1/5/19 — James Caner Weaver
Mr. James Caner Weaver, 85, passed away at
his home Wednesday, January 2, 2019. He was born in Manchester,
Tennessee on March 29, 1933 to the late James C. and Lavena Reynolds
Weaver, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his
first wife, Margie Finney Weaver, son, Jeffrey Clay Weaver, daughters,
Loretta Kay Weaver and Lavena Faye Weaver Peavyhouse, and brother, O.D.
“Don” Weaver.
He is survived by his loving wife, Viola “Susie” Weaver; Jerry
(Patricia) Finney of Estill Springs, Elaine (Sam) Stewart of Lynchburg,
and son-in-law Col. Martin Peavyhouse of Estill Springs, six
grandchildren, Anthony Peavyhouse, Rebecca (Joe) Burgraff, Jamie (Alisha)
Finney, Marty (An’re) Finney, Jeremy Burch and Lindsey (Ted) Kocak; six
great-grandchildren, Emily and Jacob Micciche, Isabella Peavyhouse,
Claire and Leo Finney, Wyatt Finney. In addition, he is survived by
three brothers, Dale (Barbara) Weaver, Ray (Elaine) Weaver, and Keith
(Kathy) Weaver, all of Estill Springs as well as many other relatives and
friends.
James was born and raised in the Calls Community of Coffee County, where
he resided until he joined the U.S. Army. He proudly served for 2 years
in the Korean Conflict before being honorably discharged. James then
resided in Elkhart, Indiana until moving to the Crossville, TN area,
where he began his employment with GTE Telephone Company. He enjoyed
meeting a variety of individuals and helping others while installing
services and retired from there after 34 years. James then returned to
this area. He was a member of the New Brick Church of Christ wherein he
served as an Elder. He enjoyed visiting with others, telling stories and
blue grass music.
He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather,
brother, and friend. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the
Central Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Jerry Finney officiating with
burial to follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

1/3/19 — Mary Sue Blackwood Watkins
Mary Sue Blackwood Watkins, 78, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 in
Lynchburg, TN.
She was born on July 29, 1940, in Parrish, Alabama to Harley Blackwood and
Mary Penny Blackwood. She is preceded in death by her parents, step-mother,
Frances Hamrick Blackwood; her husband, W. Alan Watkins, Sr.; brother,
Glendon Blackwood; parent in-laws, Wilbur and Hazel Watkins.
Soon after high school graduation, Sue began the job of her dreams as an
airline stewardess for Southern Airways. While she was based in Kingsport,
TN she met and married Al. She spent the next several years raising their
three children. She was a Girl Scout Brownie Leader and a Boy Scout Den
Mother, a Jaycette and volunteered for many years with the Special
Olympics. Once her children were in school Sue began a 36 year career with
Skills Development Services, Inc. as the Workshop Director; she retired in
August of 2013. Sue loved to travel and enjoyed gardening and cake
decorating.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Michelle Martindale
and husband Rob, Johnson City, Melissa Bush and husband, Barry, Hillsboro,
and Alan Watkins, Jr, Manchester; grandchildren, Kyle Bush and wife,
Maegan, Blake Bush and wife, Samantha, Emma and Trent Martindale and
Bethany Watkins; great grandchildren, Ameila, Rayland, Ella and Kingslee.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to
7:00 p.m. at Coffee County Funeral Home. A graveside service and burial
will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport, TN at a later date.

1/5/19 — Clara Ruth Farless
Mrs. Clara Ruth Farless, 80, passed away Monday
December 31, 2018 at the Manchester Health Care Center. She was born in
Bradyville, Tennessee on May 15, 1938 to Willie Farless and Margaret Lorene
Stacey Farless who preceded her in death along with her husband, Howard
Farless; sons, Danny Ray Farless and Donnie Glenn Farless; sisters, Joyce
Bankston and Christine Harrison.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Ray (Betty) Farless; daughter, Shirley
Banks; sister, Wilma Farless; brothers, Wayne and Bobby Farless; 5
grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Central Funeral Home
Chapel with Burial to follow in the Gnat Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 5:00

1/3/19 — Dorothy Maye Preston Arnold
Dorothy Mae Preston Arnold, age 86, of Tullahoma passed away Sunday,
December 30, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, at 2:00
PM in the chapel of Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow in
Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at
Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home on Thursday from Noon until time for the
service.
A native of Madison County, Alabama, Mrs. Arnold was the
daughter of the late Tom and Ada Preston. She was a retired baseball
seamstress for Wilson Sporting Goods. Mrs. Arnold was a member of the
Fellowship Baptist Church. She liked to model and sing, and enjoyed
traveling. She loved her family and her church.
Mrs. Arnold is survived by her daughter, Susan Arnold White of
Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Michelle Stage and husband Greg, Vicki
Castelluci and her husband, Mike, Adam White, Nathan White, Thomas White
and James Harlow, Jr. and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death
by her husband, Elmer Arnold; son, Michael Lee Arnold and sisters, Ethel
Luttrell, Ann York, Donnie Travis, Violet Moore, Nola Caldwell, and Lillian
Bailey.

