Funeral services for Tom Brown, age 64 of Hillsboro, will be conducted at
1:00pm, Monday, July 4 at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church
with Rev.John Weaver and Rev. Chris Haynes officiating. Burial will
follow in the Hillsboro Methodist Cemetery. Visitation with Tom’s family
will be Sunday, July 3 from 5pm until 9pm at Manchester Funeral Home and
Monday, July 4 from 11am until 1pm at the Hillsboro First United
Methodist Church. Tom passed from this life Saturday morning at his home
surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born in Hillsboro, Tennessee the son of Harold Mead Brown and
Helen Ruth Bramblett Brown. He was a farmer at heart, having worked at
the family farm, raised cattle and worked in the family dairy business.
Tom was known for making different varieties of wine, first in his
basement and in 2004 he opened Bean’s Creek Winery in Manchester. Tom
served on the Governors’ Viticulture Advisory Board, was past president
of the Tennessee Viticulture & Oenological Society (TVOS) and was an
active leader in the Tennessee Farm Wine Alliance (TFWA) and numerous
other agricultural organizations. His wines won many awards in Tennessee,
the southeast region and internationally. He served his country in the
U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist
Church. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Harold Mead Brown who
passed in 2007. He is survived by:

and Sage Brown
