2/9/18 — Carter Clyde Piercy

Mr. Carter Clyde Piercy, 74, passed away, Saturday February
3, 2018 at the Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
He was born in Jasper, Tennessee on October 21, 1943 to Carroll Baldwin
Piercy and Nina Parker Piercy who preceded him in death along with his
sister, Nan Piercy; brothers, C.B., Bart, Rex and Sammy Piercy.

He was a retired salesman for Central Woodwork in Nashville, Tennessee. He
was a US Navy veteran and had served on the Manchester Police Department.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and York Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Piercy; son, Kevin (Debbie) Piercy,
Bradyville, Tennessee; daughter, Karen (Bob) Hamill, *Arcadia, FL; sister,
JoeAnn* Mayfield, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Justin Piercy,
Amber (Ryan) Smith and Jessica (Jeremy) Bolton; great grandchildren,
Camden, Fae, Kelby and Kiera; a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Friday in the Central Funeral Home
Chapel with Minister Ralph Hart officiating with burial to follow in the
Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Visitation: 5:00 PM –
9:00

Virgie Mae Gates

Mrs. Virgie Mae Gates, age 75 of Summitville, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at her home. She was born on May 2, 1942 in Shelbyville, TN to the late Silas and Mattie Lou Hillis.

Mrs. Gates had a love for animals, enjoyed working in her flower beds and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Gary Easton; daughter, Connie Brown; sister, Eve Stancel. She is survived by her husband, Robert Gates; son, Brian Easton; daughters, Brenda Roybal, Donna Todd; brothers, Ottie Hillis, Billy Hillis; sister, Mary Gordon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

No services are scheduled at this time.

2/6/18 — Connie Christian Keele

Funeral services for Ms. Connie Christian Keele, age 68 of Manchester,
will be conducted on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at New Union
Church of Christ with Brother Charles Williams officiating. Burial will
follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on
Monday, February 5, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at New Union Church
of Christ. Ms. Keele passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at McArthur
Manor. Connie was born on March 28, 1949 in Joelton, TN to the late
Eugene and Jane Christian. She was a member of New Union Church of Christ.
She retired from East Coffee Elementary after teaching for 37 years. She
enjoyed planting flowers and loved her dog. Connie had a love for
traveling, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Survived by her sons, Bradley Keele (Jamie), Zachary Keele (Rebekah);
brother, Wade Christian (Debbie); grandsons, Clayton and Nolan Keele.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests memorial contributions

2/7/18 — Bert S. Cathey

Bert S Cathey, of Shelbyville, passed this life on Friday, February 2, 2018
at his residence at the age of 92 years. Funeral Services are scheduled for
Wednesday, February 7, at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial
at Rosebank Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, February
6, 2018 from 4 – 9 PM.

Mr. Cathey, a native of Marshall County, TN, was the son of the late Floyd
Bert and Dessa Glaizer Cathey. He was born on July 5, 1925. Mr. Cathey
was a member of the Grace and Mercy Gospel Tabernacle in Tullahoma. He
retired from Eaton Corporation after 24 years. He was also a farmer. Mr.
Cathey enjoyed woodworking, working on his farm, spending time with his
grandchildren and great grandchildren and going to yard sales with his
beloved wife, Sylvia. He also enjoyed visiting Sutton’s Fruit Stand in
Maggie Valley, NC as often as possible.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia
Bridges Cathey and brothers, Edward and Brandon Cathey.

Mr. Cathey is survived by one son, Albert Anthony Cathey of Shelbyville;
one daughter, Melody Thomas and her husband, Larry of Shelbyville; nine
grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and one
great great grandchild on the way.

2/4/18 — Dale Bryant Farris, Sr.

DALE BRYANT FARRIS SR., age 69, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Thursday February 1, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Farris was born on April 4, 1948 to the late William Bryant Farris and Alma Ruby Moorehead Farris in Winchester, Tenn. Mr. Farris was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church in Estill Springs. He was a self employed heating and air technician and then was hired at AEDC where he worked as a Refrigeration Mechanic for approximately 20 years before retiring. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara Potts and Cathy Farris.

He is survived by his wife, Sina Ruth Farris of Estill Springs, son, Dale Farris Jr. and wife Serena also of Estill Springs. 4- Grandchildren; Sarah Farris and Will Farris of Murfreesboro, Ryan Holt and Cassidy Holt of Estill Springs, Sister, Nancy Lewis and husband Gerald of Cleveland, Tenn., and Several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Farris will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday Evening, February 3, in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Services for Mr. Farris are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 4, 2018, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services, with Bro. Carl Tucker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Harris Chapel Cemetery in Winchester.

Walter Fred Cline

Walter Fred Cline, of Soddy Daisy, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018
at Erlanger Hospital at the age of 81 years. No services are scheduled.

Mr. Cline, a native of Chattanooga, TN was born on March 14, 1936. He
worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the City of Chattanooga.

Mr. Cline is survived by one daughter, Freda Farris of Cowan; one son, Fred
Cline and his wife, Beverly of Live Oak, FL; sister, Loretta Bass of Red
Bank, TN; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

2/10/18 — Gary R. Jackson

Gary R Jackson, of Tullahoma, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at
Vanderbilt Hospital at the age of 65 years. Funeral Services are scheduled
for Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 1 PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist
Church, 124 21st Avenue, Seattle, Washington, 98122. The family will
receive visitors beginning at 12 PM.

