Dollye Evelyn Redmon Elam, age 84 of Bradyville, Tennessee, died on August 25, 2014.

She was born in Centertown, TN to Thurman and Callie Redmon.

She graduated from Centertown High School and Beauty School in McMinnville, TN before opening up her own beauty shop which she ran for 34 years. Dollye loved to play basketball as a student and young adult. She was an avid cross-stitcher. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting as well. Outside was one of her favorite places to be. She always had a fabulous garden but even more spectacular was the many flowers and flowerbeds that she kept in pristine condition. One of her best skills was rocking her grandchildren. She instilled a love of putting jigsaw puzzles together in everyone that dropped by her home. Baking, cooking and canning for others was one of the ways she served the Lord and others. As a member of the Church of Christ and her life committed to Jesus, Dollye went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters: Clara Bell Lance of McMinnville, TN, Willie Winnett of Nashville, TN, Nell Barnett of Bradyville, TN and her husband of 45 years, Gordon Kenneth Elam.

She is survived by 1 sister Robie Parsley of Madison, TN, her 4 children: Thomas Arledge (Janet) of Pilesgrove, NJ, Bob Arledge (Dee) of Lowell, MA, Patricia “Pat” Cobb (Larry) of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Danny Arledge (Rhonda) of Ethel, LA.Dollye, better known as Nanny to her 7 grandchildren: Kristy Cobb Hall of Dallas, TX, Misty Cobb Cooper of White House, TN, Melissa Arledge Lourenco, of Chemlsford, MA, Mindy Arledge-Hicks of Flowertown, PA, Brian Arledge of Pilesgrove, NJ, Dixie Arledge Meador of Central, LA, and Erin Arledge of Baton Rouge, LA. Nanny has 5 great-grandchildren: Caleb Cooper, Lucas and Lillian Meador, Nolan and Mia Lourenco. She is also survived by her the spouses of her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with her grandson-in-law, Scott Cooper will be officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ivy Bluff Cemetery in Bradyville, TN.
