1/30/18 — Jim R. Heath II

Jim R Heath II, of Tullahoma, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro at the age of 42 years. Memorial Services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1 PM.
Jim was born on December 7, 1975 in Newport, RI. He loved watching sports, especially the University of Alabama football games. He was also an avid reader with his favorite author being Stephen King.
He is survived by his father, Jim R. Heath I of Franklin County; mother and step-father, Cecelia Revere and her husband, Vaughn R of Parkston, NC; and brothers, William Heath of Winchester, Matthew Heath and his wife, Kathy of Winchester, Vaughn Revere Jr of NC, Mickel Dashno and his wife, Letisha of Estill Springs and Scott Dashno and his wife, Sierra of Murfreesboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

1/29/18 — Daisy Lillie Grant

Daisy Lillie Grant, of Tullahoma, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at her residence at the age of 84 years. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, January 29, 2018 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Hoover’s Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 11 AM.

Daisy, a native of Shelbyville, was the daughter of the late John William and Mary Ann Pitts.

She was a Supervisor at Tennessee Apparel for many years. She attended the Gospel Tabernacle Church. Mrs. Grant enjoyed gardening and worked hard in her flower garden. She also enjoyed taking walks and sitting in her swing on her back patio. She enjoyed family gatherings and traveling with the Senior Citizens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Grant; brother, Norman Price and sister, Marie Bly and grandchild, Kayla Dawn Mines.

She is survived by two sons, Sandy Alexander Grant and his wife, Lisa of Tullahoma and Jeffrey Lynn Grant, also of Tullahoma; two daughters, Sheila Headlee and her husband, Thomas of St. Mary, GA and Shelby Jean Mines and her husband, Jimmy of Tullahoma; brothers, James Edward Price of Wartrace, Willie Thurman Price of Bell Buckle, Melton Lee Price and his wife, Linda of Shelbyville and Roger Dale Price and his wife, Kim of Lithia, FL; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made in her honor to the Hospice of the Highland Rim, 110 E Lauderdale St, Tullahoma, TN 37388.

Monty Clell Wanamaker

Monty Clell Wanamaker, age 79, of McMinnville, TN, passed away on January 23, 2018 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital. His wishes were to be cremated and no memorial services.

Monty was born in Grundy County, TN, the son of the late Clifton and Louella Roberts Wanamaker. He was a self-employed artist/entrepreneur, whose art has been exhibited in numerous galleries, universities and museums since 1962, including Magness Library. At the age of 23, his first exhibit was in 1962 at the Parthenon Museum galleries in Nashville, TN, where he became the youngest curator. He was a member of the staff at The Phillips Collection, the country’s premier gallery of Modern Art. While living in New York City in the late 60’s, Monty studied at the Art Students League and had 2 successful solo shows. Art critics proclaimed him a “master craftsman” and a “mythical symbolist.” Also as a poet, Monty presented multi-media concerts, including one presented in 1979 at New York’s Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. His most current work, developed over a 25-year span, was first shown in 1999, at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, TN, where his multi-dimensional collages/assemblages were labeled “Visual Poems” by Chattanooga Times critic Ann Nichols. His works also included a book written about Warren County native, Dottie West.

Monty is survived by two sisters, Betty (Jesse) Betschart of Monteagle, TN and Kathy (John) Hipps of Altamont, TN; nephew, Jason (Lesa) Scott of McMinnville, TN; great-nephews, Landon and Brayden Scott; several cousins; a special friend, Chris Keathley; and a lot of special friends all over the country.

1/27/18 — Doris Mae Gunter

Doris Mae Gunter, age 86, went to be with her Lord and reunite with her beloved husband, Vic, on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Born in Cullman, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Carter and Pearlie Mayo. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles, Ima Jean, Eva Lois, Glenn, and Curtis. She is survived by her daughters, Victoria (Mike) Bower of Ringgold, Georgia, Mary (Larry) Greene of Proctorville, Ohio, and Donna (Tim) Robertson of Chesapeake, Virginia. She was “G’ma” to her five grandchildren, David (Randi) Greene of Chesapeake, Ohio, Rachel (Isaiah) Haynie of Proctorville, Ohio, Rebekah (Gabriel) Hinerman of Louisville, Kentucky, Joy (Brian) Davis of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Janna Robertson of Chesapeake, Virginia. She had three precious great-grandchildren, Zane Haynie, Charlotte Mae Hinerman, and Quinn Greene. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Grace Roukoski of Marietta, Georgia, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Doris was so thankful for her church family at New Union Baptist Church, her many friends, and so appreciative of her wonderful caregivers, Barbara, Brenda, Diana, and Sharon. She was also blessed with some special “fourth daughters”. She was an avid fan of Alabama football. Roll Tide!