Mr. Jackson, a native of Memphis, TN was the son of the late Joseph C.
Johnson and Mary L Jackson-Winters of Seattle, WA. Mr. Jackson lived in
Seattle for many years and retired from the City of Seattle where he was a
truck driver. He loved talking on his CB and Ham radio and was known as
“Will Kill”, “Stump Jumper”, “350 Mobile” and “Skull Cracker”. He loved
family gatherings and was lovingly called “UNC” by his many nieces and
nephews. He also enjoyed taking pictures and playing cards.

In addition to his mother, Mary L Jackson-Winters and her husband, James of
Seattle, he is survived by his wife, Elsie Jackson of Tullahoma; sons,
Lamont Rice and his wife, Angela of Seattle and Kendrick William-Jackson
and his wife, Shondra of Chicago; daughters, LaTonya Rice and Shawanna
Jackson, both of Seattle, Nancy Teresa Jackson of Chicago and Jamila
Jackson of Seattle; brothers, Ricky Jackson and his wife, Aurthine of
Seattle; twin sister, Gaynell Jackson-Burnside and her husband, Willie of
Tullahoma; sisters, Sherry L. Jackson and Rosalyn Jackson, both of Seattle
and Jacqueline Welton and her husband, Philander of Las Vegas, NV; uncle,
James Johnson of Joliet, IL; aunt, Marthella Johnson of Chicago;
brother-in-law, Derrick Gray of Chicago; sisters-in-law, Vivian Wilson and
her husband, Joseph, Jacqueline Cooper and her husband, Gary and Rhonda
Gray, all of Chicago, twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and “CB Buddies”.

2/3/18 — Betty Jean Winton

Funeral services for Ms. Betty Jean Winton, age 95 of Manchester, will be
held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2 PM at Central Funeral Home with
Eastern Star honors. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 1 PM until time of service at the
funeral home. Ms. Winton passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018, at St.
Thomas Midtown in Nashville.
Ms. Betty was born on August 12, 1922, in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late
Charles William and Helen Reithoffer Ague. She was a housewife and a
life-long member of the Eastern Star, currently of the Hillsboro Chapter.
Ms. Betty was an avid Orchid grower. She loved reading, country cooking,
and she was very interested in politics, especially the last couple of
years. Probably her greatest love was animals, especially her Dachshund,
“Rudy”.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Betty is preceded in death by her husband
of 49 years, Lyona “Windy” Winton, who passed away in 2008, and her
daughter, Nancy Winton, who passed away in 2015, and her brother, Charles
Ague, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Gibson of Hillsboro and
her special nephew, Richard Ague and his wife, Patty, of Sugar Loaf, PA.

2/3/18 — Gloria Ann Ward

Gloria Ann Ward of Coffee County, Tennessee passed away Wednesday,
January 24, 2018 at the Southern Tennessee Regional Medical Center in
Winchester, Tennessee. Born in Jonesboro, Louisiana, on December 13, 1934
she was preceded in death by her parents; Maggie Arline Cathey Murphy
& James “Elmer” Murphy, daughter Cathey Ann Ward, siblings; Printis
Earl Murphy, James Leroy Murphy, Eva Dean Murphy Zerbe, Wilburn “Louie”
Murphy and Betty Jean Murphy Savage. She is survived by her devoted
husband of 60 years, Walter H. “Sonny” Ward of Tullahoma, TN; son, Eric
Christopher Ward & wife, Janine Marie Hall Ward, and grandson, Devin
Finley Ward all of Missoula, Montana; two brothers and their wives, Bobby
Stowe Murphy (Melba), of Jonesboro, Louisiana, and Michael Kent Murphy
(Janis) of Bienville Parish, Louisiana, plus several cousins, nieces and
nephews scattered all about the US of A. Ann was an outstanding mother,
cook and homemaker. Her cakes were her specialty, which her husband and
son can attest to. Although Ann was a devoted mother and homemaker and
outside of a part time job folding and stuffing the “Monday Market” paper
with some other ladies, she never worked outside the home following
marriage. Incidentally she really loved the time with the ladies doing
the “Monday Market” especially catching up on all of the local news and
gossip.   Ann also found time to volunteer for church work
during the 25years she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. During
that time, she was one of the volunteer Secretaries that worked one day a
week and one of the Trinity Cradle workers before Trinity Cradle became
something else and moved from Trinity Lutheran
Church. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018
at Faith Lutheran Church from 10:00-11:00am with a memorial service to
immediately follow at 11:00am with Rev. Marty Nutter officiating. For
those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be
made to Faith Lutheran Church, 101 Bragg Circle, Tullahoma, Tennessee
37388.

2/1/18 — Billy Charles Tate

Tate, Billy Charles, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday,
January 26th, 2018 at NHC at the age of 84. Mr. Tate was born in Fort
Payne, Alabama to the late Harry and Virginia Shipp Tate. During his life
he worked as a Machinist with A.R.O. and was a member of Highland Baptist
Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his
wife, Imogene Tate; and two sisters, Toni and Jo. He is survived by his
sons, Alan and Brian Tate, both of Tullahoma; two brothers, Paul Tate and
his wife Becky of Jacksonville, Florida and Tom Tate and his wife Betty
of Peachtree City, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jason Haley and his wife
Debra and Chad Haley and his wife Janine; and four great-grandchildren,
Peyton, Alex, Savanna, and Gracee. Visitation for Mr. Tate will be held
on Thursday, February 1st, 2018 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00pm.
