. Mr. Kattanick was a professional boxer and was friends with Jack Dempsey. He was also an avid baseball fan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Conrad Kattanick and daughter, Eileen Dyer. He is survived by his children; Mary Ann Helmer of Oneonta, New York and Joseph David Kattanick of Gresham, Oregon. Grandsons; Michael Helmer of Fly Creek, NY and Robert Helmer of Oneonta, NY, and 6-great-grandchildren.
There are no local services scheduled for Mr. Kattanick. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved Inez in Oneonta, NY. Service date and times are unavailable at this time.

1/20/18–Ernest Earl Lindsay
Ernest Earl Lindsay of Tullahoma, TN died peacefully at home surrounded
by family on January 17, 2018 at the age of 93. Earl was born at
his family’s farm on September 4, 1924 in Alexandria, AL to Ollie Hugh
Lindsay and Ethel Lee (Sams) Lindsay. The oldest of five children,
he twice served honorably in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and
again during the Korean War. Earl first enlisted in the U.S. Navy
during World War II and earned his commission as an officer at the age of
20. After World War II, Earl put himself through college and
graduated with a double major earning Bachelor of Science degrees in both
Math and Chemistry at Jacksonville State University while also playing
baseball and basketball. He later moved to Colorado where he taught
high school math and coached basketball. Earl then moved back to
Alabama where he was three months into earning his Master’s Degree in
Chemistry at the University of Alabama when the Korean War broke
out.; At that point, he again answered our country’s call to duty by
reentering the U.S. Navy and served in combat as the Gunnery Officer on
the destroyer, USS Colahan (DD-658). After the Korean War, he met
and married the love of his life, Maxine (Harris) Lindsay. Earl
updated his career priorities and earned his Bachelor of Science degree
in Aeronautical Engineering from Auburn University. After spending
a year working for McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis, MO, Earl
and his family moved to Tullahoma, TN in 1957 where Earl continued his
professional career as an aeronautical engineer at Arnold Engineering
Development Center (AEDC) until his retirement in 1984. AEDC is an
Air Force Material Command facility that contributed to the development
of practically every one of the nation’s top priority aerospace programs
including the Atlas, Titan, Minuteman and Peacekeeper ICBMs, the space
shuttle, space station, and Projects Mercury, Gemini and Apollo.
Earl enjoyed his time coaching several Little League baseball teams over
the years in Tullahoma. After retirement, Earl and Maxine traveled
the U.S. and abroad where his favorite trip of all was to Australia and
New Zealand. They enjoyed their season tickets to the Tennessee
Lady Volunteers basketball games. Earl was also a big Auburn
football fan and Atlanta Braves baseball fan. Earl is survived by
his three children: son Stan Lindsay (and wife Suzanne) of Tullahoma, TN;
daughter Carol Sanders (and husband Sandy) of Tucker, GA; and son Mark
Lindsay of Plainfield, IL. In addition, he is survived by his three
grandchildren: granddaughters Amber Kolkmeyer (and husband Ryan) of
Yorkville, IL; and, Aly Boomgarden (and husband Alex) of Aurora, IL;
grandson Taylor Lindsay of Tullahoma, TN; two great-grandchildren:
Addison and Aiden Kolkmeyer of Yorkville, IL; one sister, Ann Spieth of
Napoleon, OH, and the added blessings of several nieces and nephews.
Earl was predeceased by his wife, Maxine Lindsay, his brothers
Edward and Raymond Lindsay and his sister Elizabeth North.
Visitation will be held in Tullahoma, TN at Kilgore Funeral Home from
11:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, January 20th, 2018. Funeral services
will immediately follow at 12:00pm with Rev. Martin Nutter
officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial
Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the
Pat Summit Foundation (www.patsummitt.org) or to a charity of your
choice.