1/4/19 — John Mark Hodges
Hodges, John Mark, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday, December
30th, 2018 at his home at the age of 48. Mr. Hodges was born in
Winchester to the late Dillon Wayne Hodges Sr. and Shirley Teters Hodges.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Gulf War and
later worked as a meat cutter at Kroger. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nola Preston Caldwell; sister,
Jennifer Maureen Hodges; grandfather, James Polk Burks; and several
aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife, Kristie
Hodges; his daughter, Mattie Hodges; his son, Matthew Hodges (Katelyn);
one brother, Dillon Wayne Hodges Jr. (Tammy); two grandchildren, Braxton
and Jessie; nieces, Jennifer Dow (Scott) and Emily Belcher (Cody); and
his great- nieces, Madeline, Madison and Kaylee Dow and Mayleigh Belcher.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4th, 2019 at Kilgore Funeral
Home from 12:00-2:00pm with the funeral to immediately follow at 2:00pm
with Bro. David Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet
Cemetery in Estill Springs.

1/3/19 — James Otis Yates
Yates, James Otis, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday,
December 31, 2018 at Life Care Center at the age of 88. Mr. Yates was
born in Tullahoma to the late Chester and Maude Kimbrough Yates. During
his life he worked as a heavy equipment operator for several different
companies, most recently being at Coffee County Waste Management. In
addition to his parents, Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his wife,
Mary Helen Yates; his son, Jimmy Yates; his daughter, Clara Lane Yates;
one granddaughter, Chasity Yates; and his brother, John Thomas Yates. He
is survived by his grandchildren, Derek Yates (Stacey) and Lindsay Bogle
(JT); and great grandchildren, Brandon Guess, Cloye Yates and Kylie Leann
Bogle. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019 at Kilgore
Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday,
January 3rd, 2019 at 2:30pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.

1/3/19 — James Harvey Hicks
Hicks, James Harvey “Jim”, of Tullahoma, passed this life on
Saturday, December 29th, 2018 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in
Nashville at the age of 69. Mr. Hicks was born in Franklin, Tennessee to
the late James H. Hicks Jr. and Sally Beatrice Edwards Hicks. He was a
graduate of Tennessee Tech University and worked as an Environmental
Engineer with AECOM. Mr. Hicks was also a long time, dedicated member of
Highland Baptist Church in Tullahoma. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Joan Petty Hicks. Mr. Hicks is survived by
his son, Jamie Hicks and his wife Brandy; two daughters, Jennifer Cope
and her husband David and Jana Hobbs and her husband Brad; three
brothers, Bill Hicks and his wife Ramona, Ed Hicks and his wife Onita and
Dan Hicks; and six grandchildren, Madison, Molly, Gracie, Libbie, Emma
and Ryan. Visitation for Mr. Hicks will be held on Wednesday, January
2nd, 2019 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will
be held on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral
Home Chapel with Dr. Don Dixon and Rev. Jim Norman officiating. A
graveside service will follow at 2:30pm at Lone Oak Cemetery in

12/30/18 — Jacqueline Faye Hedstrom
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Faye
Hedstrom on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 after a long illness.
Jackie was born on August 3, 1941 in Birmingham, AL. She was preceded in
death by her parents, two sisters and her oldest son, Jeffrey Hall.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Roger Hedstrom; son, Dusty Hedstrom;
daughters, Rebecca Morris and Trina Pierce; son-in-law, Tony Pierce; twelve
grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2 PM at
Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma, followed by fellowship at the home of
Jackie and Roger.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made in
her honor to Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

1/2/19 — Blake Alan Smith
Blake Alan Smith of Tullahoma passed this life on Tuesday, December 25,
2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville at the age of 27 years.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 1 PM at
Calvary Apostolic Church, 151 Parham Drive, Tullahoma with burial to follow
at Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors beginning at 11
AM.
Blake, a native of Tullahoma, was the son of Troy Smith of Winchester and
Patricia Dixon of Tullahoma. He enjoyed music, visiting with friends and
taking care of his children.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by wife, Misty Smith of
Tullahoma; maternal grandmother, Mary Verner of Tullahoma; paternal
grandmother, Bobbie Pendleton and her husband, Tommy of Winchester; sons,
Tyler Smith and Eli Farrar; daughter, Lilly Smith, brothers, Greg Dixon and
his wife, Ladonna and Cody Dixon, both of Manchester and uncles, Thomas
Dixon of Estill Springs, Martin Dale Dixon of Lynchburg and Billy Smith of
Winchester.

12/31/18 — Jimmy “Dutchman” Stewart
Jimmy “Dutchman” Stewart of Normandy passed this life on Thursday,
December
27, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville at the age of 85 years.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 2 PM at
Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The
family will receive visitors beginning at 12 PM.
Jimmy was the son of the late Luther and Louella Tankersley Stewart. He
enjoyed talking on his CD radio and was known as the Dutchman. He also
enjoyed working on cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Thomas Lee
Stewart and sister, Helen Burnett.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lemmons Stewart of Normandy; sons,
Jimmy Stewart Jr of Tullahoma, Daniel Stewart and his wife, Linda of
Winchester, David and Phillip Stewart, both of Tullahoma and Tom Stewart
and his wife, Lorina of Lynchburg; daughter, Sherry Stewart Saunders of
Wartrace; seventeen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
