Jimmy “Jim” Parker Long, age 81, passed away with his loving family at his side at the St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital April 6, 2017. Jim was born June 20, 1935, in Decherd to the late Jessie James Long and Bessie Barrie Henley Long. Jim resided in Hillsboro with his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Lula (Lou) Long. Before retirement he was employed with Carrier in Morrison. Jim enjoyed spending time taking drives and stopping at yard sales, but most of all he enjoyed his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by four sisters; Lorene Bishop, Naomi Green, Rachel Green, and Eva Marie Long, and a brother; Winton (Bud) Long.
Jim is survived by his wife Lula (Lou) Long, a brother, Jessie Bare of Manchester, TN, and a sister, Faye Gipson of Hillsboro, TN, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made toward the Rutledge Hill Cemetery or the Roaks Cove Baptist Church.
