6/11/12 — Lettie Castlen Cardy

Mrs. Lettie Castlen Cardy, age 78, of Normandy, went to be with her husband, of 58 years, and her Lord on Friday, June 8, 2012, at United Regional Medical Center in Manchester.

A native of Grand Bay, Al, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clayton and Lettie Cora Castlen. She was a retired Registered Nurse and was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church.

She moved to Tullahoma with her husband in 1959, and immediately joined the First United Methodist Church, becoming a member of the Questers Sunday School Class. She later received her nursing degree from Motlow State Community College and was a member of Motlow’s first nursing graduating class of 1974. She began her career at Queen City Infirmary and later, she was an ICU nurse at Harton Regional Medical Center. After retiring, she volunteered with Good Samaritan for many years where she served as Treasurer. Her bridge club ladies were very dear to her along with her church circle. She will be remembered as a beloved mother and grandmother and as a sweet, compassionate woman, who had a gift for taking care of the sick and hurting. She was a special person loved by the many people whose lives she touched over the years.

She is survived by one daughter; Alice (Bob) Sparks of Normandy, one son; Ben (Rene’) Cardy of Richmond, TX., four grand children; Stuart and Georgia Sparks, and Benjamin and Carissa Cardy, and one great grandchild, Raelynn Sparks, and three sisters; Doris Buhl of Hixson, TN, Aurelia Paine of Grand Bay, AL, and Evelyn Moore of Houston TX.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00PM on Monday, in the chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home, with Bro. Mark Ashley officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests that memorial donation be made to American Heart Association, Inc. 1818 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203-2111.
