James Ruble “Jimmy” Boatman III

Boatman III, James Ruble “Jimmy”, of Estill Springs, passed this life on Friday, November 20th, 2020 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System in Winchester at the age of 57. Jimmy was born in Manchester to the late James Ruble Boatman Jr. and Jane Bentley Boatman. He was a graduate of Tullahoma High School and was a member of the 1979 football team, the first in the programs history to advance to the state semi-finals. Jimmy went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Army and then worked in Industrial Maintenance at UTC. He was a member of Grundy Street Church of Christ, and was a Union VP for the United Steel Workers 6817. When his children were younger, Jimmy coached both softball and basketball for their various teams and also helped coach his grandchildren’s t-ball teams. He also loved camping, fishing and University of Tennessee Football.  In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by one nephew, Alan Bisby. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Flatt Boatman; one son, Michael Boatman and his wife Kayla; one daughter, Emmaleigh Boatman; stepdaughter, Julia Pierce and her husband TJ; and two step-sons, James and Jeremiah Jones; three grandchildren, Paisley, Liam, and Lincoln; his father-in-law, Ben Flatt and his wife, Debbie; one sister, Diane Bisby; one brother, Lee Edwin Boatman and his wife Lisa; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22nd, 2020 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 12:00-2:00pm with the funeral to immediately follow at 2:00pm with Bro. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alezheimer’s Tennessee, P.O. Kathy D. Marr

Kathy D. Marr of Fayetteville passed this life on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the age of 64.  Service times are pending. Funeral Services for Mrs. Marr will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:00PM in the chapel of Lynchburg Funeral Home with Brother Jimmie Marr officiating. The Marr family will receive friends at Lynchburg Funeral Home from 12:00PM until time for the service.

Mrs. Marr, a native of Lincoln County was the daughter of the late Charles and Geneva Mannley. She loved spending time with her grandkids and enjoyed crafting and flower gardening.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marr was preceded in death by son, Jody Jay Marr.

Billie Ann Welch

Billie Ann Welch of Manchester passed this life on Thursday, November 19,
2020 at her residence at the age of 64.  Visitation with the family will be
Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 5-8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Welch was a Lieutenant with the Coffee
County Sheriff’s Department. She enjoyed playing golf and collecting
Dolphins.  She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching Baseball.
She loved her pets, Buddy the dog and Holly the cat.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Clements and brother,
Michael Meggs.

Mrs. Welch is survived by sons, Eddie Welch and fiancé’, Nikki Robinson of
Manchester and Anthony Welch of Manchester; sister, Jean Martinez of
Manchester; grandchildren, Blake Fotheringham of Sparta, Mercedes Welch of
Lenoir City and Dalton Welch of Manchester and three great grandchildren.

Glenn Lee Hughes

Obituary for Glenn Lee Hughes, Auburntown, Tennessee

Glenn Lee Hughes was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world suddenly on Nov. 19, 2020, at age 68.

He was born to Douglas and Therese Hughes on Feb. 26, 1952, in Miami, Florida. In his younger years, Glenn was a bull rider in Florida. He followed his parents to Tennessee, where he met his wife of 44 years, Colleen. Together they had two daughters: Jodie Boaz and Lindsay Bertling.

In his lifetime, Glenn wore many hats. He was a cowboy, construction worker, truck driver and farmer. He was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was kind, honest and loyal. 

He was his wife’s and daughters’ hero. He was quick to lend a helping hand – a good neighbor who never met a stranger. His kindness and mischievious ways always left others with a smile. His family was his whole world.

He loved to spend time with his three grandchildren who adored him and called him “Poppy.” They loved nothing more than catching a tractor ride with Poppy or going with him to feed the cows. Glenn loved having his family around him, whether it was at the beach on the coast of South Carolina, in the Smoky Mountains or at his farm in Auburntown.

He is survived by his wife Colleen Hughes; his two daughters, Jodie (Troy) Boaz and Lindsay (Brad) Bertling. Also his grandchildren Austyn and Walker Bertling and Jake Boaz, as well as his brother Ken Hughes and sister Laurie Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mindy Hughes.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, in the Arnett Education Building at the Wilson County Fairgrounds, 945 E. Baddour Pwky, Lebanon, TN 37087, with David Dunn officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor by check to the Tennessee High School Rodeo Association (TNHSRA), 117 Pond Circle Road, Dickson, TN 37055.

James Shelton Warren

James Shelton Warren of Fayetteville passed this life on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the age of 91. Visitation will be held at Lynchburg Funeral Home on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 11am to 12pm. A Graveside Service will follow at 2pm at Bevills Chapel Cemetery in Hazel Green, AL with Brother Sonny Moore officiating.
Mr. Warren, a native of Lincoln County, was the son of the late JJ and Ella Marr Warren. He loved the Lord and was strong in his faith. He served in the ministry for 56 years as pastor of First Church of God in Shelbyville. Mr. Warren always stayed busy, whether it was in the church, doing yardwork, or spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Lois Warren; daughters, Debbie Henderson and Kathy Jones; grandson, Shane Jones.
He is survived by his son, James Doraynn Warren; grandchildren, Stephanie Posey, Bryan Jones, Matthew Warren, Adam Warren, Zach Warren, Tiffany Crowe, and 14 great grandchildren.

Betty Lynn McGowan

Betty Lynn McGowan of Manchester passed this life on Wednesday, November
18, 2020 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville at the age of 63.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 12 noon
at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mt. Garner
Cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 11 AM.