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at New Union Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.

2/17/18 — Betty J. Ragsdale

Betty J Ragsdale of Tullahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, January 23,
2018 at Tennova Healthcare – Harton at the age 83 years. A Celebration of
Life Service is scheduled for 11 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at
Harmony Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ragsdale, known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as
“MeMa”, was born in Shelbyville, TN on June 30, 1934. She was the
daughter
of the late Robert Henry and Mary Stewart Brown. She and her sisters,
“The
Brown Girls” sang together and often performed on the local Shelbyville
radio station. She worked for many years as a manager at Hardee’s. Betty
loved spending time with her family and sharing stories from her childhood.
She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church (Spring Creek Baptist Church)
where she sang in the choir. She also enjoyed reading and watching golf
and football on TV. Her favorite team to watch was the University of
Alabama.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Albert Ragsdale; son, Steven Ragsdale; daughter, Pamela J Bryant; brother,
William Hoyte Brown and sisters, Evelyn Adams, Jewell Milton, Mildred
Oglesby, Bess Couser and Ann Harmon.

Betty is survived by son, Robert Ragsdale and his wife, Tammie of
Tullahoma; sister, Daisie Frothingham of Estill Springs; daughter-in-law,
Linda Ragsdale of Toronto, OH; four grandchildren, Casi Quinn of Gallatin,
Shawn Ragsdale and his wife, Kathleen of East Liverpool, OH, Kirby Smith
and her husband, Nathan of Estill Springs and Devin Ragsdale and his wife,
Chinaa of Tullahoma and eight great grandchildren, Dakota Quinn, Colton
Quinn, A J Quinn and Ellie Quinn, Macey Smith, Gavin Ragsdale, Elyjah
Ragsdale and Cayden Ragsdale.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in her honor
to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Humane Society.

1/25/18 — David LeRoy Rogers

Rogers, David LeRoy, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday,
January 21st, 2018 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga at the age
of 79. Mr. Rogers was born in Hiwassee Dam, North Carolina to the late
Willard D. and Ada Wilcox Rogers. He served his country in the United
States Army and went on to work in shipping at Wisco. Mr. Rogers was a
member of Estill Springs Nazarene Church and enjoyed watching sports and
studying history. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his sister, Mable Robertson. Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife Patricia
Rogers of Tullahoma; two sons, Mark Rogers and his wife Tiffany of
Olathe, Kansas and Douglas Rogers of Tullahoma; one sister, Christine
Brown and her husband Fred of Willow Springs, Missouri; and four
grandchildren, Aubrey, Braylee, Cassidy and Davis Rogers. Visitation will
be held on Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 at Kilgore Funeral Home from
5:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25th,
2018 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt
Hastings officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

1/26/18 — Altha Blanche Burks

ALTHA BLANCHE SHELTON BURKS, age 88, departed this life on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Life Care Center in Tullahoma following an extended illness to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Ms. Burks was born in Coffee County on November 6, 1929, to the late Willis Clinton Shelton and Irene Bell Roberts Shelton. She was the last charter member of the Concord Baptist Church in Tullahoma.  She taught Sunday School at Concord at different times and everyone that knew her knew she loved her Lord and her Church.  She was employed for approximately 45 years as a bookkeeper at different businesses in Tullahoma.  She was employed at Coca-Cola, The Manchester Times and was last employed for 26 years at PCA. Ms. Burks’ favorite hobbies were gardening and working on her families genealogy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Foster Burks, and a sister Louise Jones.  She is survived by her daughters; Melissa Neel and husband, Tom of Petersburg, Tenn., Shelley Luttrell and husband, Leon of Manchester.  Grandchildren; Clint Neel and wife, Leeann of Nashville, Heather Hamilton and husband Will of Fayetteville, Luke Dotson of Tullahoma, Debbie Yates of Winchester, Cody Dotson and wife, Jackie of Manchester, Kevin Luttrell of Manchester, Valerie Prosser and husband, Chris of Tullahoma, Holly Bradford and husband, Joey of Normandy, 11-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Ms. Burks is scheduled for 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, January 25, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.  Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 26, at Concord Baptist Church in Tullahoma, with Bro. Doyle Sherrill, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery where Ms. Blanche will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Foster.

