Funeral services for Mr. Elliehue Hollis, Jr., age 84 of Manchester, TN will be conducted Friday, September 26, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Benny Benjamin officiating.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 PM until time of services at 4:00 PM.
Mr. Hollis passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 13, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Elihu “Huie” Hollis, Sr., and Elizabeth Todd Hollis Fournier.
Mr. Hollis joined the United States Air Force and prior to deployment to engage in the Korean Conflict, he courted Miss Helen Haley and the two married on July 25, 1951. Later, he was employed as an Industrial Electrician at the Ford Truck Plant in Louisville, KY where he retired January 1, 1991. “Hollis” as he was affectionately known by family and friends, enjoyed woodworking, hunting, electronics and wine making. He was an avid Nascar fan and was a member of the UAW Local 862. He was a loving husband and father who will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Norvel Hollis; a sister, Virginia Hollis all from Cannon County, TN; a son, Jeffrey Wayne Hollis and a grandson, Jason Hollis Armstrong.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Haley Hollis; two daughters, Karen Hollis Armstrong and Cathy Hollis McKee all of Manchester; grandchildren, Bobbi Chesser, Brandi Armstrong, Cory McKee, Alec McKee and Becky Morris; great-grandchildren, Asa McKee, Skylar and Jaybird Morris, Cara, Rylan and Jason Chesser; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