A native of Tullahoma, she was the daughter of the late Bobby Wayne Hale
and Shirley Ann Noblitt Hale of Estill Springs. She was a member of Main
Street Church of Christ in Manchester and enjoyed crafting, gardening and
reading.  She loved going to the beach and hunting for shells and visiting
lighthouses.  Her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren.  She
loved the Holiday’s and always enjoyed decorating for Christmas.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. McGowan is survived by husband, Stephen
McGowan of Manchester; daughters, Lorie LeeAnn Grimes of Manchester and
Andrea Lynn Jernigan (Jeremy) of Murfreesboro; brothers, Allen Hale of
Garden City, SC and Chris Hale (Dana) of Estill Springs; sisters, Pam
Lawson (Mike) of Manchester and Karen Church (Rick) of Estill Springs and
grandchildren, Hannah Grace and Lindsey Brooke Grimes and Kylie Lynn, Katie
Elizabeth and Isabel Marie Jernigan.

Margit Birnbaum Nix

Nix, Margit Birnbaum, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, November 16th, 2020 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester at the age of 87. Mrs. Nix was born in Schmiedeberg, Germany to the late Johann and Maria Hoffman Birnbaum. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Tullahoma and loved to bake, cook, and work in her garden. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilson Nix; one son, Mark Nix; one brother, Hans; and one grandson, Mark Hayden Nix. She is survived by one son, Jimmy Ray Nix (Marla); two daughters, Patsy Watkins (Randall) and Nancy Nix; grandchildren, Teresa Boswell, Cherl Boswell, Phillip Bradley Watkins, Alyssa Nix, Madison Nix, Lynsey Nix, Ryan Watkins, Mallory Nix, and James Ethan Nix; and three great grandchildren, Preston Watkins, Raianna Gault, and Damon Dodson. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20th, 2020 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm. Nancy R. George

Nancy R. George of Tullahoma passed this life on Tuesday November 17, 2020
at her residence at the age of 82.  Funeral Services are scheduled for
Friday, November 20, 2020 at 12 noon at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with
burial to follow at Lynchburg Cemetery.  The family will receive friends
beginning at 10 AM.

A native of Moore County, she was the daughter of the late Glendon J. and
Georgia Moorehead Rogers.  She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in
Tullahoma and enjoyed antiquing, quilting, doing cross stitch and fishing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy
Jean Rogers.

Mrs. George is survived by her loving husband of 64 ½ years, Shirley George
of Tullahoma; son, Roger George (Margaret) of Woodville, AL; daughter,
Debbie Creason (Larry) of Franklin; brothers, Charles Rogers (Elaine) and
Jerry Rogers (Brenda), both of Tullahoma; grandchildren, Jessica Creason of
Nashville, Traci Meza (Jose L) of Nashville and Brett Milde (Stephanie) of
Huntsville and six great grandchildren.

Joan Sternik

Joan Sternik passed this life on Tuesday November 17, 2020 at the Life Care
Center of Tullahoma at the age of 76.  No services are scheduled.

A native of Chicago, she enjoyed cooking, walking, bowling and sewing. She
attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Decherd.

She was preceded in death by son, Adam Clowers.

She is survived by son, Eugene Wade Clowers; daughter, Angela Del Pilar
(Juan); grandchildren, Kyle Manlosa, Juan Del Pilar, Courtney Wiseman, Max
Mashburn Jr and Jessica Mangrum and four great grandchildren.

Dennie M. Horsley

Mr. Dennie M. Horsley was born on February 17, 1938, to the late Samuel and
Ruth LeGrand Horsley in Garfield, KY.  After his high school graduation, he
served his country in the United States Air Force and he was of the
Presbyterian faith.  Dennie married Phyllis Ann Jaynes on October 3, 1964
in Alexandria, Virginia.  Dennie was a hard-working husband and father,
working his way up the ladder at a regional heat and air wholesale company
managing their office in Bowling Green, Kentucky before retirement.  To
relax he enjoyed fishing with his family. They could be found at the lake
most weekends when his kids were still living at home.  He was also a very
good gardener and had a green thumb, planting many flowers and shrubs for
his wife.  After retirement, he and his wife, Phyllis, moved from Bowling
Green, KY to Manchester, TN and became very active in the Tullahoma Kennel
Club.  Dennie and Phyllis showed their Cavalier King Charles Spaniels at
dog shows all over the U.S. where they received multiple Champions and one
Grand Champion.  Dennie could talk to anyone and he especially enjoyed
making many friends throughout the world through the internet.  He was a
life-long Ford man, working briefly at a local Ford dealership, and would
have been happy to know his last ride to the hospital was in a Ford
Ambulance.

In addition to his parents, Dennie is preceded in death by his brother,
Samuel Horsley, and his sister, Jane Horsley.  He is survived by his loving
wife of 56 years, Phyllis Ann Jaynes Horsley; son, Michael Kevin Horsley
and his wife, Teri, of Brentwood, TN; daughter, Kimberly Ann Miller and her
husband, Mark, of Buford, GA; grandchildren, Helena and Samuel Horsley, and
Jarod and Lauren Miller; sister-in-law, Beverly Horsley; several nieces,
nephews, and a host of friends.

Dennie passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, November 9, 2020, at
the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 22 days.  Dennie will be remembered as a
loving husband, father, and grandfather; who was a kind, gentle, sweet man,
with a great sense of humor.