2/3/18 — Walter Frost

Walter Frost of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, January 22 2018 at Tennova Healthcare – Harton at the age 82 years. Memorial Services are scheduled for 11 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends at 10 AM.
Mr. Frost was the son of the late George Walter and Violet Grace Quilley. He was born on April 6, 1935 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He graduated Cum Laude with a PHD from the University of Washington in 1965. He was always very proud of his alma mater, the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Mr. Frost retired from the University of Tennessee Space Institute, where he was the Director of the Atmospheric Science Division and Chairman of the Engineering Science graduate program committee. He was a Professional Engineer and a very accomplished scientist, receiving the AIAA National Losey Atmospheric Sciences Award in 1983, the NASA Certificate of Recognition in 1982 and the NASA Public Service Achievement Award in 1981. He was the principal investigator and/or program manager for over seventy research contracts and directed the theses and dissertations for over seventy Master’s and PHD level graduates. He also published over two hundred journal articles and technical papers. Mr. Frost was also the president of FWG Associates, Inc., Engineering Services and Consulting.
Mr. Frost loved reading and studying. He also loved poetry. He enjoyed playing poker, tennis and golf. He and his wife, Diana also operated DeWalt’s Shepherds Kennel in Tullahoma where they bred and raised German Shepherds. Mr. Frost was a German Shepard Specialty Judge.
Mr. Frost in survived by his wife, Diana Lee Raski Frost of Tullahoma; son, Robert Warren Frost of London, KY and Geoffrey Walter Frost and his wife, Ming-Min Lee of Tucson, AZ; sister, Irene Margaret Dudra of Vancouver, BC and three grandchildren, Robert Cameron Frost, Courtney Celena Frost and Maximus Lee Frost.

1/27/18 — Elizabeth “Betty” Anna Lewis

Memorial services for Ms. Elizabeth “Betty” Anna Lewis, age 74 of
Manchester, will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 3 PM at the
Hillsboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Haynes officiating.
Visitation with the family will begin at 1PM until time of service. Ms.
Lewis passed away on Monday, January 22 at St. Thomas West Hospital in
Nashville after an extended illness.

Betty was born on November 21, 1943, to the late John and Velma Rajala
LePosa in Seattle, Washington. She was retired from Bi-Lo in Manchester.
She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, sewing, and cooking. She loved to
spend time at the Manchester Recreation Center and the Manchester and
Pocahontas Community Centers. Betty was a member of the Hillsboro United
Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Betty is preceded in death by her husband
of 51 years, Kenneth Lewis, and one sister, Jeanette Lewis. She is survived
by her children, John (Valery) Lewis of PA, Debra (Shawn) Chapin of
Manchester, Scott (Colleen) Lewis of Manchester, Connie (Donald) Stone of
Manchester, and Tina (Joe) Cody of NC; sixteen grandchildren, Corry,
Bryanna, Basil, and Candace Chapin, Michael Stoneman, Coral and Thomas
Lewis, Cody and Levi Stone, Ashley Lockwood, Joshua and Tonya Keeler,
Brittany Minnis, Hunter, Brandon, and Sam Cody; and sixteen great
grandchildren, one sister, Jennifer Mozena and a host of friends.

1/24/18 — Geneva “Gee” Sherrill Schuster

Funeral services for Ms. Geneva “Gee” Sherrill Schuster, age 82 of
Manchester, will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at 2 PM at
Central Funeral Home with Brother Dale Woods officiating. Burial will
follow in the Concord Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on
Tuesday, January 23rd from 4 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Ms. Schuster
passed away on Friday, January 19th in Arkansas after an extended
illness.
Ms. “Gee” was born on May 15, 1935, to the late Hugh A. and Louise
Thurman Sherrill in Manchester. She was a retired assembly line worker
for Batesville Casket and she was of the Church of Christ faith. She
loved sports, especially Manchester’s baseball leagues, gardening, and
helping raise her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ms. “Gee” is preceded in death by three
brothers, Tommy, RL, and Hugh Sherrill, Jr. and one sister, Deloras
Reynolds. She is survived by her three sons, David (Linn) Schuster of GA,
Phillip (Linda) Schuster of LA, and Robert Schuster of Hillsboro; four
daughters, Tina Lester (Tim Baldwin) of AR, Becky (Doug) Lilienthal of
Manchester, Liz Lilienthal of Hillsboro, and Cheryl (Jeff) McCloud of OK;
eight sisters, Polly Banks and Brenda Henderson, Debbie Frame of
Manchester, Nell Jones and Nora Mantle of IL, Emma Throneberry of OK,
Becky Harryman and Teresa McCullough of Hillsboro; fifteen grandchildren,
Paige and Casie Lester, Sarah Hall, Jenifer Gooch, Jason, Michael, and
David Schuster, Deidra, Doug, and Travis Lilienthal, Tina Morton, Joshua
Schuster, Chris & Megan Schuster, and Mindi Lackey; and thirty-two great grandchildren.
