Mrs. Jean C. Collins, age 90, of Hillsboro passed away February 13, 2015 in her home.
She was born September 2, 1924 in Chattanooga, the daughter of the late Clifford R. Miller and Alma Smith Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband Drew Collins and her two sisters, Leta Henry of Chattanooga and Mary Brown of Hillsboro.
She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Myers (Stuart) of Hillsboro and a son Barry Cordell of Nashville; two granddaughters Tara Myers McCamey (Tyler) and Meredith Myers Barnett (Aaron); three great-grandchildren Aubrey Myers McCamey, Julia Camille McCamey and Palmer Stuart Barnett.
She retired from being a buyer at Miller Bros. Department Store in Chattanooga for over 25 years and then became a sales representative for various companies. She will be missed by her loving family, friends, and the church she so loved. She enjoyed reading and most of all her canasta games every week with her buddies, Jane Hamby, Christine Deadman, Jennifer Riddle, and Hope Guffey. She was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church where she had been active in the United Methodist Women and the Builders Sunday School Class.
She wanted the men in her Sunday school class to be her honorary pall bearers.
Her celebration of life will be conducted at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Jared officiating and burial following in the Hillsboro United Methodist Cemetery.
